I'm not a big fan of Naga Munchetty, but having seen the footage of what actually led to the investigation over her apparent impartiality regarding Donald Trump's remarks, I cant help but think that Dan Walker really didn't need to drop her in it by asking her directly what she thought. Unprofessional on his part. She's not a guest. He was an idiot.

Clearly she was very angry . I do feel sorry for her now I've seen what happened even though I usually can't stand her. .

Trumps comments are lazer guidedly close to the edge of actionable racism. He knows what he is doing. Playing to the gallery that makes up a significant proportion of his support.

Can't blame people snapping. Hate modern politics.

The problem is that if you put yourself in the spotlight you are there to be shot down these days. Someone can of said something that is taken to mean something totally differently to what was meant. There is either a witch hunt on both sides of the coin or on neither.

Things are brought up these days on what happened a quarter of a century or more ago. Wrong type of fancy dress outfits is an old favourite.

These days it is best not to have an opinion on anything. Because there's plenty of people just waiting to jump on anything said for them to be able to make a point even if they know it isn't what the person meant at the time.

The BBC made a statement on the incident which was basically an apology for someone calling racism racism but we're happy to let Brendan O'Neil try and incite a riot.

The worst thing I saw was apparently they didn’t sanction Dan Walker because “no one complained”. Once you’re looking into the segment you either punish anyone or no one it doesn’t matter how it started.

It was definitely unfair to put her in the position she was by her co-presenter and I think she was being pretty restrained and I'm sure her actual thoughts would've been far stronger than she let on.

Maybe the only way she could've done it differently it to have responded with "I really don't think it's appropriate for me to say what I really think" with an appropriate scowl on her face. Says nothing and yet says everything.

Just seen the full clip. Cannot she has been sanctioned for that. Utterly ridiculous that the BBC can take exception to that, what else was she supposed to say?

It's probably one of those times when if she had bitten her tongue and politely said 'no comment' she would have regretted it all her life. She confronted it and addressed it in, what I would call, a polite and firm, measured response. Kept her dignity. Remarkable times for sure.

Like you I’m not a fan and often find her curt with guests and a poor interviewer. But on this I just can’t see what she did that deserves censure. The bbc has got this wrong and needs to apologise to her and all license fee payers.

It's not just me that's noticed this then, It can't be long before they start using the old "learn this amazing trick/secret the professionals don't want you to know' routine.

Considering they have all VAR they can possibly need...why wait for someone to complain? Surely amongst their millions they employ producers who have to supposedly comply with their own broadcasting standards let alone the industry ones? Self-reporting/investigation in such instances is surely part of their own accountability & responsibility???

Well, imo he should be sanctioned for putting her on the spot, & she was rightly sanctioned for giving such an answer. She could have simply deflected it & said...'I'm not here to give my personal opinions on any matter...let's move on' or something to that effect.

Surely they are both trained to not do what either of them did? They are supposedly trained professionals & have instruction on how to handle such things don't they? It's a knowledge, skills & attitude thing & on this issue she let her attitude get the better of her & he was deliberately provocative perhaps based on some off camera discussion on the matter.

Absolutely spot on. They could have had that conversation off camera. Seemed like nothing but self indulgence and lack of professionalism.
