It would show him to be a bit of a hypocrite if he ends up at Sunderland. By all means chase the money its a short career but, like Fleck before him, he has made a point of leaving to play at a higher level, however 3 places in the league table isn't that.

Maybe he thinks he has a better chance of reaching that next stage with Snderland? They throw a lot of money around, he'll be on a lot more money, better facilities, or maybe it was paper talk and nobody wanted him from the championship. They play some dreadful football though.

I agree with this. Whilst it really pisses me off he'll be joining a league rival, in reality, if I had to bet on who would be going up first, they are better placed to. So, whilst he won't be playing at a higher level immediately, he has still (in my opinion) increased his likelihood of playing at a higher level in the very near future, and he'll be on more money. I don't like it one bit, and on a personal level hope he has misjudged the situation, but from a logic point of view, I completely understand it.

If he wants more money and they're prepared to give it to him then fair enough but don't play the 'want to play at a higher level' card.

Of course the alternative is its another example of a player being told by his agent he can move up when the reality is there isn't the demand.

Could just be paper talk anyway.

At least we know when we play them next year to put Baka and Biamou up front and punt the ball into the box. Neither Burge or Willis can deal with that.

They will have a good pacey league 1 centre half if he goes there, but IMHO hyam is a better defender, and we've covered his loss really well in mcfadzean

Injury prone, but always gives his all.

By All accounts he's trained with a few championship clubs and ended up back in the same league as us. Good luck to him but Championship clubs clearly didn't think that much of him or they'd have taken him on. Houses are cheaper in Sunderland too.

Let's be honest here, it's a good sign when a promotion rival is signing players that probably wouldn't get into your own starting 11 anymore

No idea. Just think it’s funny that managers think he’s worthy of a contract at a club like Sunderland. And you lot think he’s no better than non league
To be fair Pete, he's been at a few other clubs who've not thought that he's worth signing and then he's ended up at sunderland. Its not like they've pulled out all of the stops to get him. He was supposed to be going to a higher league according to some reports and rumours but it never happened.

You’d think Willis would finally look forward to the chance of playing in front of a half decent keeper after spending the last few years covering the arse of that error prone donkey. I’d be surprised if true but stranger things have happened. He could definitely play comfortably in the Championship.

Do Sunderland have more than 1 manager then? Robins didn't think he was worthy of a contract and ill take that opinion thanks

This is a rumour, right? Why are people getting so worked up about it? Don’t give yourself an aneurysm until it actually happens.

That's not true though is it. Robins has been fairly open in saying that we offered Jordan a deal but his agent made it clear they weren't signing.

Just had a flick onto Sunderlands forum to see what everyone was going on about and wow they really are a fan base who do not realise they aren't as big as they used to be. Reminds me of us a few seasons ago.

He has gone there to keep the bench warm and nothing else.

Would be very surprised if he went there tbh thought he wanted to be closer to his misses down south ? Thought Luton was a done deal...

If he's been around a few championship clubs and not been offered a deal then Sunderland is an obvious choice if he's had to look outside of the champ. Not sure what all the fuss is about, it's not like we haven't got decent replacements. 1 month ago it was good luck to a loyal servant and now the pitch forks are out.
Wonder if those persistent injuries are showing up in medicals/training?
