Gives us option to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 attacking with a CAM just like we would do if we had Bright at the club. Really exciting signing, will complement Godden quite well i feel. Attack of Godden, Callum, Jobello, Hiwula/Kastaneer with Allen/Kelly in midfield is going to be some watch this season. Very much looking forward to watching this team.

Because there are different roles midfielders play?! By your logic, Makalele could play left wing? (my references need updating!). When you play a 433 you need the middle 3 to be industrious. Who knows, he might be... but a “CAM” just didn’t seem the highest priority.

Anyway, Robins knows more than me. PUSB!

Who's to say he isn't industrious. Ronaldo is industrious.

I reckon he'll cover for Jobello if he's out at the weekend
Charlie Wakefield won't be ready to start and he still has a bit to prove
There aren't many other options for wide men as things stand
Wakefield will probably get a chance in Checkatrade games

You’re just copying what Panda said

Er the story was first shown by a journalist from Scunthorpe that said us and one other league 1 club were trying to sign him?

Well rated by my Villa supporting mate, reckons had Villa stayed in the championship he would have been knocking on the first team door but they have now signed a few so called (his words) prem quality players pushing him down the pecking order.
Wonder if he’ll come straight in.

Exciting singing!

Sounds like he could easily fit into the midfield three, as part of the three, so no need to adapt to incorporate a 10 role.

As others have said, after reading the article I wouldn’t be surprised if he started in place of Jobello (if injured) on Saturday. If not I think MR will reward the team and keep it the same, so he’ll be on the bench, unless Westbrooke/Shipley are tired. Longer term I imagine he’ll replace Westbrooke.

At least that’s the creative midfielder hole filled! We really are not far off a complete squad. Bar RB this week, there’s no obvious gaps. Although I’d like another winger unless MR believes one of the youngsters is up to it, which would be my preference.

hopefully jobello is fit and we can play this guy in midfield

looks like he tries hard to in the tackle at least bit like luke thomas

allen i think is training again but sat prob come to soon

RB only issue at mo. my rivalry with jordan clarke could be reignited but id be happy if he returns and give him benefit of doubt. i just hated him as a CB and he suffered from the DKE thing of fans over estimating his talent because hes small and tries hard, dont remember him being any good going forwards really but could be solid rb back up for dabo i guess. for 1 game though i wouldnt mind a CB playing there and hope we have enough to score past gills

that's the impression I get from Villa fans at work which begs the question why didn't they loan him to a Championship club?

There are still weaknesses in the squad, if Kelly gets injured for example but we're probably getting as good as we can within budget.

Only just saw this and very excited by it. I’ve followed Callum’s career over recent years and the lad is class. Had hoped this might happen as Villa’s promotion and recent spending has made it harder for the younger players. He was outstanding at Carlisle last season, - Man of the Match on several occasions. Let’s hope he can carry it on here.

That's why I think we bought in Pask as he can cover 3 positions. Now he is injured we are hopelessly short in two of those areas.
Ideally we would get another loan in, even short term but I've a feeling that's the recruitment done now.

In the last couple of weeks we've had the away draw at Bolton as the worse performance in the clubs history, Liam Kelly compared to Pirlo and Brandon Mason compared to Patrice Evra.

It's anything goes at the minute.
That Bolton result still hurts!
At least when we lost to Sutton we were beaten by men!
I dont know if that's any worse than failing to beat a kids team, even a kids team with the ref playing for them!

We did beat Bolton. We scored two and had a penalty.

In a reality where L1 refs weren’t useless.

Sounds perfect. Carlisle fans said he was Championship standard last year.

Seems to be able to play either AM in the three in the middle or the Jobello/Hiwula role if needed.

Excited for Saturday. Gutted I can’t watch the game

(Oh and: Captain America: Winter Solider > Bucky > Bucky O’Hare > Callum O’Hare)
I called it right then, my working out was spot on lol
