I assume that if there was a cancellation at this short notice that the bands would need some sort of compensation as well as any security or services that have been booked.

It's easier to slash ticket prices and rely on selling lots of over priced beer.

Well, that was the quietest I have ever known it and the 'car park' was almost empty. Quite eerie until about 9.

I parked opposite the train station. Expected it be busy, but there was hardly a car in there.

I really should put the next bit in the stupid questions thread, because I have just got home and my missus asked, if there weren't many people there why did we stay so long?

Ermmm...... because the bands still played, the funfair rides were still going, the comedians were still telling jokes and the bars and the food outlets were still selling food and drink.

Last year I stood next to Pauline Black near the back on Friday night to watch the stranglers. It was packed out. It's the only Godiva I've been to.
Was tonight crap ?

Unfortunately I know so little about the Levellers and couldn't name a single song.

For some reason I have them in my head as being folk rock. What genre of music would you say they are?

But, yeah,ADM , it was a bit crap. The comedians were great in the Paradise Tent, but because there weren't many people there it spoiled the atmosphere a bit in general.

We left about 9.20, but by them there wqs quite a crowd at the main stage, so it must have picked up, but we walked past all the parked cars on the field and there weren't many at all.

Be interesting to see how busy it is today.

I also have it mind that the Levellers are Irish, but maybe I am confusing them with the Dubliners.

Levellers are from Devon.
Didn't bother going last night, seen them a couple of times and they're not my cup of tea.
Due to the heat had the patio doors open but couldn't hear anything from the park which you can usually, wonder if theyve been told to turn it down?

Yeah, maybe

Walking up to the park I can usually hear the songs quite clearly, but this time I couldn't.

Yeah, I was never a great fan either. I thought they're from Brighton?

Seems there's a bit of a mess with the ticketing. You can use any ticket from any day and it scans as accepted. Also lets you use the same ticket multiple times with no issues.

Don't know what has happened, but all performances in the Rhythm Tent have been suspended.

They are stating safety concerns.

Grand master flash/Sugarhill/Mele mel/Furious five on tomorrow afternoon
around 3ish
More your thing?
Even I had the message in my collection :)

Grandmaster flash isnt with them.
The Pioneer of hip hop playing in the Memorial at 3 on a Sunday afternoon would be a bit surreal.

Lot's of pissed up teenage girls being pissed up teenage girls, overly dramatic and fainting at every opportunity whilst screaming friends gather round and hyperventilate.

Someone has said that loads of people pushed in and there is obviously a capacity. Must have vastly exceeded that.

Don't know, Otis said there was an issue so I looked on covlive and it said it's shut for the evening.
More than likely a H &S issue.
Not sure how hard it can Bbe to control overcrowding in a tent with a capacity of about 3000.

Not sure how they’ve made such a mess of this. By all accounts it’s a smaller crowd than previous years.

From what people are saying on twitter, which of course may be bollocks, it’s pretty basic stuff they’ve got wrong. Is there a different company doing the event management or security this year?

Now they’re charging, even if it is only 2 quid, you know people will be demanding refunds.

It's normally bog standard crowd control on that tent.
One gateway for coming in, one for going out.
Guy with clicker monitors capacity and if that's reached its one in one out.
Like you say, with smaller crowd overall how could they have got it so wrong?

Last night was a smaller attendance, but tonight it was very, very busy.

Really? Dread to see what it was like last night then.

Didn't think there was that many there, comparing it to when beer was allowed in times

Very impressed with feeders set. Knew about 5 or 6 songs. 2 of them really remind me of my late teen years. Good stuff

Furious social media response after Jay1's Godiva set axed

Some people really don't have a clue.

I see someone has suggested that they should have moved Jay 1 to the main stage.

Umm.... and do what exactly with the bands due to perform on the main stage? Cancel them instead? Laughable.

Seems so many people pushed in despite warnings and it was so many it actually broke the barriers at the front of the stage. They obviously couldn't continue.

Someone could have been seriously hurt and it could easily have resulted in multiple deaths. Surely they had to stop and cancel everything didn't they? The council could have been in real hot water if they allowed a vast over capacity and then there was a tragedy and fans were crushed.

Seems entirely the right thing to do to me.

They would get slated either way wouldn't they. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

You allow it, serious repercussions, you don't, you get slated.

A tragedy waiting to happen.
