O'Boyle is a moron.

Rumour, allegedly has it he is/was in line for Duggins post when he moved on
Then it was again rumoured he was considering standing for Cunningham's seat when he stood down
So do not expect any radical thinking from Mr O'Boyle for a while

Agree with your second point about the use of my pic funds and the need to speculate to accumulate.
With regards to the earmarking you mentioned from a while ago who oversaw this? Separately why can't they earmark land for their cities primary sporting asset?

The development proposal had space for numerous office buildings (17 I think), residential apartments and at least one hotel, but did have two originally. It has since changed because they've not managed to get many of the offices built. The government quango ended up next to the Butts instead and the RICS people pulled out. So far the one building has been for the council, who sold their current offices to the uni to build it and try and kickstart the development. The western side has now largely been taken over by a bus interchange rather than the offices originally proposed.

It's being done by Friargate LLP, of which the council is part. Studies for years have shown that Coventry has a poor offering of office space and hotel rooms, especially centrally. But it's also siad the same about retail and entertainment/dining. A large part of that is Birmingham takes a lot of this and Wolverhampton suffers in a similar way.

There isn't anything preventing them earmarking land for the football club (it's what they did with Ricoh as part of the wider development) and it does now seem that it's an owner thing than club thing - they just have absolutely no trust in SISU or anyone involved with them and I'm not sure they think any stadium development would be for the best interests of CCFC. It wouldn't be CCFC's stadium - it would be SISU's. You assume the club would get all the matchday revenues but nothing is certain with them.

The other big issue is that the previous development largely got through due to the larger redevelopment aimed at regeneration while this would be solely for a football stadium. As well as the usual transport links and desire for public transport from central planning policy the land itself needs to be suitable for a top end playing surface, so anywhere with even a potential flood risk etc wouldn't be suitable.

As I said above, it's been shown in studies that Coventry has a poor entertainment offering compared to cities of a similar size, but when an arts venue in the centre etc is suggested it gets rejected because things like Warwick Arts Centre exist and all the offering in Birmingham. It's a vicious circle. We don't have a great offering so people go to Birmingham but when it's suggested we build our own the reports say the demand isn't there so they have to reject it as not viable. So everyone keeps on going to Birmingham and our offering continues to be weak.

That's incredible.
If they put me in charge of neurology at Walsgrave I wouldn't be as out of my depth as that roaster.

Is that trying to be ironic?

I worry who they are going to get to replace Robinson.

They all seem to be complete right wing muppets.

Now is the time if you are part of Coventry Labour and want change: to make your voice heard.

No it won’t not if momentum have anything to do with it

I've always been a fan of Dave Nellist.

I don't necessarily agree with everything he says but he seems to be more Labour then most of the clowns who say they are representing the party in Coventry.

I don't give any credit to the councillors, they get pushed around by the officers who make the decisions and let the councillors take the credit / flack for them.

Good guy Dave know him well, he’s the type who imo would be ideal spearheading our ground issue, would be like a dog with a bone if he got his teeth into it.

So Birmingham is more attractive than Coventry. I sense a plot..............

No, he was the only one who voted against. Here is a quote from him:

"Today behind closed doors with the people of Coventry not even knowing the details of how much or details of what’s going to whom a decision has been taken to steal the arena that was built by the people of Coventry’s money. It is a disgrace. "

Would you all not prefer to be at the Ricoh if sisu owned 50% or what not rather than owning a new ground?

No way, I’d rather we had our own stadium. We’re a far bigger club than the London franchise and have far greater future earning potential should we get back into the PL one day.

We should have absolutely nothing to do with ten after how they’ve treated our club.

Surrounding area ease of access train and bus routes, half the cost a load of people share there pitch with another club or a rugby club and with the right money and investment the pitches can be as good as they get with only 1 team playing, now I ask you why not would it be a good idea?
I'd counter with the train service is a fucking joke, it's not actually that easy to get to, Wasps are losing a lot of money, why would we want half of a failing business, it's too big for us, no guarantees on the pitch with all the concerts, monster trucks and concerts. Plus fuck the council. If another stadium of our own was a viable option then I'd choose that every time. Don't think it ever will be though.

Dave Nellist is a nut.

Labour aren’t the SWP, and never have been.

That said his wife is a fantastic NUT rep.

I’m not sure that mentioning the train is a great argument. Bus routes depend on location, half the cost but half the income despite being potentially the cause of more than half (stadium naming rights). Quality of pitch if shared not demonstrated by past experience.(How many is a load who share by the way - 50, 20, 10?).
Think I’ll stick with our own stadium as my preference.

Anyone from this forum or anywhere else for that matter could stand as an independent with the single issue of finding us a site in Coventry for a stadium. Very clear single objective. If a site was identified, finding the money to build it would be very much easier; and it would be much harder for CCC to block the development without losing some popular support. One issue candidates have a history of doing well in the short term. They seldom win consecutive elections, but they seldom need to, as once they've highlighted the issue, their supporters can keep making a noise about it until it is acted on.

Not only that it's right my the mw so there's that, I just don't think a new stadium would be worth it on cost alone agree with the fuck the council bit though.

I had to sit by him in an open uni exam last year. He's one of them annoying types he needs to take food

Motorway connection is the only thing that it has nailed. Not that much use to a home fan.

If we manage to get to Wembley or promotion this season I hope that the club tell all the council officials to do one when they want tickets and any celebrations in town avoids the council house and council

Can't stop them going to Wembley, so just let them pay for the tickets like the rest of us.

Good idea avoiding the council house.

No in fact the opposite would be more effective. Have thousands of city fans descending on the council offices to remind them we are the city’s greatest sporting asset that they should be supporting - and then an hours worth of renditions of a certain none too complimentary song about the council, SISU & wasps. Oh and as a bonus as it’s at the council offices then you might even get the trust to turn up to do some hand shakes with their pal George.
