I think the only bit of comfort I take from that is that we are not stuck at SA for a season and we can come home at some stage if talks are retabled. Time will tell but to be honest I don’t know who to believe at this stage

Seems it’s not quite over yet could we possibly end up staying at the Ricoh seems Sisu are playing hard ball here sensing wasps need us a lot more than we think.

Presumably any route back relies on wasps softening on their conditions? Possible bu unlikely although I do think it’s in their interest to have us there and get some money from us so you never know.

So his source. knows more than someone senior at the club ?

So Gilbert admits his information came from someone senior but still takes issue with anyone who thinks he was played by Wasps / CCC and used to present things the way they wanted.

He's had a statement from Wasps, statement from CCFC and now this all saying talks never stopped but refuses to even consider he could have got it wrong. How arrogant can you get.

I wonder which senior source was giving him info. It's obviously not a senior source at the club or Wasps.

Tynan is a top man & very trustworthy. The team that MR is developing deserves support. I wonder if a ruling by the European Commission in the near future could shorten our stay at St Andrews ?

Good to see the club ramping up today. Certainly better already than the comms about northampton

It makes absolutely zero business sense for them to not let us play there next season and its not like they're doing so well they can just stick two fingers up to us because they feel like it. They're losing a fortune every year.

They must know that they'll never get an agreement that the football club will indemnify Wasps and the council if they get found to have done something wrong. That would be absolute lunacy.

Would it even be legal? If, down the line, a court dishes out a massive fine surely they intend it to be paid by the person at fault not the person who the damage was done to.

Gilbert really is determined to make himself look like a right prat. Wish he'd just crawl into a corner and keep out of the way. This source of his has obviously fed him a sidewinder, or isn't quite as official as he'd like to think.

Tynan asked me to post this up for him:

Most of you will know that with all that’s gone at Coventry City Football Club over the years we as staff have chosen not to post comments on social media. Ourselves and many other staff are not only employees of the football club but we are also fans of the club. We feel the same pains (and some) that fans feel but for the most part we have kept our opinions to ourselves and certainly kept them off social media platforms. We read comment after comment, rumour after rumour from so called ‘people in know’ and fellow fans who are understandably frustrated and just want to express their opinion. The trouble for us employees, who are fans also, is we see and know what goes on behind the scenes - we know the truth and the facts. However due to high emotions at times and arguments already between fellow fans we choose to stay out of it and not comment - mainly for professional reasons but also to avoid being pulled into each and every debate among fans. Some may think we have gagging orders in place - this is not the case we simply chose to remain quiet.

However now is the right time to speak up, not about what’s happened in the past but what’s happening right now to our football club.
Below we have listed a number of points that need clarifying for all fans:

All those fans calling for Dave Boddy to resign - you are so very very wrong. This situation is not Dave’s doing. Dave inherited this. Since Dave has been at the club the club has operated better off pitch, the club has engaged better with the fans, Dave has allowed staff to operate the football club like a football club, doing the things we would want see happening as fans. It could be argued that the football department has operated better since Dave has been here as well. Dave is a proper football person. If fans take the time to talk to him he’ll talk your ears off about any team, any player, any goals - even back as far as games he attended in 1942! In all seriousness Dave has been great in yet again another difficult period for the club. Several times in the last couple of months when it looked like a deal or negotiations were off with Wasps it was Dave who got the deal back on and/or got people back round the table. He has worked tirelessly on this to try his utmost to keep the club at the Ricoh. Throughout the whole season, long before negotiations started, Dave constantly called, text and emailed Wasps and the Council to get people round the table to secure a deal for the football club to play at the Ricoh. The same can be said of Stuart Cain, Wasps Managing Director, he too hasn’t given up on trying to get a deal done and kept it alive when it looked like it was off. Dave and Stuart never gave up on the deal and they still haven’t given up! So to those that are calling for Dave to resign - there are just some of the facts for you as to why he shouldn’t resign!

Once negotiations started they were never called off by either party - despite media reports to the contrary. Wasps statement on 7th June confirmed this .... “we did not halt discussions even when it emerged that the owners had filed a complaint to the European Commission.....”

Neither Wasps, SISU or CCFC have ended discussions as such yet. Yes they are stuck on some points but no party has ended discussions.

