I have been to Manhattan, and i quite enjoyed it, but i was there with a work colleague so we just did the majority of cheap to-do's and walked a long way. It's one of those places you have to go to, but i much prefer Washington DC. Seattle's cool too, and i enjoyed the experience of being in Madison, WI (my first trip to US).

I did enjoy aspects of Manhatten but I just think the negatives outweigh the positives.

I spent a day in Brooklyn and found that to be more in line with my expectations but it didn't blow me away.

the phrase "it's time to 'GO RACING'", or "let's 'GO RACING'", as used by the various dickheads that present F1.

Sorry, but need to repeat this one in the context of the Bury and Bolton stories:-

Reporters/presenters/correspondents in the meedja who ask incessantly "How does that make you feel?" and "What does X mean to you?"

How about thinking of some original fucking questions, wankers?

So where is best in the US

Also wasn’t bowled over by NY
Liked Boston much more
Not been anywhere else but give me a reason to go back.
Boston was good. Also did San Antonio which was... different. Not sure I liked it(!) but, having travelled that far to get there, it felt like some place else, whereas Boston could have easily been a suburb of London in places.

Deliveroo not bringing my dinner and getting pissy when I try and get a refund even though it turns out their rider just nicked it.
Deliveroo not delivering to my house even though they deliver from Miller and Carter which is literally at the bottom of the road. Miller and Carter also don't do takeaway so I can't order and go and collect it.

I literally cannot imagine having a steak, or any restaurant food (bar pizza or burgers) delivered in a box so have never tried deliveroo. Is it any good?

Seattle's great, the whole PNW as a whole really. I'd happily live there
Yep. Don't know if it has changed at all, but when I went over, Seattle came out top on best places to live in the US and Denver came second. I adored Denver. So close to the Rocky mountains.

My brother lived there and for a while I contemplated doing the same and joining him.

That depends on what you like and what time of year you can go.
For instance you wouldn't want to go to New York in the winter (unless you are a skier) or Arizona in the summer.
The USA is huge and has just about everything.
You can probably consider each state to be a different country with each big city having its own unique characteristics.
Each state has its own tourist authority and you can visit their websites to find all the information you might need.
I just got back from a trip to Nevada and Utah. The scenery was spectacular, but it might not be to everyone's taste.

The only food that keeps well (hot) while being delivered is sauce dishes like curry and even then the meat continues cooking so you can end up with a substandard dish.

Pizzas are hit and miss depending on how quick the driver is but I'd never order burgers or anything else because they spoil very quickly.

I tend to go for collection when I get takeaway for that reason, unless its a curry. Never really thought about any reasoning behind it but what you've put makes sense.

Miller and Carter is literally 350 metres from my house, just measured it on Google Maps, so that should survive the journey if they delivered but when I look at some of the places you can order from you can get things from the other side of town delivered to the bottom of my road. Given most, if not all, of thier delivery drivers are on bike I'm not sure I'd trust it.

Seems very popular though.

It does seem very popular. I have a Chinese up the road that deliver so quickly that I barely have time to heat the plates up and the food is so much better for the short journey. I'd probably order burgers and the like if I knew it'd come as quickly as the Chinese but some bloke peddling my food across town on a bike doesn't sit well with me.

Lorry drivers who think they can bully other motorway users. Had this dick this morning who moved into the middle lane to get past people on the m6/m42 junction near coleshill. I was in the inside lane ready to turn off at coleshill and this idiot indicated whilst right next to me and tried to push into the lane, I couldn’t go anywhere and had to beep constantly. He was obviously banking on me braking considerably to let him through, complete twat

Take it to the EU thread! (We're only here in the first place because the likes of Rees-Mogg voted to remain, and against their government)

People that call the '#' symbol hashtag instead of hash when it's not in the context of Twitter.

Stupid twats.

Trying to open a plastic carrier bag in a supermarket while the cashier scans items with Olympic speed and everyone in the queue is looking at you as you start tearing the bag apart.

You must live by me! I’m like 100m from Miller and Carter (and can get Deliveroo delivered - if you can make it to Daleway Road you can pick it up from me :p)

Used to live at the end of Daleway road when the Stivechall arms was like the Wild West and it used to close early - could crawl home literally

When you're on the toilet and some twat tries to open the door without knocking to check if anyone is occupying it.
which reminds me..
what is the correct thing to say, if you are the person who is on the toilet, when someone knocks on the door?
I normally go with '"just a minute.." (or similar) - which is obviously a lie, as I will then stay put for long enough for the other person to bugger off and find another toilet.
