Thats a bold claim. So Reid writes the statements for the club and program. hmm

Or it's just somebody more bothered about the council making shit up to mislead fans.

Let's not forget his "Season Ticket holders are nobs" image he liked to throw about when he was "Fisherbaiter".

Those accounts are getting really desperate, it's quite funny.

The move from HR to the Ricoh made going to games more of a faff for my family than travelling to Birmingham City will. This must be true for many, many others.
Spot on Terry - Living in Kenilworth St Andrews much easier access. Oh and why is that - 25 minute walk if you want to park for nothing - a council decision that preempted SISU ownership

I wasn't planning on bothering with any home games next season (laziness and the hassle of it rather than any principle blah blah) but Robins' commitment has swayed me I think. I'll still believe the new stadium stuff when I see it, but I don't think he's complicit in any bullshit.

Another thought. I have always maintained that there are only three constants at a football club (4 if you include Oggy!)
1 - The fans (us)
2 - Our memories - be it 1967, 1987, Old Trafford 2007, or more recently 2018 promotion
3 - The ground
The Ricoh hasn’t been around long enough, and even in that short time intermittently available, to take away the memories of Highfield Rd
So by default we are the football club.
As evidence has shown we are never going to influence events off the field.
We have to support the team - At least St Andrews is a proper football ground, and it doesn’t have 30 mostly obese characters rolling around on it every other week

Manager Mark Robins has said that he is ‘deeply disappointed’ for fans who had hoped to watch his side play at the Ricoh Arena, but issued a rallying call for Sky Blues fans to get behind the team while they groundshare in Birmingham.

Following Friday’s announcement of a groundshare at St Andrew’s, Robins said that the confirmation gives clarity for the Club to move forward, and that he had received assurances from the Owners of the Football Club that they have the willingness and capability to develop the Club’s own stadium.

“I would like to say first and foremost, I am deeply disappointed for our supporters who had hoped, quite rightly, that we would be playing our home games at the Stadium that was built for Coventry City to play in,” Robins said.

“Secondly, it is a complete and utter disgrace that the Ricoh Arena, which again, was built as the home of Coventry City Football Club, is owned by a Rugby Club that has its roots in Buckinghamshire. How can that happen?

“Coventry is ‘City of Sport’ in 2019 – this is an absolute joke.”

When asked about the situation and if anything more could have been done, the Sky Blues Manager urged fans to look to the future.

“The ultimately unsuccessful talks regarding the renegotiation of the contract to stay at the Ricoh are now at an end and we now have to focus on our future. What has changed? Well, we will be leaving a stadium that we didn't own and moving to a stadium that we don't own, with a football pitch to play on.

“It is in Birmingham, 20 minutes out of the City, at a Championship ground and our closest available ground. I would prefer to have a different set of circumstances, but we have what we have. This situation is historical and has to be, and now will be rectified.

“I would like to thank Birmingham City Football Club for their support in helping us to make sure we fulfil our fixtures and exist. Our first priority was to keep the Club going and we have done that.”

The Manager said that the way forward for the Club is for everyone involved to keep working hard, and to get its own stadium as soon as is possible, and made clear his commitment to the Sky Blues.

“The only way forward is for the staff, players and I, to keep working hard to keep improving the team to be competitive on the pitch, playing a good brand of football. I will continue to do this.

“Ultimately we have got to return to the Coventry area with our own stadium as soon as possible. Having our own stadium will give us our own income streams and allow us to move forward sustainably.

“This was an issue for the club before SISU came in, and without a stadium of our own it would not be sustainable for any owner of a football club.

“I asked a direct question of the Owner if they were capable and willing to develop and finance the Club’s own stadium, and I received a direct and positive answer, which I can support and work towards.

“From the bottom of my heart, and when you have had the chance to digest the information that has been disclosed and feelings have been reasoned sensibly, I am asking you, all our supporters, to continue to follow us. Supporters are our heartbeat.

“This Football club has a special place in my heart. There have been some great days, development and performances over the past two and a half years, and the two days at Wembley will always be two of the greatest days of my life as a Manager. I am committed to creating many more great days.

Robins is able to draw upon past experience of difficult circumstances at a Club, having previously been Manager of Rotherham United.

“I was Manager of Rotherham United in 2008 when a similar scenario occurred when they had to leave their Millmoor ground and play their home games in Sheffield, added into that mix was a 17-point deduction and they had no training ground. The Rotherham fans followed and the result is they now have their own ground which belongs to them, helping them to be competitive in the Championship/League 1.”

