At least he has been honest about not being bothered about Northern Ireland and letting it go being worth it for Brexit. It is probably a majority amongst Brexiteers (in England) and the UK in general. Most people couldn't care less about NI.

Do you think the DUP will get any members elected given they refuse the backstop? My guess is they will

Of course it’s a prop. As if you give a flying fuck about Ireland as if macron when he bleats about the Belfast surrender agreement as if he even knows what it is.

Last time we discussed it you thought it was a single page fact sheet on the governments website, you didn’t even know that it’s actually 2 agreements.

Yes I do give a fuck. Don’t judge me by your moral standards.

I don’t believe you’re actually so ignorant to believe it’s a prop or that Brexit poses no issues to NI. But that makes it worse. Your hatred of the EU and the Germans overrides any empathy you might have otherwise felt for the people of Ireland and when you’re backed into a corner by the rational arguments of others you’ve nowhere to go but to accuse them of using it as a prop. That’s low.

Yes I did Tony next you’ll be telling everyone the parliament act means the prime minister can’t set the date of the next election

The flaw of course in the GFA is dear old Veradker doesn’t want the basket case that is Northern Ireland does he?

At least you're now admitting to having some pretty extreme and minority views, including those which are shared by the RIRA.
The population of NI is overwhelmingly in favour of the GFA.

But they overwhelmingly return DUP MPs? Surely that makes DUP policies the norm?

NI is British and the DUP support the tories,Corbyn would probably ask that other lot to take their seats if it meant getting into number ten!!!

So the DUP will lose every seat then?

You best hope they do as that could be seen as an indicator to the British government to trigger a referendum for independence, especially if they lost them to Sinn Féin. You would understand that if you actually took the time to read and digest the link you posted earlier thinking it backed your argument up when in fact it dismissed it.

No you didn’t and I admitted my mistake as well you know.

Even if you’re right about Veradker and I seriously doubt that you are, it isn’t his choice. It’s the choice of the people of Ireland and they overwhelmingly voted for the GFA and the opportunity to unite Ireland if that’s the will of the people of the north. Again you would understand that if you actually took the time to read your own link.

I’ve visited Northern Ireland my whole life. All through the troubles, the ceasefire and post GFA. Not been this year but that’s unusual not the norm. To describe it as a basket case is only another example of your ignorance and detachment from reality. Given the opportunity Northern Ireland grows and blossoms, I’ve witnessed it first hand. It certainly still has problems and plenty of room for improvement but there isn’t a part of the U.K. that doesn’t suffer from that. You’re a ridiculous hysterical person.

On a positive note The Mash Report is on tonight. I hope Geoff Norcott is on, he’s a rare commodity. A leaver with a sense of humour.

Just saw Johnson went full on Trump/Salvini with his police speech, i'm just surprised he didn't put on a police uniform himself.

His 'speech' was actually surreal.

Clearly gone off script. Cummings is going to put him on the naughty step.

Talking of Cummings why hasn’t “neutral” Astute gone ballistic about his appointment?

If there is to be a general election they've got their work cut out keeping him hidden. His performance the last couple of days in parliament and the speech today has been dreadful.

Footage of him out and about with the general public showed all you need to know about this tosser

At this rate he isn’t going to last long at all, he’s massively out of his depth.

Hopefully enough people see it and don’t just cast their vote based on the covers of the Mail and Sun.

I still can’t believe that he was taken seriously as a potential PM after that tape of him and his girlfriend arguing came out. Yet here we are.

He'll be ok unfortunately, he'll be up against Corbyn.

It’s disappointing the amount of apparent pleasure people appear to be getting from what is the biggest political mess of our lifetimes. Most normal people I know (from both sides of the argument) just want this done and out the way, not just kicked into the long grass (again) which is what has just happened. The damage the continued uncertainty is doing is probably outweighing even a No Deal (which I have never wanted by the way) would do/have done.

Johnson might well be out of his depth, only time will tell but what the fuck is he supposed to do ? The country voted out, whether you agree with his methods or not, he’s at least trying to respect that decision, however, he’s been stifled by Parliament and now can’t hold an election because he can’t get the two thirds requirement. So we are at this impasse and now in the hands of the EU....is that really good news ?

Ps Looking around the Parliament I reckon there are plenty out their depth as MPs let alone PM.

Should it be implemented even if all objective analysis points towards it being a mistake? When really all this saga has shown is that our own politicians have done a much better job of screwing us than their European counterparts?

You think Corbyn will win a GE?

Not necessarily because we have an incredibly fragmented population because of Brexit. But Labour’s domestic policies are better than any other party.

I guess people have to decide if they prefer Boris’ tub-thumping British Empire bullshit.

He’s been stifled by his own false promises. Unfortunately he’s lied himself into a position where he’s been exposed to be a liar. Even his own brother can’t stand by him.

We’ve been in limbo since the day the UK government walked into Brussels giving it ‘Billy Big Bollocks’ because they thought that the needs of the 27 other counties were less important than the ideology of 1....

Hardly Ian. The EU dictated the sequencing and timing of everything. They wouldn’t even discuss us leaving until we triggered article 50 (which started the clock ticking) They then put in place the fact that NI border backstop and divorce bill would need to be agreed before discussing a trade deal. If done concurrently the backstop probably wouldn’t be the issue it is today

Barnier (and the solidarity of the EU countries staying silent) have run rings around our shambles of shit Parliament. They could easily have had 27 countries pulling in different directions but haven’t because they knew the value of solidarity. Unfortunately when the time came for parliament to deliver they have been found wanting.

Ps Have a quick look at the history of EU referendums and countries that voted against treaties. There’s only ever one winner

He is largely responsible for the current mess that the country is in now and will end up doing a hell of a lot more for the remain movement than any march or protest.
