I always enjoyed:

Derby County - you could sense the tradition and it was a fine football stadium. Great view behind the goals on the lower terrace.

Discuss.

Burnden Park, for no other reason that it was a regular sight when entering or leaving Bolton by train.

Yeah, Victoria Ground for me too.

Worst: The Dell.

I loved the Dell!
The noise when I walked in to Victoria ground when we played them in the FA cup in 87 was the loudest I've heard in a football ground.

Yeah, a lot of people liked the Dell. Everytime I went I was really low down with the pitch at chest height.

I have two strong memories of the Victoria Ground; that FA Cup tie, which like you said was amazing, crowd noise was deafening. And previous to that - 85/86 maybe - we had a Full Members' Cup Tie there and there were literally about 16 of us in the away end. Weird. To top it off on the way back we took the wrong turn onto the motorway and headed North rather than South.

Can anyone name a club where they prefer the new ground over the old one? I genuinely can't think of one.

Can't think of one. I was a big fan of White Hart Lane however but I think the new ground could potentially be better from what I've seen on the TV.

Yeah, I'm a fan from the images I've seen.

Some new grounds I don't mind, but this is pretty much exclusively down to the location. Rotherham is in a great location. The Emirates was built a short distance from Highbury, and even Leicester, despite the ground itself being bland and derivative, is close to where Filbert Street was, so at least this doesn't impact on where you drink before the game and the general matchday experience.

It's the edge of town, middle of nowhere travesties like the Ricoh, Oxford, Colchester and Stoke that I can't stand.

I really liked the old WHL. I remember going there in the early 90s with my dad as he lives in Tottenham. Think I went to 3 or 4 straight away games there.

The annoying thing is there was ample room at the old HR site apart from the ground itself the club owned all the land where the Mercer’s was, now full of houses, but that’s another story.

May I put in a vote for the old Wembley Stadium? The walk up Wembley Way to see those iconic two towers looming. Quite an experience and particularly on Cup Final day it made it special

Now although obviously in the same location the towers have been replaced by an arch and even Wembley Way has been renamed something non sensical.

Worst though, is that now when teams play at Wembley, a degree of magic has been lost as it’s no longer the location for just the showpiece...having semi finals played there is a joke and all so they can try to recoup the money of the build. Completely lost it’s magic now; it would be like using Concorde to fly party goers to Ibiza

the Baseball ground is the only ground where I've stopped celebrating a goal because I genuinely thought the stand was going to collapse.

Ha! Another advantage of being on the lower terrace behind the goal at the old Derby ground.
Switching codes - the last time Cov Rugby played a competitive game at Moseley one of our fans actually fell through the flooring in the stand - Cov fans must be cursed.

Not my favourite area of London in any way - but remember finding a nice boozer ahead of the relegation escape game. Then true to form running very hard out of Tottenham as it all kicked off afterwards.

Age does me no favours for this topic. I think I’ve only seen us play at 3: Upton Park, White Hart Lane and Ninian Park. As nice as WHL was I think favourite is Upton Park. More of a better, hostile atmosphere.

Morris Engines ground (just a field really) in Courthouse Green.
Watched a couple of Evening Telegraph cup finals there with my late father.
It's now a housing estate.

Walsall!
My old man took me to their old ground to watch Pompey. There was a river of piss meandering down the terrace from the back of the toilets and there was a sheer drop at the back of where we were stood. There’s character and then there’s character.
We also had to watch a young(ish) mick Quinn wheezing his way round the pitch. I think he scored. David Kelly was playing for Walsall.

I concur with thoughts about Man City, Stoke, Derby, West Ham, Leicester, Rotherham and soon to be Everton.

But I will give a shout out for Kirby Corner home of Coventry Sporting. A place I used to go when very young when Coventry were away. Transistor radio pressed to my ear of course.

I thought Saint Mary's was actually ok location wise, pubs nearby and walkable from the city centre. That said, never went to the Dell to compare.

Kirby Corner was quaint. Faintly remember watching Cov Sporting v CCFC Reserves there with my dad in late 70's/early 80s.

I went to the Spurs v Newcastle game at the weekend. Very impressive building which feels like a 5* hotel. There is no edge to the place which I think is going to affect the atmosphere there long term. I don't think it will be long before the die hard Spurs fans are mourning the loss of the old White Hart Lane. Atmosphere was crap on Sunday, even before they went a goal down.

All of them! I'm a 'traditionalist' (this excludes dunking/burning witches, slavery and morris dancing) I especially miss the ones I never got to.
When I found out a few seasons back that Shrewsbury Town were moving to a new ground the following season, I got myself along to Gay Meadow for a fixture that Involved Boston Utd.
Imagine my surprise when In the Boston starting line up were two ex City strikers.
