Marosi - 7. Couple of great saves.

Mcallum - 6 Played okay but did leave his man a few times. We looked weaker down that side of the pitch.
Hyam - got a few decent blocks in, one crucial one from a dangerous cross. Just feel like neither him or Rose is a keader
Rose - I don't really know how to rate the centre halves. I feel like we miss some aggression and leadership. And hard to give anyone a good mark at the heart of defence when conceding 3 goals. Might edit and come back.
Dabo - 7. Our most dangerous player on the break I think. He fucked up twice, obviously the own goal and earlier on in the game he left someone completely unmarked in the box. Other than that (lol) he was solid. Would've been an 8 if it wasn't for them.

Westbrooke - 7. Was critical of him early on but great free kick (shit keeping) and also in the second goal showed great thinking and confidence by cutting in and laying it off to Godden instead of to Jobello on his left which was the easy option. When we have a fully fit squad though he's never starting 11.

Kelly - 5. Got bullied all game by Mackie and then that fuck up at the end cost us 2 points. People might say i'm being harsh
Shipley

Hiwula - 5. Honestly he's been dog shit the last few games. Shit touch, can't shoot on his left foot. The most infuriating thing though is he doesn't have the right work ethic. Doesn't chase things down like other players. You can get away with that if you're class but if you're having a mare then you can at least put a shift in.
Godden - 8. Great headed goal. Loves
Jobello - 6 He needs to get the ball in the box earlier from a bit deeper. Godden thrives off those balls. He also think's he is faster than he is (stolen off someone on the match thread) because he tries to take people on by just running past them and can't. Looks a bit awkward on the ball.

subs:
O hare - 7. Great goal...but should've had two. I love how quickly he makes advanced runs late on from midfield and can be played through. He's also got a bit of an aggressive streak in him and isn't scared to get stuck in. I'd start over Westbrooke/Shipley.

Kelly let us down. Just when we needed everyone to keep their heads our most experienced player slides in needlessly. Got sucked into too many personal battles and was more interested in falling on the floor and trying to get people sent off.

Not sure how Mackie bullied Kelly he’s a skinny little runt,I feel McFadz will come back in we miss that leadership & toughness.Jobello & Hiwula for me I don’t feel are good enough I know it’s early but they are frustrating to watch.Jobello is not even close to the player Luke Thomas was for us last season.

Marosi 7 2 good saves good distribution
Dabo 7 obviously didn’t get a call or had a bet on scoring an own goal. Generally though our best player for me.
Hyam 6 poor 2nd half
Rose 6 poor 2nd half
McCallum 6 looked out in his feet the last 15 minutes he was in.
Westbrooke 7 Good free kick but their keeper made it look better.
Kelly 5 bullied all day what was he thinking at the end.
Shipley 6 decent assist for 3rd goal but so often made schoolboy errors.
Hiluwa 5 Generally poor seems to lose concentration
Godden 7 didn’t stop trying good second goal.
Jobello 5 first half was good outlet and did well. 2nd half dead on his feet looked totally knackered with 29 mins to go.
O’Hare 7 looks really good should have had 2 and should start for me.
Robins 1 poor decisions on subs cost us 2 points. Jobello should have been off with at least 20 minutes to go.

Fadz should of started today in my eyes. Really like Hyam, but Rose and Fadz is our 1st choice CH pairing.
Hopefully Allen will be back soon aswell, he should be able to use his experience and help us see out games.
People always going in about our "strong" defence. "Doesnt matter if we dont score that fulls as we have a solid defence". Based on what exactly? So far, we've had a toothless Gillingham, a bunch of 15 year olds and if not for a good save and a hit bar would of conceded from Southends only 2 chances of that game. The 3 teams (pompy, watford and now oxford) that have asked questions of our defence have each put 3 past us. A team that has lost 3 in 4 and only scored 4 goals prior today have literally just given out defence the run around for 90mins.
We have no depth. Mason out, McCallum looked like a lost little boy today. EVERYTHING Oxford had came down their right side. And Dabo, does something and looks great, then he looks bang average 2 mins later. Seems so inconsistent it's crazy, and his cover??

Entertaining game, gutted to not get the win considering being 2-0 up and then going 3-2 up the 90th min. Kelly had a very rare rush of blood and played a huge hand in their equaliser.

O'Hare and Allen in that midfield will help.

Always a good day out at Oxford, easy to get to and plenty of parking. Got back to Warwick quicker than from St Andrews! We left after O'Hara scored and I presumed we would win, then we heard the cheer. Bugger.

Marosi - 8 - Best keeper we've had since Joe Murphy
Dabo - 6 - Great going forward. Looks solid most of the time. Just one of those games.
McCallum - 6 - Today showed his inexperience. He's lightweight too and needs to bulk up a bit
Hyam - 7 - Steady as usual
Rose - 6 - Not as good as his other games, but still a great find and will become a fans favourite, I think.
Shipley - 5 - He maybe "one of our own" but he struggles with simple passes. Set pieces were awful too. Should have been subbed at half-time.
Kelly - 6 - A poor game by his standards. Didn't stamp his authority on the game like he usually does
Westbrooke - 7 - Great freekick and some good tackling. Will only get better.
Jobello - 4 - Not one of his best games, but I think there's something there.
Hiwula - 4 - Pretty anonymous.
Godden - Never stopped running, will get a hatful if he gets the service

O'Hara - 8 - Quality showed as soon as he came on. Should have scored before from Jobello's great cross, but the goal he scored was ace.

