Transfer Rumour David Meyler. (1 Viewer)

So, having spent a lot of time with McNulty, seems McNulty might be off to Sunderland.
It also seems that both Burge and Willis received advice from Meyler about moving to Sunderland.
A) What is Meylers love affair with Sunderland all about?
B) With his lack of input on the pitch, and his apparent head turning in the camp was this signing a bad one? Or am I being slightly unfair on him?

1. Didnt he play for them
2. No you are correct, but Sunderland are a big club and even without meyler advice players would want to play there at this level

He was at Sunderland for a few years. I assumed the players who left were going whatever happened so them going to Sunderland in particular doesn't really bother me a great deal.

Hardly head turning, more likely that Willis/Burge possibly spoke to him about what Sunderland was like, training ground, places to live etc

Don’t think it would take Meyler to convince players Sunderland are a decent club to play for, let’s take away this silly rivalry that’s built up but they can get 40000 gates and 5000+ to a lot of away games.

So he obviously seen something on Twitter and has replied his answers.
Interesting Burge had already Signed for Sunderland before they spoke. I wonder how soon that had happened. When he was waffling on about championship clubs at as I wonder?? Well, egg on both Burges and Sunderlands face.
Will end well either way, he'll either be benching every week, or he'll fuck up their promotion.
Either way, hes not our player anymore so hooray to whomever organised it, meyler, his agent or whoever. Well played.

And also, why did Robin's say their was a contract for Wilis on the table but willis says Coventry wasnt an option??
Is one or the other lying? Or had he dragged his heels so long expecting a bigger contract we signed McFadzean instead?

I don't know if he gives the ball away...becauseiveneverseenhimplay...

I think Coventry wasnt an option means that he rejected our offer because it was too low, then had a number of higher offers he was considering

From what Robins said earlier in pre-season, it seems like he dragged his heels so they moved on, signed McFadzean and rescinded the contract offer. I thought he'd get a championship club, and I'm assuming he did too.

Robins mentioned it earlier that the contract offer was on the table until the end of the season and when it wasn't signed they shook hands after the last match and moved on.

Surprised he’s only just turned 30. Honestly thought he was 34/35.

Will have more spare time to play fifa now

Could see his legs had gone last season and he couldn't run tbf so not a huge surprise. Had some decent contracts at PL level so should have done ok out of the game. I assume with tapping everyone up he has aspirations of becoming an agent!

• After a few hard days of thinking I have decided to retire from playing professional football. The injuries I sustained to my right knee have eventually caught up with me and I am left with no other option. It’s tough to take but I know deep down it’s the correct decision. I always knew this day would come but I never expected it to be so soon. I’d like to thank everyone I’ve played with, every manager I’ve played for and of course the football clubs & fans I have represented. It’s been an incredible journey. Finally thank you to my wife Cally, my Dad, Mum and Sister for being so supportive through everything. You’ve helped a young boy live out his dreams. Thank you all for everything.

Didn't work out for us but he was clearly far from shite.

He was utter washed up rubbish when he came here and the fact he chose here showed it was always going to be the case

He used to be a decent player. Was old and past it here. The way you say it makes it sound like it’s his fault. You’re boring the way you talk about players.

Old? He’s just turned 30. Tim sherwood was a good player once

He was obviously carrying his injury and probably came here as a make or break and I’m sure MR knew that and probably cost us nothing if he didn’t play which he hardly did.
