2 drains are good luck, 3 are bad....
You've lost me there m8!

Can you explain please?

They aren't drainage actually, telecoms covers apparently.

Some are in 2's and some in 3's. If you step on the 3 covers, it's bad luck apparently.

It’s getting repaired but I can’t get my head around the amount I’m getting.

I’ve had four flats in the last 18 months. I think two were down to the builders at work not cleaning up the car park, but even so that’s more than I’ve had in the 20 years of driving previously.

people that say 'football fans are fickle'

you start supporting a team as a kid - and watch them for 50+ years. During that time they are mainly shit. Crap owners come and go, to be replaced by more crap owners. Each year you get your hopes up, only for the team to fail yet again. At the end of 50 years you've spent the majority of your free time watching/thinking/talking about your team, and have spent literally tens of thousands of pounds on tickets/travel/kit/programmes/videos and novelty mugs. Your team has won fuck all, all of your 'non-football' friends and family have taken the piss out of you, and you've wasted just about every weekend repeatedly watching this shit-show. And at the end of 50 years?...you still support them.

and that's being fickle?

Have seen Arsenal Fans TV? That's fickle.

What you have described isn't a fickle fan.

Sam Smith changes pronouns to they/them

This sort of thing, I haven't got an issue with someone being gay, trans or whatever.

But it's the obsession with pronouns that I think is getting out of hand...
I suspect this is my generation's racism, as it were.

I genuinely don't understand it. I'd call myself more liberal than... many around here ;) but this I don't understand.

In 30 years, that'll undoubtedly make me bigoted old granddad in the corner!

I think the "they" is non-binary. So basically one day Sam Smith may feel like a female, then the next day a male, then the next neutral.

I am sure I am probably wrong though and I have offended everyone!

It's that you identify as neither 100% male, nor 100% femalke, and it's gender rather than sex.

It was slightly amusing to see James Martin go on a twitter rant against PC'ness however, and inadvertantly identify himself as a member of a gay subculture. That'll learn him.

That's brilliant that article :joyful:

"Very much like being vegan, being non-binary appears to require the person in question to inform anyone within earshot of their chosen pronouns and lecture them in great detail on the emotional turmoil they once endured when some bigoted guy at the McDonald’s Drive-thru window refused to address them as ‘Zir/Zem’, so they demanded to speak to their superior and eventually, after making a song and dance on social media, got him fired. It must be exhausting. Imagine having to sustain that level of self-absorption for any length of time."

What happens if they commit a crime and get sent to prison, would it be a male or female prison?

These are the subtleties that I don't quite understand!

There is a poster on here that will be able to say, so I apologise in advance if I get this wrong ;) but I believe the prison would be decided on their sex, not their gender.
There have been cases where people (and i use the term advisedly) have been sent to a prison that is appropriate to their gender, not to their sex, and things have gone wrong. In one instance, there was a geezer who said that he "identified as female", so they sent him to a women's prison where he proceeded to rape a number of the other inmates. Grade A c**t! They seem to have learnt their lesson now, and put them in a sex-appropriate prison, no matter what they claim to be. There is one bloke who identifies as female in HMP Long Lartin (max security) near my home, and is kept in isolation so s/he doesn't get beaten up at every opportunity. Mind you, there are about 200 of the worst sex offenders in there!

Good to hear you’re back at work Marty. Just tell them you had the shits!

Cheers dude, It's nice to get back into a bit of a routine again. Work continue to be good with me and have got me back on reduced hours for the time being. The department I work is having a bit of a rough time of it at the mo, as off 2 weeks ago, 4 out of 6 of us were on long term sick. Probably the worst thing is, is that my uniform isn't even close to fitting now, put on 10 kgs in the 7 months I was off.

Patriotism
The quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one's country.

But...the main point is more bringing politics into a great event like the proms. Pisses me off.

But...it’s their flag still. Should the Scots be pissed people are waving the Union Flag?

When they switched to the proms in the park in Scotland and Wales, check the flags they were waving. The proms is a very British thing, each Country giving their own sea shanty's etc. It is not a European thing.

Then you see people singing Rule Britannia at the top of their voices, whilst waving a European flag....

You want to wave your European flag? go to Eurovision

It’s really not. It’s just the new Goth or Emo. They’ll all look back terribly embarrassed when they’re chartered accountants.

Honest question: do you not think someone can see being European as part of their British identity?

I’m extremely proud that my nation was until recently a massive player in the worlds largest trading block and wielded foreign power well beyond its stature because of it. I see the EU as an extension of us like I see the UK as an extension of England and England as an extension of Coventry.

Would you tell off someone waving an England flag at a City game?

It’s make less sense at a Eurovision where countries are competing, but at an event about British pride, why the hell not?
