Meeting on Thursday night 7pm at the Nelson club in Warwick. Rose and McFadzean from the first team and John Williams as the ex player.
£10 to join for the season and worth a tenner of anyone’s money just for the ex players managers and the insight into what goes on/went on during their time at the club.

Thought McFadzean would have been a very confident character judging by his demeanour on the pitch but he was very quite and seemed a bit nervous.
John Williams and Chris Marsh were good value though!
Bobby Gould at the next meeting too.

McFadzean is a Sheffield Utd fan, said that one of the main reasons he came was Robins and knew that they were looking likely hat it was going to be Birmingham and not the Ricoh. Said that St Andrews “feels like home” and atmosphere is generally good. Was surprised that Allen chose to come here as Championship clubs were after him.
Interestingly, Rose said that he had everything agreed last October and it wasn’t actually him that scouts were watching it was a team mate of his but he was playing well and got noticed but was always his aim to play in England.
Was asked if the playoffs was the aim and would that be a successful season and he said no the top 2 is the aim from the off.:emoji_ok_hand:
John Williams fell out with Phil Neal and went on loan etc and then Big Ron took over and offered him a new deal as a squad player but he turned it down. He said that is the biggest mistake he made in football.

Interesting that McFadzean came just because we were at St Andrews and not the Ricoh.

Did he say who it was that the scouts were watching? I wonder if it was Shankland?

No he didn’t say that, he said at the time he knew it was more than likely we would be at St Andrews but would prefer the Ricoh.

Ah ok, apologies :) Misread it I think!

I actually think that's the first apology/admission of a mistake that I've ever read on this forum by anyone. Good stuff. Minor differences of opinion usually end with threats of serious violence or even worse degrading of birds of prey. This could be a whole new era!

I'd still shag the owl.

Another good night tonight. Godden and Dabo from the club and Peter Bodak and Gary Thompson from the past.
Interestingly Portsmouth had 4 bids for Godden and he heard of the Cov interest during the first game of the season when he was told by Barry Fry during the game. The deal as we know was then concluded/agreed on the Monday.

Godden and Dabo both said no 'bad apples' in the dressing room (weren't specifically asked that question) and high team spirit, Godden said he had a lot of superstitious habits pre-,match, mainly around routine (meals from Thursday onwards / route to ground) Dabo's toughest opponent Amin Younes, when he played against Ajax. Won 2-1, but he he tore him a hole !
Great night again - special thanks to Juggy, Paul and other 'helpers' who ensure everyone has a good experience.

Yep-more new faces aswell last night and again politics left at the door-something another organisation may we’ll want to take on board.
No good closing the gate though once the horse has bolted......

I think they've got it right with how they do things. Support is the main aim so it's all accentuating the positive, like it a lot
We went last night for the first time and really enjoyed. I thought Dabo & Godden came across really well, and class of Shipley to not only turn up on his birthday but still be there until the end I thought really showed what he is about.
The one thing that did concern me a tad last night, for the future of the football club more than anything, was the age range of those attending. Obviously great to see so many lifelong supporters there, and there were a few young kids who you'd hope will continue to back the club in the future, but I was one of very few between the age of say 16-35. It might just be people had other plans last night, but it would be good to a) learn we have some younger adult fans in Warwick/Leamington still and b) to see others come along. Like I said, I signed up last night so it's not like I am some long-term member myself, but I would encourage more to come along.

I believe that it is going to be very difficult to attract young supporters while we are in Brum.
Just looking at my lad and his mates as an example, there's a little group of them who went to the Ricoh together, occasionally a mate of one of the group would tag along because he had nothing better to do. He then might start going regularly though not always but the group grew.

Now hardly any of them go to SA, the 'straggler' will always have someone to knock about with in Cov on a Saturday afternoon so they're never going to go to the match like they used to.
Appreciate there's more to it than that but it's just an example of what I've seen in my own circle of City supporters.

I wouldn’t read too much into the age thing. I think the idea of supporters clubs is an older generation thing.

With social media, it’s a lot easier to interact with other fans from the comfort of your own home rather than on a set night

Can’t believe how well Thompson looks. Doesn’t look a day over 40-must look after himself well.

Same age as me, and made me laugh last night, as an old acquaintance who I hadn't seen for years was taken aback by my age ('you don't look that old' says he, until he then saw Garry Thompson, I told him that he must be a similar age to me and he quickly reappraised his earlier assessment of me!!

Last night Garry Thompson joked that he knew his career was over when he went to Walsall (can't see that on his list of clubs? unless he mixed it up with Watford??) A bit strange.

Edit (and apologies) - it must have been Bodak joking, as he ended up there towards the end!

It was Bodak and he only said it to wind Marshy up as they're big pals. I need to park in the Kop car park tomorrow H as I have to meet someone after the game, so just to warn you well be later leaving after the traffic has died down. Will pick you up approx. 12.40 @ Baxi.

Bodak’s the name scorings the game. The words of which he once self promoted himself along with his gold ring with number 7 on it. He certainly didn’t lack self belief but never quite lived up to his own hype.
They used to send Ron Wylie over to sit in the disabled section in front of the skyblue stand. From there he would bellow instructions at him and keep him pinned to the touch line to stop him drifting inside.

That’s a fair assessment with who was there last night-but when we travel away on the coach there is a more balanced age range-probably more younger than older to be fair, although that can bring its own problems as we have heard over the last few meetings.
Fair play though to Juggy and Paul, run a tight ship and don’t have any shenanigans.

GDPR mate - now there'll be hundreds of SBT members outside Baxi trying to 'out' me ! (P.S. Thanks for the lift!)

Glad everyone had a good night. Attending the Bedworth and Nuneaton branch of supporters club meeting on 3/10.
They have Walsh and O’Hare attending, hoping for a good night.
Good to see supporters groups active and players taking time to interact with fans.
Wheres it being held?