Five players have been brought in for next season already and the busy Summer of recruitment will continue for Robins, who says that the certainty the Club has for next season will now help in that process.

“It’s been a busy Summer so far. We have players lined up and wanting to sign. Now everyone knows where we stand, let’s get on with it."

Robins’ final message for supporters was a rallying cry of defiance in the face of adversity, and encouragement.

“I’m going to put together a team better than last year.

“I know this is a difficult situation for supporters, but I want to see a good following. I want people to come and to support the team. I want people to show what Coventry City is about in adversity.

“This situation has been forced on us, but let’s come through this.

“With the backing of Coventry City fans, we can do it. It can be done and will be done. We are a strong football club with a great heritage and we need to show it.”

Who's Robbins?

Indeed, he's accused me of being a Sisu employee after recent Twitter conversations.
Absolute twat.

Strange, the bloke doesn't follow anybody so he must be actively searching for things to reply to.

Somebody should let them know that the SISU Employee line doesn't work, especially as they are in overdrive and very desperate to tell everybody CCC / Wasps have done nothing wrong.

I’ll be following them further than down the road with away games only. Sorry if I’m not 100%.
Never understood why only going to the away games only! Feeding other clubs money so that they can grind CCFC into the dust as they get stronger and we get weaker.

loved the fact that Robins also extolled the virtues of the RICOH pitch while he made his statement. If we have a really good start to the season i will be watching this site with interest and see the comments.

Why do they spread poison about Robbins because he has an opinion? Most managers would have walked and got another job! its not that there are not any vacancies is it. I listen to the vitriol down the Social club from some of the fans (sorry supposed to be fans!!) Robbins has no opinion of them so why is it right they have opinions of him because he is not caustic about his employers. I say this to them people go into work and call your boss a C&^T and see what happens.

Only if you think the council will allow SISU to build a new stadium m8
Thing is mate, how can they not allow it? If some company wants to invest in an unused site, creating jobs, generating income from sale of land and rates...what excuse is there to block it, if it doesn't break any rules?

Placing obstacles shows the public the council are not supporting CCFC and plays into SISU's hands (ie. no barriers, they have to follow through). Why don't the council just call their bluff and let them get on with it?

A mate of mine did just that in a company I worked for in the '80s. He was very quickly shown the door!

I think that this is the point. I very much doubt that they will ever build a stadium. I am sure getting the Ricoh is still their aim. Having convinced Robins that a new stadium is very much what they intend to do, they need to get on with it. None of the BS from last time of; three sites identified, now down to two, or can’t be identified for commercially sensitive reasons. In the past they have set hares running (new stadium site, sharing the Butts, building a new training ground etc. and nothing happens). If CCC are deliberately obstructive, or less than helpful, publish the proof at the same time as identifying sites just outside the City boundary. No excuses, no delays, just get on with it and show Robins and the rest of us that this time they are genuine. (I have to say I just cannot see this happening but would love to be proved wrong).

Just morally wrong that Coventry City Football Club will not be playing in Coventry and I’m afraid I can’t “support” that hence away only.

Each to their own and all that but when someone says it is morally wrong to go to St Andrews then basically you are stating anyone that does go lacks morals. Divisive.

If you were on here during the Sixfields period then you will know how nasty it got and I hope we don't experience anything like that. Thankfully, many of those that caused most of the arguments no longer post on here.

Per SISU’s earlier statement; they eluded that the council would take months to return calls slowing the any kind of progress. They apparently also created obstacles involving a potential ground-share at the Butts. Moving forward? I guess we’ll find out what happens m8

Complete and utter disgrace, perhaps Conn’s bosses should be asked why he still has a job as he’s unable to get his fact right.

I genuinely had no idea who he was until his Twitter ramblings were posted on here. After a quick Google, it appears he writes for the Guardian. Jesus, if a journalist working for a reputable national paper can be bought by an local council on such a trivial (for the rest of the UK) issue that really is worrying.

He's not a journalist, he's a content writer - all most of them do now is to regurgitate shit they find on Twitter and put their own sick spin on it. Fed the story by Giblet, no doubt!

Literally the only replies he’s had that aren’t slating him for being completely one sided are from Chris W!

To be fair to Conn he is a decent journalist but he's making a tit of himself here.
If this was a premiership club he'd have done his research but as it's league one he's just trotting out gibletesque cliches to try and keep up his I'm down with the supporters persona.
