Same for me. Would love to see England win something but if it was a choice between them and city there's only one winner.

I'm with you Otis. Would be massive. For me I think its because the rest have my family have no interest in CCFC, or football for that matter. When the major tournaments come round though, they're as passionate as I am about England.

I bloody love international tournaments, I’m not at all patriotic I just love all the football.
In this respect it’s cov before country every time. I will, or used to at least, support teams with cov players in them. Come on Romania, Sweden, Ireland etc etc

Without being too much of a humbug.... the World Cups/Euros get taken over by the once every two year wonders, filming themselves chucking beer around etc... in the last World Cup, one work colleague at the time just wanted England to beat Croatia so he could “film himself jumping in the canal”, and a female colleague just said “its coming home” about 20 times a day. Neither gave a stuff about it 24 hours after we went out...
When City do something it just seems more “ours”, and the tribal nature of club football just makes it more important...
I can’t imagine Moldavan scoring at Villa, or Huckerby vs Man United, ever being beaten by anything England could ever do...

For me it is City only, not bothered about England don't even know the players as I dont follow the Prem.
But fairplay to CJ loves his football goes all over the world not bad for someone who cant drive, ask him how to get to any ground in the country and he will put you right. He is a top man.

For me CCFC > England any day of the week.
FA cup vs World Cup? Only one choice for me. And I’d love it if England won something, anything really. But I’d love it way, way more if city won something.
That said it is totally a personal thing and I fully get why people put country before club. Just not for me.

I'm not a massive fan of international competition in general as it helps fuel the fire of patriotism and jingoism BUT I do get caught up in the tournaments.
The only scenario I'd now accept England doing better than CCFC is for a World Cup win - nothing less. Just so I could experience it happening. And then the CCFC thing would be say missing out on promotion (and it not having an effect on us the following season and we remained competitive). If it involved relegation then no deal.
Of course if it involved getting new owners, a stadium the club owned, good players and the academy bringing through a host of top class players then England could never qualify for another tournament for the rest of my life for all I care. Make us a major force in English football and competitive in Europe and England could lose every single game from here on in.

If one is doing badly at least there’s some consolation by the other doing well. To be honest with CCFC permanently screwed and the England side full of tattoo laden millionaires it’s not a great choice. A shame really, I was obsessed with both as a boy.

Well, that's it, we are more United as a country and when England have big games all the neighbours engage in conversation with me and get excited and England flags start going up in the windows. It becomes a universal talking point.
Unfortunately, in Cov, as with cities up and down the country, this city is filled with fans of other teams, so Liverpool, Man U, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs supporters etc.

Although I was only 9 I seem to remember the city coming to a standstill when we won the cup...it seemed to dominate everything weeks before and for months after, no?
Some years later an RE teacher, who was not from cov originally and was not a football fan, gave an assembly and said he thought cov was a tough city but when we won the cup the whole mood changed...people we’re smiling! Didn’t 250k people come out to see the open top bus? Cant all have been avid cov fans.
I think I’m saying that I think the city would go crazy in the loveliest way if we won the cup again...and I’d drown in my own tears!

For me it's a matter of getting back where you belong.... with promotion you reap the benefits for a long time... well the next season at least. That's what you win. With the world cup it's a one off high... so I'm going for the long term high and the possibility of even more to come... City first!

Pretty certain we won't get 250,000 for the City anymore either. We were a top flight club back then. We have sunk since and more kids will have followed the big Premier clubs rather than City, who have struggled badly until very recently.
Being in Brum is hardly going to help either.

I don’t remember many kids my age being city fans back then and our attendance were pretty low...15k on a good day?
I think our recent Wembley trips have proven, the cov population will turn up to the opening of an envelope if they think there’s a cup at the end of it!

It's a very short time in football. Look at 5 odd years ago and Leicester. They were same league as us and just met luck. Bolton, on the other hand, were Premier League not long ago and signing million pound players, now look at them. I think if we got promoted this season, went back to the Ricoh and did well in a cup run we would get a lot of people turn out.
