He’ll do well for them. He’s a decent league 1 keeper. Didn’t deserve the abuse we gave him a lot of the time, good luck to him.

Not putting the ball in the net did cost us quite a lot of points last year. Games we should have won comfortably we didn't due to poor finishing. Luke Thomas alone could have had 20 last season if he was a clinical finisher. 15 if he was half decent.
We didnt lose points thru not scoring, we didnt get as many as we would of liked obviously, but we didnt lose any, whereas......
Check the league table. Look at the goals scored and goals conceded and see which one we're more lacking in compared to the other teams chasing promotion.
Compare that to the games we lost or drew due to Burges errors, playoffs were there, his errors lost us them points and a place in the playoffs.

Who says we didn't lose any points through not scoring? There were games we missed a hatful of chances and didn't win or even lost.

Towards the end of the season Burge's confidence had definitely gone, but it's not like we were a shoe-in and dropped out. It's just as easy to say had the forwards scored those chances earlier in the season we'd have been in a position whereby those errors wouldn't have cost us a play-off place.

As I said before, goals scored was much lower than other play-off teams, goals conceded was roughly the same. We were the joint lowest scorers at home last season in league 1. You can look to blame Burge for all our shortcomings last season but it was only a part of it - there was far more to it than that.

My original point was regards to Burge and his mistakes costing us a playoff spot. Points dropped thru Burges mistakes were the difference between a play off spot or not regardless of what happened elsewhere on the pitch.

Look through Robins’ post-match comments. What does he mention most? Our failure to convert chances is a common, reoccurring theme. That is, without a doubt, the main reason we dropped as many points as we did and not GK errors.

I’m not defending Burge, he’s not our player anymore and I don’t care about him.

If robins criticizes goalkeeping, that’s 1 player he’s calling out. Managers don’t call one player out in post match press conferences very often, especially when everyone can see he made an error. Not a very good comparison.

It is because he called out individual players for missing chances. Most notably, Luke Thomas after the Portsmouth match, where Robins said ‘he should have about 30 goals this season’.

Burge has had some howlers, it was time for him to move on. However, there games where he made mistakes that cost us, were also games we missed several key chances. Quick example, Walsall away in the league, Thomas and JCH had good chances squandered before Burge went on walkies.

The reason Robins targets missed chances because it’s more important than GK’ing mistakes. Burge didn’t cost us playoffs, we scored the around goals less than our immediate competitors!

Some have short memories. Robins often called out Burge for errors
Hence he was not offered a new deal
His middle name is Flappy for a reason

Cant remember ever having a keeper or any keeper for that matter making so many howlers in a season as Burge. You see one or two a season by each keeper but it got to the point where every game if the ball was crossed into the box you were biting your nails expecting him to flap at it or let it through his hands.

For me when we had stockdale you could instantly see the difference in how the defence behaved. They were a lot more confident and they expected the keeper to get the ball if he came out.
With Burge you could see the panic
