Sponsorship Charities (1 Viewer)

So if we manage to gather enough cash to sponsor a player I gather it's going to be a charities name on the player.

Use this thread to nominate charities. Just put the name of the charity and a small blurb about what they do then I'll compile them all together in a poll

I don’t think you’d be allowed to put a charity as a sponsor without their permission

Of course not but I guess the case would be contacting the poll winner and if they refuse going to second place and so on.

I doubt many charities would agree to it and even if they did it would have to go through an approval process at the charity

Also surely you’d need to ensure the money is raised first and those that contribute are the ones who have a vote

I worked for a major charity. So know a little bit about it. Most won't turn down free advertising.
But might need to show that the space was donated to them So it doesn't look like they spent the money.

I’m not being flippant but if it was Hickman sponsored and the incident occurred after the deal would this present them with an issue?

I would say it could do. But as the player isn't a charity ambassador should not massively effect things. Thats why they might want "space provided by' under the logo.

A smaller local charity might not have any issue with it and would be happy for any space.

Charities would recognise it as a gift in kind. If they all reject us we’ll just put it as SBT sponsored player.

Tbh what does the charity get other than their name in programme since the cash goes to the player/club. Its surely about helping one of our academy kids rather than a charity in this case. The only thing we could do is aim for double sponsorship value with half going to a charity which would do them more good.

‘It takes Balls to talk’ is a very good charity that does a lot around male suicide. Weirdly they seem to be involved with nearly every local sports team (including the London wasps) but don’t tend to be at city games flyering or talking to people. Maybe if we asked them to use their logo we could get them involved with the city more.

Also Coventry and Warwickshire Mind would be a good one.

The main benefit to the charity would be exposure. For that reason I think we should limit to local charities.

There are also a number of free gifts that we'd receive, we can either donate these directly to the charity or raffle/auction off with proceeds going to charity. We could maybe even see if the club can chuck in a few extras to help raise money.

Finally (and not really discussed yet) maybe we can make them more broadly our charity to support for the year. Could have a more permanent fundraising page with proceeds going directly to them, and maybe look to do more fundraising stuff for them throughout the year (again, hopefully we can get the club on board in some way).

If the charity is registered on the easyfundraising page we could all easily set up our pc's/smartphones etc to donate to them for most online purchases, I currently do it for Scottish Children's Hospice Association but would happily change it.

You can also nominate a charity for your individual Amazon spending if you go through the Smile portal. Everything about the website is exactly the same after you have entered via the portal, but the charity gets 0.5% of all your transactions donated to them.

Personally I give to the Ronald McDonald House and Manchester Childrens Hospital due to what they did for my son and so many others. The British Legion too. All three of those are very worthy causes. Another that I’d like to throw into the mix is the Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust.

I am happy to put money in for any local charity that are being run well.

If we are trying to decide which one. I would favour the one that uses most of the funds they raise to help volunteers and the front line cause they support, over ones with big administrative support functions.

As an example UNICEF has a program expense ratio of 89 percent means we are a highly efficient charity, as defined by independent monitors, with 2.7 percent of their expenses going to administration and 8 percent to fundraising.

To review our local charities this should show you which will give us most value for our donation Charity Choice Reports

BUMP Is this still happening?

The above would be good.

I would prefer a local charity or as mentioned above Cyrille Regis or Jimmy Hill Legacy if it is still going. I do like the homeless idea also.
