I cant help thinking it's a lack of ambition to stay at Bournmouth, you'd of thought he would want to win things and get a taste of champions league football. Unless all the transfer talk was just bollocks of course.

V rich owners I believe.

Turnover of £134m last year, that's approx 22 (twenty two) times as much as CCFC on similar average gates two leagues below. If that doesn't wake anybody up to the game being utterly broken, I don't know what will. They still made a £10m loss. Even when CCFC were last in the Premier League our turnover was £20m ish at best (that's £32m in today's prices).

Their 'Premier League' income which is TV and prize money was £119m.

You can’t help but wonder what could have been if we’d hung on for another few years in the Prem.

Richardson reckons (in the youtube) the TV deal for 2001/02 was significantly better, that'd have funded the Arena in itself most probably. His stupid fault for not sacking Strachan earlier and dithering over Hartson.

That said, like I've said many times on here previously; I genuinely have no interest in us playing in the Premier League. I'd happily compete in the Championship.

Hmm. Unless we were banking on the Wilson cash, and had borrowed against it.

A mate mentioned this to me a few weeks ago, he though they were banking on the sale of Wilson, so the club released money upfront to ensure we didn't miss out on the main targets.

Yeah appreciate the latter point. But as you say seeing through the original Ricoh deal would’ve made a world of difference even in lower division. Relegation came at precisely the wrong time. Especially with the ITV Digital collapse as well.

So we owe £72m instead of £70m.

I hope/think that the signings are a combination of genuine trust in Robins and a wish to approach this move away differently to the last. It’s congruent with the entire messaging from the club recently.

Also, you can’t be right every time :p

There are different types of debt.

There's the soft debt carried over when they bought us, effectively written off.

There's the initial investment. Little hope of getting it back, so not pushed for... atm. Probably the source of all our issues.

There's the ARVO loan, which means we don't really have Ryton as an asset - it's their's.

There are the short term bridging loans we've had before, which have had relatively high interest rates, and have needed to be paid back.

What other answer is there for a club that has been told it has to be self-sufficient, has had its owners help in its income dropping drastically next year, and its costs potentially increasing also, then for it to borrow money?

What assets does it have to borrow money against, other than a hope of sell-on clauses, and / or a Bayliss sale?

We've done it in the past, ended up in a mess because anticipated deals didn't happen - Jimmy Holmes springs to mind. We've seen it with some of our fans saying Bury got what they deserved, because the fans didn't question where the money came from, and lapped it up when things were going well.

Well, I'm questioning it. If things don't go to plan with anticipated income, can we expect a fire sale come either January or next season? This season is very very dangerous for our future. Robins will be a true hero if he steers us through it.

I appreciate all of that. Will trust your judgement on the finance.

Still can’t help but feel the club has been fucked for a long time so I’m going to enjoy a decent couple of seasons and if we go pop, well at least it’s better than a whimper. I see no route to sustainability for us that doesn’t run through promotion above this league.

I also think this season will be one of our best shots at promotion, which is a gamble, but less of one than a standing start from lower L1 so one I’m willing to take.

Meh, just got to hope he has an absolutely brilliant season then.

Top teams will always pay big for proven goalscorers regardless of age

Coventry are going to have to produce one of their own to be in the money . Could easily happen sooner rather than later .

The consortium were banking on using the Money from Wilsons transfer to pad out the offer to SISU so thats gone south now!

If we went down a couple of years earlier I’m sure we’d have regrouped and if we stayed a couple of years the money would have kicked in. It really was the worst time to go.

We had relegation from the prem, then the itv digital collapse, then the dodgy Ricoh deal, then the hedge fund, then wasps. It’s amazing we’re still here. Each one of those are things that can set a club back for a generation.

The only thing I would say is the way our wage inflation was going, our debt might have gone up exponentially with it!

Not sure how it works if he stays there. Do we get anything for a re-newed contract if he isn't sold?

I suspect he'll be sold eventually. Maybe a case of waiting for Chelsea next year. He still has a year or two left where he can command a big price tag.

Not unless we've got more add-ons in terms of appearances/goals for Bournemouth, but unlikely to be anything like the amounts we could get if he's sold.

Signing another contract doesn't have to see him stay there, it only means that Bournmouth will guarantee themselves a fee if he moves on.
That has to be better for ccfc, rather than see him run his existing contract down and moving for nothing, or being sold on the cheap in January.

Not in this case. We needed a sale ASAP before Wilson inevitably breaks down again.

They wouldn't be that stupid, would they?
Have you seen how much SISU are worth and the amount of assets they have? They can ride out this situation for sure. Also we have sold a few players over the years and definatily not reinvested it all back into the team. Maybe they are letting some of that money flow into the playing squad?
