I will not clap the lad back if he does the whole coming over to the Cov fans at the begining or end of the game routine.
He was someone I respected as a committed loyal player. Had he gone up a league u can see why he would leave. But no, he has cashed in with our biggest rivals in this division very contemptible outcome.

If we offered him 4k a week he must be getting a fair bit more to move up the north

Said it before but I never really rated him. For him to go to a team in our league after being linked with championship clubs all season sums it up. He's served us well without ever really excelling in my opinion, we've moved on. Also the idea that the two culprits from that shocking Gillingham home game howler are back in the same team makes me smile

Has anyone read their fans forum last few pages on “Jordan Willis” thread it’s comical.

“Sky Blue Harry” tried to give them a review on him and got hammered left right & centre.

It’s not so much a takeover as just bringing in more investors. The current duo of Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven have done a remarkable job in turning the club around financially.

They are more than capable of financing a promotion push at this level however it’s doubtful whether they could do the same if we were in the 2nd tier.

Personally I hope both are at the club for years to come.

He was a good servant to the club and it’s always nice to see an academy player have such a positive impact and contribution to the team.

I would prefer him to have stayed, however he's by no means irreplaceable, and I’d argue we’ve replaced him already.

Pace is an asset for any central defender, never mind in L1. However take that away and he becomes a lot less impressive a player; his distribution is poor and he’s more than susceptible to being bullied. MR will definitely know how to exploit his weaknesses when we play them.

I wish he was staying, albeit that’s partly tinged by sentiment, but even so he wouldn’t necessarily be the first CB on the team sheet, and I’m confident McFazdean will suit our style of play. We will lack pace in the CB areas, but our full backs should cover and if the CB’s get their positioning right, it won’t be as necessary anyway.

I'm sure you'll get out of this league sooner or later. Your turnover must mean you have such an advantage with ffp. No other team in the league could have spunked £4m on one player.

It can be a tough slog this league though and I thought your fans were poor at the SoL getting on players backs, the team hadn't lost there all season and were still in the hunt for automatics. After the last 5 years I thought there would be relief at actually wining some games.

If it's the same next season I could see Willis and particularly Burge struggling. They're very much confidence players and getting on at them will have them making errors. Although Burge doesn't need any help in that regard.

I agree with you about the fans getting on the players backs, it’s been an issue for a number of years though so I can’t see it changing any time soon. It’s just something a player is going to have to deal with at Sunderland.

Their kit is horrible. The red looks like pinky orange and there is way too much white on it, all white on the back. Reminds me of that awful kit we had in our most recent relegation season that just didn't look like one of our kits.

He is a player not a fan. Clubs have no loyalty to the vast amount of players. It's a short career. If he has got a better contract good luck to him.

very strange to take a 2 year deal in same div as us when we are told there was championship interest

The whole "he chose Sunderland over the Championship" line seems a bit of Billy if you ask me.

To be honest, it wouldnt surprise me If the championship clubs just didn't want him or wouldn't offer him the money.

We also have to remember he stuck with the club through our most difficult period of our history

He's a good lad, city lad through to the core and I wish him all the best, I really hope we can pip Sunderland next season although a big ask... Oh well we all move on

And 3 seasons later, Fleck is in the Premier League and with 2 promotions under his belt and still only 27, he's at the peak of his earning powers.

All I’m gonna say is this would have been a lot more painful if it was Hyam, Hiwula, Kelly or Bayliss

Agreed.

However, I believe there was interest from Championship teams, but they were probably signing him as a role player as opposed to a starter.

Very good defender, good signing for Sunderland. But, like Hyam (so far) lacks goal scoring from set pieces. Hopefully, McFadzean, Rose and Hyam can get some goals under their belt.

In my opinion mcfadzean is a fantastic replacement and rose as understudy, we probably couldn't really have signed much better and there won't be much if any better centre half 2 than hyam and fadz in league 1.

Hyam reads the ball so well, always cool calm and collective I'm really happy we still have him, he will definitely play at a higher level one day I'm just hoping it's with us

Not much interest to take this deal I feel 2 years ? He wanted to be down south near his Mrs,wonder if he regrets choosing to not sign with us.Robins probably wouldn’t of had him after he shook hands & waked awa I feel we are far stronger at the back this season.

I really wonder how affected he is by his persistent injury and just how much it needs managing on a week by week basis. Perhaps signing a player who hasn't played at that level so isn't guaranteed to make the step up and who can get through games but might not be able to give 100% in every training session just presented too much risk for championship teams on the kind of longer contract Willis would have been looking for. Sunderland however are a big fish in a small pond and know they are getting a very capable player at this level so the risk is much smaller, especially on a 2 year deal.

Did he? Just read it and their were a couple of tongue in cheek fuck offs and an agreement to share his lottery winnings if we both get promoted.

Ah the 2 year deal. Or in other words, thinking they can get promoted this season then bin him off when in the championship because he isn't good enough for them then. Like we did in league 2 with with most our signings

Played 3 of the last 4 seasons in the championship, brilliant on the ball with a strong leader like mentality.

Highly rated by all his previous clubs and their fans.... His pedigree far exceeds Jordans
