I rate Shipley on his day, he does turn out the occasional belter of a game. But to say Shipley offers more is like saying Spar offers more than Asda
What do you like so much about Bayliss? What do you feel are his strongest points? His set piece ability, his defensive ability, his assist rate? Just out of interest....

Calm down children.

On their day they are both decent players. But both seem to have more off days than good days. Concentrate on the good days for one player and the off days for the other player and you will get the answer you want. But the truth is that both need to improve.

What I'm trying to show you here is that football isn't as simple as goals and assists. There are a few more components that you need to add to the mix before you get a goal or an assist.
Aesthetics!
I really like Shipley but Bayliss gliding past players is lovely.

For a young lad Bayliss has so far done himself proud, he has played quite a few games now and hopefully he kicks on again this season for us but if he decides the grass is greener elsewhere lets hope he becomes a very good player and earn us some money to buy a new stadium

Let’s be honest, a fair few ‘fans’ have moaned about Bayliss and Chaplin most of the season, yet unsurprisingly, these are the two players that most clubs (at a higher level) have shown an interest in !

Unfortunately some fans haven’t got clue what a good player (or potentially very good player) would be unless/until they read it in the Sunday papers (Maddison, Murphy, Kent to name a few others that took stick but are head and shoulders above us and our level)

I think people moan more because more is expected of them. (Rightly or wrongly).

Like you say, Chaplin is wanted by higher League teams but scored one more and got an assist less than bakayoko who had much less time on the pitch.

He may well come good in a system that suits him which is going to be with a big target man and it would be interesting to see after a full pre season and forming a partnership.

Comparing Bayliss and Shipley is
ridiculous, two totally different types of midfield player.Re. Bayliss last season was his first full season as a first teamer same for Shipley strangely I thought Bayliss started okay then fell away a bit around Xmas time and Shipley did the opposite didn’t start too well but finished the season really well, ideally I’d love them to develop together rarely do you get different two types of midfield player develop together and come into the first team together both a credit to our academy but seems likely Bayliss will move on, could be another midfield starlet nicked by Villa.