A bit harsh on McCullum Liquid. He had no protection in front of him from Hiwula and often had to deal with two players. About 100 crosses were pinged in from the left side as a result. We should certainly have made tactical changes to stop this far earlier.

And all players make mistakes including Kelly - and to be fair his mistake was a result of total commitment in chasing down the ball. If some of our other players had shown such commitment throughout the game I'd be very happy.

On another completely different point....Dabo - interesting game. Fantastic contribution to the break-away goal. Not really troubled by crosses being pinged in from his side (so defensively he had the right hand side under control) - everything was pinged in from the left. All combined with two major defensive mistakes - one of which cost us the goal. But ultimately when you have to deal with about 100 crosses pinged in from the left - the pressure is going to tell on the defence. And I've scored a nearly identical own goal myself - so makes me feel a lot better!

Just thinking what Robins could have done during this game only to negate all of those crosses pinged in from the left.

A radical switch to 3-5-2?

Marosi

Dabo Rose McFaz Hyam Watson

O'Hare Kelly Shipley

Godden Hiwula

With Dabo and Watson pressing high? In this formation and to add to our defence at corners, I'd ideally bring on Max for Hiwula but that would be 4 subs!

It’s shit to get out of. I can get back from St Andrews to Rugby quicker than we got of that car park.

Ah but we left after we scored the third, so game was still going on by the time we got to our car.

We need to be better 2-0 up which sounded like we didn’t deserve but game management needs to be better McFadz would of been a big help in that defence today especially when mackie is giving out rough treatment. That was a performance of last season to buckle like we did we go 2-0 & collapsed under pressure very naive.Honestly can’t wait for Allen to come in and add some energy into that midfield I feel him kelly & O’Hare will be very strong as this level.Robins has got to get Hiwula & Jobello going we can’t continue to carry them you’ve got Godden up there working his socks off with them pair either side of him I bet he’s thinking wtf is up with these 2 it’s simply not good enough from them.

We were under the cosh from the off but managed to mug them with 2 goals...things were looking weak in midfield and needed changing..Kelly was having to do more and more and not getting much help from Westbrooke and Shipleys careless sloppy passing yet again created more work for Kelly, maybe if the guy wasnt so knackered he would have made that tackle near the end..
Hiwula was fucking dreadful today and offered absolutely zilch, Jobello had the ideas in his head and is maybe not quite fit but his legs wouldnt go as fast as he perhaps wanted them too.
Mccalum was completely overrun and got no help either from Hiwula or the manager.
Godden ran his socks off but needs more help the defence were being overrun because of our midfield and despite leading we were lucky to come away with a point ... bad day at the office but at least we didnt lose, O'hare has to start next match

We got back to Warwick about five to six, so worth missing their goal.

Plenty of parking on the road, very easy getaway. Never understood why anybody would park in a stadium car park and expect to get out quickly.

Marosi 7 Good with the ball at his feet and couple of decent saves.

Dabo 6 Was our best player but loses marks for the comedy own goal.Jobello didn’t put in a shift for him either.

Hyam 6 Was good first half and got in some important headers/blocks. Not so much second half.

Rose 6 Similar to Hyam and has an uncomfortable time 2nd half. Will be a massive player for us in the future though.

McCallum 5 Had an absolute stinker and should have been taken off long before he was. Got tore to shreads.

Kelly 5 Criminal decision to slide in
and play a part in the Oxford 3rd goal. Didn’t have a great afternoon up till that point and was outplayed all game. Worst game for a while but can’t really do it on his own in what was a weak midfield all day.

Westbrooke 6 A decent enough free kick helped by not great positioning from the keeper. Not sure if I am missing something but I just don’t see what he offers us but has scored 2 goals somehow?

Shipley 5 15 minutes started off well but I know people like to say he’s “one of our own” but it would be nice if he passed to one of our own!

Jobello 5 Whipped in a few decent balls but when we were under the hammer, especially second half, he didn’t do his bit and work hard to help out.

Hiwula 5 Hasn’t been at the races and could have played square balls across on more than one occasion but instead seen his name in the Sunday papers. Didn’t help out his full back McCallum who carried the can.

Godden 7 Ran his socks off and 1 chance-1 goal, can’t say fairer than that. Didn’t get any service all game really.

Subs- O’Hare 7 Had a chance to score but straight at the keeper and then redeemed himself by scoring shortly after. Exactly what you want a substitute to do-make an impact.

McFadzean/Watson N/A

As much as the manor of the result was disappointing to everyone there the bigger picture is we didn’t deserve the win, didn’t play well but still scored 3 goals and didn’t lose the game. That’s the sign of a good team isn’t it? Robins maybe could have made the changes earlier but got it right with O”Hare I guess.
2 points on average per game gets you up there although obviously it’s still early doors.
At least we got our £24 worth!

Much unfair marking & comments on McCallum here without any recognition that he was hung out to dry by a lack of support from Hiwula, and was having to cover both Henry and Cadden on his own as a result. Mason wold have also struggled under those same circumstances.

The most sensible post on this thread :emoji_clap:
