Constructive opinions on Wether he could possibly be the main man and get the goals this season or not?
I'm thinking in a sense that jobello Allen and kastaneer all look very capable of creating and the wide men putting dangerous balls into the box do we think max could do it or not.

I like max a lot but no. Need a striker. Said it before and il say it again, the top 8 of this division have proven 15+ goal a year strikers. We dont. Thats the difference between play off push and mediocrity as it stands. Id even go as far as saying a striker is way more of a priority than Bright

He’s not a top scoring striker, sure he’ll hold up play and get the odd assist and key pass, but can’t see him getting more than about 10 or so this season. Most will be blinders though! Max can do a job but not our No 1striker for me

His recovery has been excellent. His attitude is excellent. Studying so he has a life after football at the expense of playing professional football has held him back but shows excellent balance and thoughtfulness. His improvement over the league 2 season was good and I think would have continued last year but for the injury.

He gets frustrated and I think he has a 22-23 year old in a 28 year old body. He won’t ever score 15-20 but 10-15 off the bench with the odd starting berth would aid the team enormously.

I am biased towards him as much as Grendel is against though of course.

We definitely need a nippy striker and a finisher to compete at the top of the table but max won’t ever let the team or club down

We can't risk playing Max from the start in games that come thick and fast at the beginning of the season
He'll need to be managed carefully to avoid any chance of a recurrence of his injury
I suspect he'll be on the bench for a while yet to be sent on when opposition defenders are tiring

So basically, he's a good option off the bench.. I think I'd agree with that. Would be fantastic to chip in with 10 plus goals off the bench.

Really like the lad would love him to prove us all wrong

I like Max thought after a slow start he developed into a good player, but that was division four and he’s had this acl injury not sure if we can wait and see with him, need a striker and treat Max as a hopeful bonus.

Constructive

It’s obviously in character but the fact we are even thinking of relying on a guy heading to 30 whose scored in 4 league games of professional football in his whole career to fire us to promotion is pretty odd isn’t it?

In our current strikers I see max at around 10 for a season, Baka around the same and hiwula maybe 15

Sneaking suspicion / hope that Baka or hiwula are both capable of going on a run and hitting 20 though ;)

Oh yeah, I agree completely that we shouldn't rely on him (or Baka) as I don't think they'll score enough. Another striker definitely needed.

Hiwula for me. Max will be useful off the bench for plan B.

Think Max improved in almost every game before his injury - He has had a full Pre-season and after showing great promise in league 2 is now ready for the step-up - he could be a big bonus for us this season - He has a knack of trying pot shots that go in like yesterday

If he comes good, then it's a bonus. We shouldn't (and won't) rely on that though.

He wont start games even if Walker doesn't happen, it's hard to see him playing more than 10 minute cameos off the bench before Christmas, i think 10 goals is as much as we dare hope for from him, unlike Grendel i think we need a player like Max, if he chips in with the odd worldy that'll do me, and no i don't want to bet on it G

I dont see why he wouldn't, hiwula can play as a lone striker, and hes better than Bakayoki.

There is no such thing as a proven 15 goal a year striker.

Let's look at last season. Even the top teams didn't have players with a history at league one level. Collins has played one decent season in league one.
Moore and Woodrow again no proven goal records.
Taylor one season at league 2 above 15 goals. And he's 29 so again no record. Grant had never really scored before last season.
Portsmouth had what you would consider a 20 goal a season striker (pitman) who only got 9 but instead had lots of players around 10.
Sunderland - had Maja who had no proven record. Then signed Grigg who didn't do it?
Doncaster- marquis was probably the only one who had a record and kept to it.

I don't think so, never saw that killer instinct in him but do think he's a decent enough player

Personally think max is under rated he works his socks off decent link up player with the wingers & midfield just needs to become clinical with his chances.

Not the main man but he’s brilliant to have in the squad. opens up so many more tactical possibilities for Robins. Would be a nightmare for tired opposition coming on in last 15 minutes of a game

If i remember correctly, he quite enjoys getting the shit kicked out of him? Was one of my favourites at the back of the 17/18 season. Intelligent bloke too. Glad to have you back Maxi

Don’t go starting on him now as well.

Certainly don't think we'll be risking him early on but easing him back in with sub cameos. I also don't think even when he does come back we'd risk him playing two full games in a week.

He could prove useful in the middle with the wingers either side. I can foresee injuries to one or the other so in which case Hiwula will go wide and Max play central (unless said injuries happen quite early on in which case Baka will come in for a bit while Max continues his rehabilitation)

Max has a good footballing brain and will get more than his fair share. Would not want to be reliant on him and baka if we're serious about the top 2.

What??? Are you just being a prick for the sake of it? If you've nothing constructive to say to me, or about me - please just leave me be.

I write this with a heavy heart , he is not at the standard required , when he misses all those future chances and people slagging him off I will trot out this thread . He has ‘ managed ‘ to earn money dispite the fact he knows nothing on how to play football , also before anyone starts ‘ jumping around ‘ to reply please remember the season we were promoted he was carried and flattered by McNulty . The option here is a bench player well that will suit him and me just fine . He can always cut the oranges at half time .
