I'm not overly bothered we've missed this particular target, I'm more concerned that we let Chaplin leave without a replacement ? We've done this before, let a player go and then not align a new striker first, when will we ever learn ?

Of the 3 strikers still at the club, 2 have better goal to game ratios than Chaplin, suggesting if we play 1 upfront, hed be third choice anyway and was come the latter parts of the season.. . Not the end of the world

Fair enough ... as we are all entitled to our view, but last year produced too few goals, we are a striker down (that imho would have come good, backed up by the purchase and increase in his value, so others clearly agree) and yet we've done it again, we've not replaced before selling, we never learn, we are short on goals, no doubt in my mind, again just my view, but respect yours too.

Fair play to them. I’d say robins has done the same with our squad too. Especially under the circumstances he finds himself in

Good signing for Lincoln, always liked them, used to be based up Kirton lindsey when I was in the army and spent many many nights out on the piss there in the early 2000s.

It's just fan banter nothing serious

Good luck to them

Sky Blues boss on Tyler Walker's move to Lincoln City

“You just don’t know and there are situations where clubs are more powerful in terms of their ability to spend money than we are at this present time.

“We have to be aware of that and adjust our targets.”

They must have a healthy budget then
This is getting ridiculous now, sounds like it was all a bit of a ploy to get season ticket sales. Over spend early in the window to try and show ‘we’re going for it’, and then sell our best assets without re-investing to balance the books. It all stinks a bit to me, I guess we’ll have to wait to see what we bring in but it’s not looking good at the minute.

Robins: “You just don’t know and there are situations where clubs are more powerful in terms of their ability to spend money than we are at this present time."

Cowley: “We have to thank Nottingham Forest, who have really worked with us. For them, it is more about Tyler and his development than finances. I think they could have got more money for him through loan fees or a bigger contribution to his wages, but they believes this is going to be the best place for him."

So...who's lying?

It’s hard to disagree with this at the moment. The way Robins’ talking about the upcoming season seems to have completely shifted recently. Some of the quotes from today almost sound like he’s expecting us to struggle.

The only thing he will develop at Lincoln is noise induced hearing loss due to listening to that bloody air raid warning siren

Forest are happy for him to learn the art of Hoofball according to that then.

I think Robins is saying that to try and drive prices down on his other targets. He’s clearly indicating he’s got no funds when that isn’t the case and he’s not the sort to comment on players going to other teams.

I don't think either is lying. Robins, I would guess, didn't have a chance to talk to him so doesn't know Walker's true intention. People have to be careful when hearing or reading 'news conferences' because when you are not present you don't know how the question was worded.
It could be;
Why didn't Walker come here? (open ended question, as opposed to)
Did Walker not come here because of finances? Y/N direct question

Are people really getting worked up over a few standard PR comments? Was there an expectation that Robin's was coming to come out swinging having a go at Forest or that Lincoln were going to say they can't believe he signed for them instead of us and it was a stupid decision?

The whole attitude from Robins seems to have changed though. He’s gone from saying “we’re going for it” to quotes like this:
“Last season’s slogan was rise together and given a fair wind and if we stick together we could have a fair season.” That doesn’t really fill me with confidence, it sounds like he’s already rolling out the excuses in anticipation of a disappointing season.

MR has convinced me we're going to be alright, think he's playing it coy and we will be pretty happy in a week or so.

But that's to be expected as we're at a different point in pre-season. Not sure why its taking people by surprise.
