Obviously, this depends on if you think death is "lights out", but has anyone had any experiences with Mediums etc and they've said things that couldn't be made up/they could not know through research?

All made up

Based on experience?

I do believe there's a lot of tricksters (mainly all), but there was one woman who said things in an off hand way to me as I passed her (i.e I had not booked a reading etc) that was too specific and accurate.

Only encountered bullshit. I remember a work colleague recommending someone, so I paid her a visit, but it was all crap I felt.

'You come from a family of four people.'

'Ummm....five.

'Ah, yes, four or five.'

It was all very vague and I felt like I had to lead it and she was just guessing, or making stuff up on the spot.

I also got the 'you are going on a long trip soon' nonsense.

Derren Brown has shown what can be done with a bit of suggestion and manipulation.

Yeah I understand all that. I went to a group one for a laugh n it was all very vague.

The woman in question, told me stuff rather than asked questions to lead me to what she would say. Basically, just reeled off loads of stuff that was spot on without me saying anything.

Few years back I had a massive heart attack. Basically I died and the fantastic doctors shocked me back to life. I saw the white lights and my grandfather was there saying that we are not ready for you yet and pushed me back up. Before it happened I always thought life after death etc was a load of crap. I went to a gypsy in a caravan in the city centre before my heart attack and she told me my grandfather was watching over me.

People will believe/see/hear things that their conscience wants them to see. Like when you buy a new car and then every other car (you never saw before) you see, is your car. It when you get a new particular hobby/interest, somebody on tele or radio talks about it, you now pay interest whereas 2 weeks ago, you would of just ignored it.

It's an hour of your life, but well worth watching this Derren Brown documentary on it. Pretty much shows the lot of them up for the frauds they are.

I was told my some old gypsy type that I would one day "live across the water." I always assumed she meant living abroad in Spain or somewhere. I ended up on the Isle of Wight, so I guess she was right, eh?

Firstly, glad you survived and hope you've been well since.

But secondly, he pushed you back UP - have you been a bad boy then? I also like the 'not ready for you yet'. Sounds like they'd not got the spare bed made up!

Had one once, she tried to blag it. Tried to read body language, didn't give anything away and she was just clutching at straws.

Had a few arguments about them with my missus, she thinks there's something in it I don't.
Think is we went to see Derren Brown once and he did a medium routine in his act then afterwards explained how he did it, how they work and what nonsense it is but that still didn't dissuade her.

For things like the white light, out of body experiences, it’s going to be the sudden surge in brain activity right at the end.

Didn't realise how much ketamine they throw in to people in ressusitation until I was in there with my mum.
Two nurses were doing a stock check of a drugs cabinet near to my mum's bed.
They had ketamine in every form imaginable, I thought to myself at the time, that's the outer body experience explained.

This is an interesting article about DMT, which seems to get released naturally as well
A DMT trip 'feels like dying' - and scientists now agree - BBC Three

I know people who have taken it recreationally and say that it’s had a majorly positive impact on their lives overall.

Business men's lunch.
Meant to be some mad shit. Never tried it myself.
There's been a lot of proven benefits to LSD. A lot of experimentation with micro dosing.
It's been proven to stop cluster headaches. They're trying to develop a meditional version without the tripping side affects.

Haha yeah it sounds beyond intense. I have a friend who did it in Peru back in 2012 before it became a trend.

I also know people who’ve taken LSD and it’s also majorly improved their outlook on life and benefited them.

There’s a lot to be said for microdosing I think, never done it myself but would be open to it.

When I was 17 I took 6 times the recommended dose of magic mushrooms at 2am after a day and night of excessive of various cocktails, needless to say it didn’t end well and it put me off!

I’d recommend Huxley’s Doors of Perception which gives a real insight into the benefits of mescaline and, although I had to get a dictionary out every other word, is a really interesting read.

A mate of mine went to Uni in Bristol a few years ago and has done a lot of research into the positive effects of MDMA.

Society has a real perception that all ‘illegal’ drugs are bad but clinical research shows that the right drugs in the right doses have massive physical and mental benefits.

Too be fair I did a good bit of LSD as a teenager and a fair few pills over the years and I haven’t turned out that bad.

There was an experiment done in the States in the only lab that was licensed to produce LSD for research.
The got 12 proffesional people together, can't remember the profession but there were architects, lawyers etc.
They were told to bring with them documentation relating to an issue in their work that they were struggling with.

They were given LSD and after so long they were told to start reading the documentation they bought with them.
In the proceeding weeks apparently there were patents submitted and papers written all relating to the issues they'd been struggling with.

While this experiment was going on the lab was served with a writ to cease production of LSD immediately, obviously whoever served it was oblivious to the fact there were 12 pillars of society tripping their nuts off in the back room.

Funnily enough I was talking to someone last night who had a massive heart attack a few years back and was technically dead for a few minutes and he said there was nothing and everything just went black and he now doesn't believe in any afterlife.

I would say your type of experience is fairly rare. Maybe you're lucky and going to heaven while the majority of us are damned to an eternity of darkness.

Remember the media mogul Kerry Paccker?
Lost a ridiculous amount one night in Vegas, ran in to millions.
When asked about it he referred back a couple of years to when he'd had a massive heart attack and was dead for some ridiculous amount of time, he said omething along the lines of I'm not bringing it with me, I've been on the other side and theres nothing.

This won't help what I'm trying to explain, but I actually worked with her, so did know her. I randomly walked up to her when I was do overtime before work, so it was out of the ordinary. I said I saw a group medium the night before, and she said she didn't rate said medium. She then said, a man who has passed with a heart attack who had 4 sons, was watching over me. I said my Dad was one of 3 sons. Then she said, one of them had passed. I took a while to remember, but my dad's oldest brother died at aged 1. There's literally no way she could have found that out off hand.

People who have seizures will tell you in the earlier stages of a seizure you get an intense feeling of deja vu and then your brain delivers a false event/memory to your subconscious then depending on the type of seizure you’re having you either come around and sometimes the false event/memory is lost, sometimes recalled or you go to a grand mal.

All through the power of irregular electrical energy across the brain causing a surge in brain activity.

I read a few Derren Brown books while I was in college and he explains cold reading and the whole world of psychics very well and also explained in a round about way of how it's done.

I was at a house party one night years ago and got chatting to a girl and when she asked me what I did, I jokingly said I was a psychic but she took me half seriously and asked me to give her a reading. I decided to go ahead and maybe I'd impress her enough that she'd give me her number.

I told her that she had quite a happy childhood but sometimes she worried that her sister was getting more attention than her (I'd asked previously about siblings) she nodded her head. I then closed my eyes and began to look as if I was slightly in pain and said that her teenage years were tougher and that she often fought with her parents and said mean things to them which she still sometimes thinks about and regrets. There was a boy in school that she loved but never had the courage to tell him. She nodded again and looked impressed.

I then smiled and talked about her pets and how she loved them so much but that I felt pain too, especially about one of them. The one she loved the most. She interjected and said her dog died when she was 14. She started crying and I immediately began to shit myself and started nervously laughing and told her I was just making it up and that the statements that I made were really vague that would match nearly everyone.

She walked away in tears and got off with someone else in another room which I very much deserved.

Cold reading absolutely works though. Even for a complete novice.
