Another idiot that can’t figure out when the guy is a drain on the club , he won’t even play for Cov and he is nearly 30

Two different camps on this one:

Grendel/BackRoomRummermill throwing keyboard insults both at a player who was key to our success in the final third of our promotion season and anyone else who dares to defend Max.

In the other camp, Mark Robins ex Manchester United forward who as I understand it is probably better placed to judge Max's value. And the rest of us who are keen to see how Max will step up into a 4-3-3 and at a higher level.

I'm happy to be in the second camp and refuse to write off one of our players who is coming back from a bad injury. Some disgraceful comments on here from some of the usual suspects.

Or the third camp where we had to buy cheap took a chance for L2 , we will see how much Robins rates him if he plays or loans him out

Unproven player in L1 , like I say let him show you all how good he is and if he is a overhead .

Some people were stupidly unkind calling McNulty mc wanky etc . I have said from day one he is shite but never been that unkind .

Haha

'I've insulted him in many different ways but at least I haven't made a nickname for him'

Yes I realise I did so for one certain former player

You keep saying 'let's see what he can do', but started all this by calling him a leech who should be offloaded. Which is it?

Personally I rate him. It took him a while to adjust. He grew into that season and scored some very important goals for us. I remember that game away at Newport. We'd were doing nothing, looked for all the world like we'd come away with nothing. He came on a changed the game, scored a very tidy goal. That point was vital.

I think he can be a useful player at this level. He won't start, but will be useful to have on the bench, especially when we're chasing the game late on. Gives us a different option.

Let's give him a chance.

When all is said and done, we wouldn't have got promoted back to league 1 without his 7 or so goals in the last 10 games

The counter argument of course is if we’d had a decent striker who’d shock horror scored some goals in the first 30 games we’d not have been in the play offs

It’s a fine argument if you’ll also say that the hugely experienced Tong Mowbray knows a lot more about bearded centre halves than we all do

I totally agree hence in at least 3 posts I have said let’s see how it goes now if you read back you would have seen what I said , he deserves a chance to prove himself

I hope all those who have decided that he is the next messiah do not berate like Burge , like McNulty et al , When he is shown to be a dead weight , I will happily bring this thread back up

As you say BackRoom - let's agree to give Max a chance and see what happens.
But I do admire the irony of your comment above: 'I have said from day one he is shite but never been that unkind.' Slating a player making a big step up from Day 1 and calling him 'shite' doesn't really give you bragging rights on the humanitarian front - Mother Theresa is safe for now.
Anyway as true CCFC fans let's unite - I'm sure that everyone wants Max to be a success (apart from Grendel obviously).

But as has already been pointed out, it isn’t so much the opinion — rather the way it was expressed. So bringing the thread back up won’t change that, even if he’s the worst player in England.

I saw max, he's living in a one man tent under the ring road near the swanswell . I said max I'll buy you a tea and a sausage roll from Gregg's but I can't give any money, he said par ! English pig.

Now I remember why I stopped looking at this forum........

Moan, whinge, troll, slag-off, whinge, moan, troll, whinge, slag-off multiply by 5 pages. Just takes one person to lite the sky blue touchpaper.

However, everyone is entitled to their opinion however wrong they might be.

Get an injury at work doing your job
What would you think of people complaining that you were still being paid while you recovered?
Can only grimace at some of the comments about Max, a good lad who wants to be here and does his best
In contrast people were clamouring to get a player back who was plainly using our club as leverage to get a lucrative new deal from Wolves and a loan to a Championship club
The players realised some time ago that Bright wasn't coming here despite his online kidding

To be fair, 1 person slagged off one of our players. Every other comment has been defending him. Not sure that's a bad thing.

While 'McWankty' is embarrassingly bad, it's far less insulting that being called a leech draining the club.

600 quid a week he was on in L2. He'll still be on less than £1k

Really?! That does surprise me. Ive had mates play for Bognor Regis and Chichester before on £400 a game.

Genuinely dont think a pro footballer at Cov would be on £600 a week. Not saying he was on £2k but £600 seems ridiculously low.

His first year without bonuses would have been sub £1,000 for sure

Not saying I dont believe you but do we have proof? Genuinely staggered by that if true. I wasnt expecting him or others to be on 'lots' but I would've thought all of the first team would've been on at least £1k a week...maybe except the youngsters who've come through the academy.

Especially as Hickman was on BAGS!

It was his first contract after coming from non-league
It's very possible he was on a relatively modest basic with fairly generous appearance payments plus win bonuses etc.
When players are injured they only get their basic wage

Isn’t average wage in this division about £52k/year? So some will be over and some under. I doubt it’s a minimum.
