We should tell them to piss off and offer half of that value take it or leave it - there are so many better players about anyhow
seen him a few times and in my opinion he really is league 2 at best.

Awkward.

He scored 14 goals last season, more than any of our lot.

Probably the two strikers they brought on helped
It was just a question, one which many of us have asked numerous times. We too have a subs bench.
Very happy with what I saw yesterday, but worried how we always tire and seem to be hanging on at the end of games.

People seem to be forgetting he played with another striker up front who scored 16 goals next to him. Therefore I think if he was the lone striker last season he'd have bagged around 22 goals in the league. can see him scoring 18/20 in the league easily if he plays as a lone striker for us. worth every penny imo. get him for 650k.

Not sure about Godden myself, and wouldn't want us to risk too high a fee on him. However, if Robins thinks he's the answer then fair enough, I'm happy to trust his judgement.

Maybe his game is suited to playing 2 up front. I don't buy that being on your own up front automatically then leads to a higher scoring return. It means he would be expected to be more involved in build up play, holding the ball up, to bring others into it, coming from deeper positions. It also means defenders are able to double up on him, and requires a different skill set from a forward, that he might not be up to.

In my book he is not that great if he was that great really do not think Peterborough would sell him to us to be frank.
We do need another striker on the books though so if Robins wants him and thinks he is worth the investment then fair enough.

Scored goals last season but if I remember rightly he banged about 11 in the first 2 months then hardly scored again. For me it's a no.

Happy to get him, but Pboro are (and I wish we would do it more, instead of getting stiffed) doing the 'other clubs after him' 'want more money' etc. Walk away and look elsewhere rather than get messed about if they start playing silly buggers. Can't waste money or time.

This appears to be a good signing but I just get the feeling p’boro are going to string this out for as long as possible and yet again we’ll get mugged off

As the messiah, Tim Fisher said 'you can only spend the money once' meaning, you've got a budget, spend it wisely!

I believe he was referring to Mowbrays embarrassing signings at the time.

Bit would be in Peterborough’s interest to have us paying as much as possible and waiting as long as we can

I think Peterborough are just playing hardball as we would.

First bit - yes.
Second bit - ? Where was 'lots of interest in Tom Bayliss', 'won't accept that offer'?' - we never seem to do that. Even if it's bluff, at least publicly try and squeeze it or provoke another bid. All we heard was ' accepted an offer' (below release figure) and he's gone.

How much should we have got for Bayliss then?

Tbh the figure quoted for Bayliss is only an estimate and it's quite possible the real total is more than reported
The clubs Mark Robins is talking to about players read the papers and online news like we all do so they will use any information like that in their negotiations
It's obvious now that the club were negotiating to sell Bayliss for a while
He didn't start in pre-season
And Robins has said in an interview that Zain Westbrook came to him for reassurance about his chances of playing this year
He know that Bayliss was probably going but couldn't tell Westbrook
But he said a new contract was in the offing and that Zain was in his plans

Fair enough betterdays - you usually have your ears close to the ground. I just find it frustrating that we don't use the press to 'overvalue' our players to squeeze as much as possible out of other clubs. The odd '£6m rated Zain Westbrooke' headline here and there by a newspaper, plus a bit of hardball behind the scenes would pay dividends in my opinion. Bristol City have just sold a centre back to Bournemouth for £20m (and most of us on here had never heard of him, and some still won't know his name as I type) That is squeezing out value1

Never mind Matt Godden has now been de-stabilised for the rest of the season so PBoro will end up with an unhappy player! Good tactic by MR! we have had it done to us so many times
