Where have I attempted to play it down?

You are very quick to try to shout down people (me in this case) for asking questions & trying to understand what prompts behaviour. That in itself is oppressive & a threat to freedom of speech...something I am surprised you don't recognise. Or are you only in favour of free speech if it fits with your view of how things ought to be?

Trump has just as much right to speak freely as these ladies he berates. If he makes himself look stupid along the way, that is his problem.

If you genuinely think that those challenging Trump’s open racism is more of a threat to freedom of speech than the likes of Trump, then you’re insane.

In a civilised society there are laws against racism and hate speech. What you’re advocating would take society backwards, it’s shocking you’d even try and normalise it.

It seems you’re massively taken in by Trump and majorly miss the wider agenda at play here.

£1 bought you 1.11 euros on 1st Jan and 1.11euros yesterday, having been around 1.14-1.17 in the Spring.

Why do you think that it got weaker after 29 March and after BoJo said he was for no deal? Do you think the Finance World thinks that Brexit is a good idea?

Why is this so hard for people?

There’s are three deals: Mays deal, No deal, and no Brexit.

There is no magical fourth option that makes everyone happy. Some eggs will need to be broken to make a brexit omelette.

Any politician that tells you otherwise is a charlatan

This is why I back a three way AV referendum. We know the options. Let’s finish this. I’d even accept a three way vote in Parliament but doing it as a series of run offs with no winner was just stupid.

You’d accept a 3 way referendum which splits the leave vote in half

How about a four way vote where remaining supporters vote for remain and accept further integration or remain but want no further integration

They are not saying it is good or bad but that it’s uncertain

Given where you live is built around currency devaluation it’s all a bit ironic isn’t it?

Brexit omelette....like it !

Unfortunate shmmeee the extremes aren’t judging.

I heard Grieve earlier and whilst his intentions may be good in trying to stop a No Deal (I think his ultimate aim is still to stop brexit), I personally believe his (and other staunch remainers) interference makes getting an agreement through Parliament less likely, therefore making No Deal more likely.

Not dissimilar to the ERG. By pushing their ideological Brexit could mean a ‘no confidence’ vote, meaning an election and possibly no Brexit at all.

Both the extremes are the problem and the rest of us (reasonable remain and leave) are stuck in the middle

I thought our currency was supposed to be too strong. Whatever. I saved some money because of the Brexit vote in 2016, it looks like should send a few grand over if this continues. Missus wants us to go to Cornwall. Thanks BoJo.

Retaining the status quo is the easiest and safest option. It is not an extreme position.

Which actually in general typifies the German response to its European “allies” - do as you are told or else

Thanks for this post - I will possibly use it in support of an article on the German dominance on Europe in the comments section. I’m particular intrigued by threats made by Helmut Kohl in 1996 which I was not aware of which show an “integrate or be damned” approach to the rest of Europe

So what are the G 10 currencies? Not which are they. Why do you call them the biggest currencies?

Look at your list of what they are and tell me they are the biggest with honesty. You can't if you are being truthful. It is just a grouping.

They’re the most used and traded currencies in the world stage.

Hahaha bullshit.

You ‘seen’ what coming earlier this year?
The fact that at very best you might have an extra 3% or 4% to spend on your summer holiday?

After all, GBP is at the same level vs the EUR and 4 cents off the USD rate it was on 1st Jan.

‘I had the good sense to change a shit load’. Love it, classic David Brent.

Have a great holiday, where are you going?

Well, I’m not €60 better of than I would have been had I waited until next week to change my pounds into euros for no reason. For seeing the shit and turbulence that’s unfolded in British politics this year hardly needed a crystal ball, I’m not claiming to be some sort of genius on this. I brought straight after article 50 was extended and the pound had a bounce.

Thanks, Costa Blanca. Too late for pre season tour unfortunately.

He has the right to speak freely. He (or anyone else) does not have the right to make shit up and claim 'free speech'. If you make claims they should be able to be backed up by evidence (and proper evidence, not "a poll says x% of people think/feel crime is on the rise/Mexicans are rapists").

If you want free speech it has large amounts of responsibility attached. If you're not willing to be that responsible then you're a potential danger.

The £ is the lowest against the € for 6 months. So if bought at the start of the year it was even lower. Just had to look at the post you quoted. No surprise there.
Should have waited until article 50 was extended if you had the choice. That was looking more and more likely as we approached B day and the pound was always going to react positive to that given how badly prepared we are.

Am I?
The other take on that would be that you are a media dream...you respond to what they tell you rather than trying to all perspectives on a situation to form your own viewpoint.

Trump told American citizens to go home, (sub text, you're not white so you don't belong here).
It's a shocking thing for a country's leader to say about some of its citizens and no rational person can dress it up as anything other than disgraceful no matter what the provocation.
Fortunately for trump the world is increasingly full of people like you who try and excuse everything he does from mocking handicapped people to sexual assaults.

I’m not changing subject. How’s the pound been performing vs the Yuan since the threat of a no deal has been further amplified?
Not changing the subject?

You said that I was hiding my head in the sand fir saying that the G10 wasn't the top 10 biggest currencies. Is this correct?

So are the G10 the top 10 biggest currencies?

Will it still be called Mays deal when May isn't PM?

The 'May' deal is what the EU offered. Take it or leave it. It wasn't what May asked for.

This still has a long way to go. I don't think it will be a no deal or anything else presently on the table. We still might not even leave. If we didn't have such a pathetic bunch of useless twats running our country or a pathetic bunch of useless twats in opposition we wouldn't be in this situation.

But nobody in their right mind would want a no deal situation. It has as much chance of being good for us as being catastrophic. Will be somewhere in the middle.

It is easy to see that some people do think that perhaps in the face of no deal, one or both sides may adjust their position somewhat.

But that is what is so divisive. For yrs generally people such as us have merely shrugged their shoulders even when such changes in the value of the pound have been more dramatic. Now some of us make it into something that is likely to have a dramatic impact on us all...just because they think it adds weight to their argument.
Reality, £5-10 on the average family holiday budget for a week on the Costa del Sol or similar

Is that right?

Show me where then.

Negative inpact? So Germany having a negative impact on their currency because they share it with weak countries like Italy is all bad? What is bad is a strong currency or hyper inflation. I have been saying this for the last few years. But it isn't harming us now like it isn't harming Germany. Those who are being harmed are those with weak economies that share a currency with Germany.

Or would you like to put a spin on having our currency devalued isall bad news. Because if Brexit does go tits up it will be the devalued £ that will save us from harm. Then it will go back to where it should be.

This is why a three way vote is needed. The two sides won’t compromise so we need a deadlock breaker.

Remain shouldn't be on a new vote though,It lost 3 years ago.
What cant people understand about that?
Shall we have a re-run of the vote in 1975 when we joined the common market?
FFs just leave and get on with it the world will still turn on 1st November!!

The poorest don’t even go on holiday.

The biggest impact for them will have been the cost of living, such as food prices, which have undeniably increased since the devaluation of the pound.

That’s not even looking at other general goods that the country imports and are going to be impacted.

But 52% v 48% was a majority. And millions of people refuse to accept the result. So what would it be like without a majority decision?

Luckily increased competition has kept food prices down.
