England to walk off pitch if racism happens in the stands (1 Viewer)

IMO England should have walked off. The issue has to be forced otherwise UEFA will do the absolute minimum they can get away with again.

Also why are the police not in there arresting people when ITV are showing clear pictures of people with uncovered faces making Nazi salutes and monkey noises?

Can see it kicking off after the match unfortunately with the news of the death of an England fan and the things that have gone on during the game.

The process worked tonight but for me it’s more about the consequences after the game. If nothing happens then there is no point

We also should remember our own minority of morons who behave offensively and disrespectfully to different cultures at every away game
Of course and as someone has pointed out on twitter hard for the FA to take the moral high ground with UEFA when they fined Huddersfield more for having a Paddy Power logo on their shirt for a pre-season game than they did Millwall for racist chanting.

Morons and Neanderthal Bulgarian so called " fans" need banning for life. But well done England team for giving them a pasting on the pitch.

Sadly in some Eastern European countries not necessarily a criminal offence. And many where it is illegal but not enforced. Bulgaria has several openly racist political parties with MPs.

Angers me that most of us just stand by and listen when it happens at our away games. Not anymore, I can’t stand another second it.

Have you heard racist abuse at our away games? Not heard it myself but I only go to a few each year and tend to sit away from the main crowd where possible. Awful if true.

I hear it everywhere I go. And I always call it out. And make people aware I’m mixed race myself. I refuse to believe white people when they say they don’t hear it. Heard it in the Albany club last week. At the match last week. City arms last week. My own great grandfather on my dads side refused to ever see me before he died. I used to get the piss taken out of me at school when I was 4 years old because my black mum would pick me up. It’s fucking everywhere.

There was some racial slurring at Rotherham. It was even caught on cam. There was some in front of us at Oxford too

I know it’s always been around, but I really feel despite efforts and demonstrations to stop it, it’s going backwards and I’m hearing more of it.

Can't even begin to imagine what that must be like. Really struggle to get my head around people being racist, just makes no sense to me at all.

100% agree. We are too busy pandering to ‘legitimate concerns’ and previously right wing ideals have become centre ideals and everything has shifted as a result. And this is the result.

I was sat right up in the corner at Rotherham so probably wasn't close enough to hear it (either that or the fact my 6 year old daughter kept prancing around, and it was all I could do to try to catch a bit of the match).

Our fans behaviour at Rotherham was disgraceful in a lot of different ways. Complete embarrassment and I definitely won't be taking my daughter again any time soon.

A lot of scumbags have felt like their views are validated increasingly in recent years and are more brazen in making themselves known.

Couldn't agree more. Definitely got worse over the last few years with figures like Tommy Robinson pushing their own brand of racism. It's rife.

I think this is relatively easily resolved.

Anyone with connections to the FIFA/UEFA/FA feel free to ask

No doubt they'll get the usual token fine, and then as far as UEFA/FIFA are concerned that'll be it dealt with. And then next time they'll do it again, because there's absolutely no Incentive for them to stop.

Now, if they're team we're suddenly banned from international competition, maybe they might sit up and take notice. When their team is banned from international football for a minimum four years, maybe they might get their house in order. And if they go through that and they repeat it, bloody ban them again for longer because its a second offence. Might sound a bit drastic, punishing players for the actions of some morons who haven't grasped that this is the 21st century, and that kind of behaviour isn't, or shouldn't be, befitting, but what else is going to get the message into their thick neanderthal brains?

No doubt in my mind. They should be out, banned, first thing tomorrow morning. They've had enough warnings and chances to sort this crap out now, so shown some bottle and deal with it properly. Show people that when you put these anti racist banners out, that anyone doesn't conform with that message doesn't get off lightly.

Funny thing is the lot saluting would be one of the first lot rounded up by the nazis back in the day.

True although during the war Bulgaria was a Nazi ally/stooge until the tide turned.

Bulgaria is the most racist, backwards country I’ve ever been to. I was considering a holiday here but I definitely won’t be doing that now. The racism is not a football problem. It’s institutionalised within their society. I’ve seen, heard and experienced so much this trip that has concerned and disappointed me that it’d take me too long to write it all so I’ve linked in some tweets (the last one is unbelievable) below to sum it all up. Mainly about the Bulgarian part of the trip but also the attitudes of some towards England fans and the problems that need stamping out within those that travel. In that respect above everything else it needs to be remembered that we’re here to support England. Too many are now turning up thinking it’s acceptable to bring their club or someone else’s into proceedings. Leave your club shirt and chanting at home. Both are not wanted or needed either at home or away games. It gives the opportunity for problems to arise.

Arrest them for what? You are assuming they have done something illegal in Bulgaria.
And abandoning the game would be exactly what they wanted.

It is illegal. Several hundred people broke Bulgarian laws last night in that stadium. The game itself was irrelevant to those causing the problems.

It’s sad but most of the Balkan countries have issues - Serbia probably the worse - I had perceived before hand that Bulgaria was not so bad !

Couple of years ago I’d have argued with you, very rarely heard outright racism, possibly because as a white guy that’s not where my attention is tuned.

Since 2016 though it’s becoming rife. Heard one person say “yeah I’m racist so what?” The other day was having a conversation about Brexit and someone actually said “I just voted Leave to get rid of the blacks”. I’m ashamed to admit I was too stunned to say anything and the conversation moved on, I won’t make that mistake again.

What the fuck is happening? I thought we agreed on this decades ago and it all seems to be going backwards. From what you say maybe it’s just people are bolder now.

Really sorry you have to go through that mate.

“Legitimate grievances” can fuck off. The BBC are as culpable as anyone giving airtime to extremists normalising their views.

They were stopping buses (public transport that they should be supporting) for a considerable amount of time. They were pushing people over in the streets. If the ones we saw aren’t nutters they’re scum

I'll have my "old fogey" rant on this and blame internet & social media.
People sat behind their keyboards have become emboldened to spout all sorts of nasty rubbish including racism. When no-one is stopping them from spouting this rubbish they begin to believe its acceptable and start expressing it more openly in public areas.
Likes of Twitter, FAcebook, google etc. more interested in making money than controlling content and then hide behind arguments of freedom of expression etc.
The rights or wrongs of whether the internet should have unlimited freedom of speech is another argument in itself.
