When you think we reportedly paid £600k for Cody McDonald who had come off the back of a similar season in League 2... And that was about 6 years ago, Forest would likely be after something above this I would think. Especially given the way the market has gone.

That's fair enough. Although what we should be paying and what Nottingham would accept could potentially be worlds apart. If Barnsley can cough up a decent amount of up front money for Chaplin such a figure wouldn't be totally out of reach.
Don’t know if this will be relevant but Forest have signed two from Benfica today one a winger/forward.

If there was an opportunity to pursue a permanent deal then I think City should push all out on this, even it means missing out on Bright.

I'd love to see Bright back at City, but I think it's going to be harder to get Bright back at this stage in time.

if were already bidding 600k for bright, use the chaplin money and make a 1 mill bid for Walker, a real prospect

Who could robins have in mind for that number 10 role if we don't get bright? Walker/Mcnunlty are the strikers he will be after

I think the potential with Bright is massive, but he's out of contract at the end of this season and if we can get him back on loan, then get promoted this season it's a player we could easily pick up on a free.

Walker has another two years on his deal with Forest and has been given a chance to impress during pre season.

Little caveat to my previous post, Daryl Murphy is one player who is not fancied by the new manager according to local press in Nottingham.

If this is the case then it could impact our chances of signing Walker.

It's bordering on delusional thinking we're going to spend £1M on a player. Realistically it's loan or nothing unless Forest are willing to agree to an affordable fee.

Well we've bid 600k for bright which is still on the table.... if we sell Chaplin why wouldn't we add another 400k on at least?

Are you saying if the Bright bid fails and Chaplin is sold then we could combine the two bids because I'm not sure that's sound logic. Yes we've put 600K on the table for Bright, but that doesn't mean just because Chaplin is sold we could start slapping down seven figure offers as that's not in line with our policy. I mean we didn't do it when McNulty was sold so why would we start now? Similarly we have no idea what Chaplin is being sold for, nor the structure of Bright's bid. So even if in theory that was possible, I'm unsure whether MR would do it or would be allowed to do it.

MR has publicly stated he actively avoids putting all of his eggs in one basket so why would he do that now by bidding £1M on a striker that hasn't actually had any prior experience or success in League One? Both himself and Badlan have even admitted that it's not their style to slap huge sums on players due to the element of risk that comes with every transfer. Walker is a talent granted, but I find it hard to believe MR is willing to put his neck on the line for him by bidding such a sum.

Arnautovic has left West Ham, possibly meaning that they could be back in for Wilson.

The issue with him is his injury record, which has certainly cost us a few million.

It depends on the outcome of the Maxi Gomez saga. They've recently bid £44M for the Celta Vigo striker but according to reports they're losing the race to sign him to Valencia.

If they lose out on him I think they'll go for Wilson.

If Wilson goes for a big chunk of money, then we should be able to sign Bright and Walker, selling Chaplin if necessary.

Reports have just come out claiming that Bournemouth are set to offer him a five year contract worth £26M. If he signs that there's zero chance he'll leave.

With Arnautovic, Perez and Carroll gone and Hermandez set to leave, West Ham have freed up around 500K per week in wages. Realistically if West Ham knock on the door hard enough they'll probably be able to land him as they'll be able to offer whatever Wilson wants.

It would be a good move for him financially and I'm sure his agent will make Wilson aware of this.

Nottingham Live have reported the move for Tyler could be permanent. My information was that it was a loan so will be interesting to see what happens here.

Personally I would assume it's a loan. It was actually agreed before I hinted about this so that would suggest a loan deal...why wait around with Forest if its permanent? They just wanted to spend some time with him before shipping him out.

The deal changing to permanent could suggest Chaplin leaving maybe? We'll see.

Not debating your intel Panda but you say "it was actually agreed" but surely Lamouchi taking him on pre-season tour proves that it wasn't. Is it a case of, a deal was agreed with O'Neill but now Lamouchi has come in he wants to have a look at him. Realistically if you were a manager you'd want to completely vet your squad before considering sending out anyone on loan or letting go of players on a permanent basis so that makes sense.

As a result, I'm guessing the loan deal is still on the table, it's just a matter of Lamouchi being 100% sure that Walker isn't going to be in his plans next season?
