If Jobello isn’t fit I could see Baka being included as a wide man in the front 3. Only other option would be to revert to 4-4-2 with either Westbrooke, Shipley or both playing wide.

Unsure what he’ll do at right back.

Going to be interesting test for our squad two players suspended Jobello looked to be hobbling at the end of yesterday’s match, plus a strong performance from McCallum team selection will be interesting

McCallum maybe to play right back hoping Jobello is fit being as Kastanner is suspended keeping the system failing that we could revert to 2 up front or use Wakefield or Bapaga

Genuinely think we will get a few more city fans up there this weekend, even if just 4/500 or so.

City win 2-0

3-1 Victory, Westbrooke 25 yard screamer, Godden overheadkick, Hiwula 20 yard curler from edge of the box and Macfadzean slides the ball into his own net.

Keeper looked suspect for their 1st & 2nd goal last night sloppy goals Jobello not tracking his man he needs to be told to help Dabo & fast last season Luke Thomas done it week in week out it’s not good enough that needs sorting.McFadz & Rose did look worrying under pressure McFadz more so.

Depends on the state of the players really. Assuming no new injuries McCallum in for Dabo and Bapaga in for Kastaneer on the bench. If Allen is fit or a loanee signed then them instead.

Worried this is going to be a case of after the Lord Mayors show and we’ll be dead on our feet. Godden at least will probably need to come off after 60 mins.

Bapaga was already on the bench last night.

I’d imagine Biamou will come in on the bench and a defender from the U23’s. Maybe also Ngandu and/or Burroughs, depending how many places to fill

Fair point. Biamou then. Though I do suspect we’ll have a loan in.

Be surprised if Hyam doesn’t come in perhaps Rose moving across to fullback apparently he can play there. Also can’t see MR re-gigging the formation so could Baka play out wide ? No news on Wakefield being fit don’t think he’s played an U/23 game yet so doubt it. Just hoping rest of yesterdays squad are fit and okay.

agree with many of the possible solutions put forward

a left field(literally) one would be to play hiwulla on right and play junior brown as a left winger

but no i expect baka or godden to play out wide for one game. hopefully jobello is fit

mcallum or hyam at right back i guess

gillingham got a good point yesterday vs blackpool but we really need to take all 3 if we are serious about automatic promotion

p.s isnt dexter walters a winger? allasani? we need to get rid if dont think they can make step up. perfect time to throw one of them in on wing if they can play that position

Good points. Allasani is about 5-6 years older than Bapaga isn’t he? Seems Bapaga and Ngandu have leaped above him in the pecking order. Same goes for Walters and Wakefield.

Logically Rose will play right back and hyam central defence

The midfield is far too light on players - we aren’t going to get through a season with Westbrook, Shipley, Kelley and Allen

If Jobelo is out he’s got no real choice but to play Bakayoko

Interesting to see with so many out of Biamou figures on the bench - if not he’s clearly been sent to the same special place Brown has

Let’s assume the worst and that Jobello is also out, along with Dabo and Kasteneer, and we haven’t bought anyone in by Saturday.

I’d keep the formation the same as it’s obviously the preferred option this season and the players appear to be increasingly comfortable with it. I’d also implement minimal personnel or positional changes, so I’d go:

Marosi
McCallum McFadzean Rose Mason
Westbrooke Kelly Shipley
Bapaga Godden Hiwula

I really don’t want to see Godden shifted to the wing as he’s looked a real threat as the main striker, and I definitely don’t want to see Biamou or Bakayoko on the wing. Therefore it has to be as like for like as we can be, hence Bapaga (or another youth winger such as Burroughs or Walters) in place of Jobello.

I’m also not convinced Rose can play RB, while McCallum is young and inexperienced, his is a natural full back so positional play and awareness should get him through.

My worry with the above is the right side is very very young and inexperienced, so I’d potentially switch Hiwula and Bapaga.

Alternatively (and it goes against minimal changes), I’d play Westbrooke RB and bring Eccles into the middle. Moving from CM to RB isn’t a difficult transition and Westbrooke is a ball player so would suit our passing from the back tactic.

Either way, the team should be on an absolute high and I predict a 2-0 victory.

NB. If you want to be anal about it, switch the word ‘winger’ to ‘inside forward’ - my points remain the same either way.

I think in our current system our only real option is to play McCallum at right back. It falls a little flat if you play a CB like Rose there and we assume he doesn't offer much on the overlap. I just hope McCallum can use his right foot a little.

Why is our best 1586 if we’re on 1679 already?

Still provisional mode. It's what the P stands for in the brackets. Need a number of games behind us before the rating starts to become a more accurate reflection of City's actual rating.

Last season it was game 12 where they came out of provisional mode. It's why game 12 is marked for on the chart.

It is going to be very warm on Saturday if the forecast is to be believed. I always worry when teams try to press us high as we witnessed last night, but I can't see that happening Saturday in those temperatures. I can see us having a lot of the ball. It should suit us, just hope we're not too fatigued.

With the games in quick succession and the extra work needed with 9 men we could tire in this game.

Biggest question is what to do with RB with Dabo suspended and Pask injured. I see McCallum being touted but I think being young and inexperienced I'm loath to playing on his unnatural side. I'd possibly swap Mason over to RB for McCallum to be brought in on the left. Even though I don't particularly want to move him either given how well he's started I think I'd prefer to have two smaller weak spots than one big one.

Wakefield is the other option, as he has been in the U23 but I don't know how well he's recovered from his injury, so I think a place on the bench for him. Or a loan which we've been rumoured to be looking at anyway so the suspension may just see that happen. I bet Hickman is absolutely kicking himself.

I can't see us changing formation to a back three, even though we've got three decent centre backs.

Midfield, especially Shipley given the way he plays, will start to tire in this game so need cover on the bench. If Allen is fit that'd be fantastic but I'm not expecting it so I wouldn't be surprised to see Eccles get a few more minutes than he has done previously.

Hopefully Jobello will be fit but if not I'm not sure what I'd do with that. Don't want to move Godden out wide but he'd be a better fit there than either Max or Baka. Again Wakefield could come into the thinking as he's a natural right sided player and also has experience at full back so could hopefully be relied upon to protect the part-time RB. As I said above can't see a change in formation to two up top either.

Will be interesting to see how we deal with those things.
