Favourite Album And Why ? (1 Viewer)

Not easy picking one favourite album, but for me it has to be Fire And Water by Free.
I first heard the song as a teenager, Alright Now by the band on the radio, so as we all did back in the 70's I went into town to the record shop and bought the album the song was on. I have only got it now on CD but love it just as much now as back as when it first came out. Plus Alright Now was always being played in the Antelope Club where I used to go, which is now Carey's. Great song by a great band. So what's your favourite album and why?

For a long time it was The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. Trouble is, I overplayed it and don't enjoy it so much now.

Argus by Wishbone Ash is up there too. Some epic tunes on there.

August and Everthing After by The Counting Crows is probably my all time favourite though, tbh. It was a great album in the day, and still stands up now.

Heaven and Hell: Black Sabbath because it still kicks arse and there isn't a bad track on it. I wanted to hate it because it was the first without Ozzy, but it was just brilliant (still is)

I don't think it's possible to narrow down to one album for me
There are bands I really like that I could narrow down to one album what my favourite album of theirs is!

I turn this into the album I have played most in my life and that is Dark side of the moon - just a brilliant piece of music that can transport me at any time

Used to be a member of the Antelope bike club and go down that place on the Butts roundabout - went down there one night and in the slot underneath the bar a guy had his python ( definitely a snake ) laying along there - scared the life out of me !

Every Thursday night was great in there. Really lively place and had some great nights in the Antelope Club.

My friend asked me which album I would play to someone as a first listen to rock music and Heaven & Hell was my choice. He thought I would pick Hysteria as I love Def Leppard but it's not my favourite Def Leppard album, Slang is and that would be my choice.

Will dig fire and water out and put it on my pod for tonight - normally go off to sleep with an album playing - Alarm clocks ⏰ on dark side are a bit of a hazard - Last nights was Moontan - Golden Earring

You won't be disappointed as every track is a winner. Can't get over how short the album is though, but then again some albums are long and boring.

Going back to Fire And Water album. The track Mr. Big for me has the best ever guitar solo featured. Check it out and hear for yourself.

Admittedly I have a very strange taste in music however my favourite album is White ladder by David Gray Brilliant throughout and a fantastic cover of say hello wave goodbye on it

This is a difficult one! Appetite for destruction - GnR, Definitely Maybe is class, Parklife - Blur, Different Class - Pulp. couldn't choose one!

See even with Pulp I couldn't choose between Different class and This is hardcore, I don't now how anyone can definitively choose just one overall, it's so hard.

Magnum - Eleventh Hour. Many (most?) Magnum fans think it's one of their worst, and the production is quite ropey. But... to me, it's got a dark, melodramatic sound to it that segues into track after track. It's a forlorn lament with a spot of bombast thrown in.

Agree, it’s that this was the soundtrack to the summer when i brought it! My all time fav band is the sheds but equally I wouldn’t say that any of their albums are total classics but all great!

I am a huge fan of David Gray. Got all his stuff. Favourite of mine is The Foundling, but really enjoy them all.

This is really difficult BBR. I'm just going through my music and there is so much to decide from. I suppose it depends on the mood I'm in (musical mood, that is.) I rarely watch TV, preferring to stick my cans on, selecting an album and browsing on my laptop. It would be hard for me to select an individual album as my all time favourite, as my musical moods can take me to listening to The Best of Ludovico Einaudi (classical piano), Amy MacDonald, Pink Floyd (for me, the Wall), David Gray, Nilsson, Bob Dylan, my compilation of Northern Soul, The White Buffalo, Chris Rea, Peter Gabriel,...…… the list is seemingly endless. It seems every time I play an album, I think that it's my favourite, until I play something else! Anyway, I'm currently listening to The White Buffalo. (alternative country, cowpunk blues!)
