The problem is that the personal clash between him and Giblet means that Giblet is constantly trying to prove him wrong, that's despite LR winning an employment tribunal over the CT burying the ACL loan buyout.

Is that true? Never knew that. Do you have a link?

still a lot comes down to too much ego and not enough common sense on both sides for a long time.

He got compensation, no restrictions on reporting what had happened and the CT editor left, which was of course entirely coincidental. I’d take that as a win.

Yeah the Editor went the same day as that from what I remember.

Can see the CET editor raging at such a brilliant piece of journalism staring at his news room thinking this guys better than that lot out there...

Also just demonstrates the hatred for Wasps in this city and it’s hopeful demise in the next couple of years.

The CET Editor barely knows the basics of what's gone on.

It is all true. I spoke to him a few years ago when it all kicked off with the Telegraph. He told me that he'd been forced out as he wouldn't toe the line. He got loads of abuse at the time (a lot on here too) and it wasn't nice for him. He's sat on a lot of the information for a while that's coming out now ( i'm not sure why but he had to i think). It must be hard knowing a lot of whats gone on but being unable to put it out there especially when he was getting dogs abuse at the time.

All to get one over on the crest of a Sisu hating wave in the hope of being lauded our saviors. No money involved.

I remember at the time the consensus opinion of Les wasn't very good. I think collectively we were wrong. At one point think he used to post on here occasionally (would love to see local journalists posting on here more regularly again personally). Have a lot of respect for him for sticking to his guns and following the story through despite the abuse he was (and still is) getting.

You see, that's what I just don't get. He's "sat on" lots of information for years and years. He leaves CT on principle, but his principles then seemed to desert him. weird. I recall he got pulled up many times on twitter for BS, and instead of producing some "evidence" he just blocked people. That just adds fuel to the fire.

I find that odd from an award winning investigative journo.

It is a good article, though not sure it needed the rather petty criticism of Linnell's coverage of the protest (and I assume he means feted rather than fated).

I'm not sure he was far too wrong on Linnell, his sneering patronising of callers who don't share his view is becoming embarrassing, and to work at what should be an impartial organisation he likes to ram his opinion down everyone's throat.

Yes, as much as people criticise Clive Eakin he is pretty good at trying to balance arguments.