SISU’s complaint to the European Commission is not one of the sticking points in the negotiations. Wasps have moved on past that. Wasps confirm this in their statement on 7th June “.....putting aside the complaint to the European Commission....”

SISU want the club to play at the Ricoh - yes there is talk of the club having its own stadium - but until that happens SISU want the club to stay in Coventry and to play at the Ricoh. At no point did SISU instruct Dave Boddy, as CEO of CCFC, not to negotiate a deal at the Ricoh.

All associated with the club are truly devastated that we are having to play outside of Coventry – no one associated with the club ‘want’ this to happen despite some fans saying and thinking that some associated with the club do ‘want’ it to happen.

However it got to the point in negotiations where the terms presented to SISU that Wasps wanted SISU to sign up to and also sign the football club to sign up to simply was not possible by terms that were being presented.

If fans knew what these terms were they would understand and given the choice fans would not sign their club up these terms either.

While we have to deal with the reality and likelihood that CCFC will play at St Andrews next season it doesn’t have to be that way. We have the option and ability to reverse the deal with Birmingham and to go back to the Ricoh - at any point, any point now or during the season.

To reiterate no party from either Wasps, SISU or CCFC have ended discussions - they are simply stuck on some points they can’t agree on - points which could have future damage to the club and/or employees. SISU rightly so can not sign the club up to these terms.

A deal can be agreed - it just requires some logic and reasonableness applying to get the deal done.

We hope that a deal can be secured in private without further statements from Wasps, CCFC, SISU or the Council.

If we play at St Andrews we as staff and fellow fans respect whatever decision fans make whether they go or not. Ideally we want fans to go to support this great manager we have in Mark Robins but we understand if you don’t go. Please just don’t give up supporting this great club and being a Sky Blue!

If we do go to St Andrews and you do buy a season ticket the club have already decided it will be honoured at whatever price you paid should we return to the Ricoh.

This can still all change - keep the faith and let’s hope all parties can agree a deal to play at the Ricoh.

We can get through this. Stick together. We’re all Sky Blue

All are playing the PR game and are using certain people and outlets to do it, this is not a shock or should be a surprise. We are being used/played again, asked to partake in the illusion that any of these parties care. If they did then they would either step aside, leave or put everything back in its box and start again for the sake of the fans, its city, the club and its history.

All these main players are shameless tossers and not one and i mean not one has come out with the truth, its sad reality or even any sense of duty to the city it belongs too. But yet we look to pick on certain individuals who really have no authority or power to change the situation. Why would we look at the likes of Les Reid or Simon Gilbert as the gate keepers of our club, Unfortunately the true rulers are making us watch them while they destroy our club and its connection to its city, they are laughing at us pointing fingers at writers, staff, or anyone with a slight connection to the club with an opinion. Its like anyone on here who posts thinking they have the individual power to change the outcome.

Its sad to think we are no nearer a solution just more divided then ever before and worst still is the fact a vast majority of fans have given up or to busy looking at blame outside the harsh reality. All these parties have blame and until one or all move aside nothing will change or the path we are on will alter for the better.

Is that the clip of the talks when all included hear someone at the back saying "are the fans really buying this that anyone around this table really cares about the club".

I've seen everyone be blamed, from SISU, to CCC to Wasps, to McGinty to Robinson to 5% mince

Not seen anyone blame Boddy. Bizarre he's started with that

Dave Boddy may be excused by some supporters and it may be argued that the club Chief Executive has done his best in difficult circumstances. It may be considered unfortunate that this is not the first time that a club under his management has gone into exile, as he presided over a similar calamity when he was Chairman at Worcester City. That is not a record to be proud of.

useful to see. Hardly the one to lead on is it.

Is that blaming him ?, just says its not a record to be proud of. that cant be the basis of it ?

Is it possible we might play the first 45 minutes of a game at St Andrews and the second half at the Ricoh?

At half time of our first game, wasps will go bust, and Seppala, Fisher and Boddy will show up with assault rifles at the city council demanding the Ricoh. The council will give it to CCFC for free (they had no other choice), and Fisher will call Robins (bleeding from his eyes no less), telling him the good news just as he’s finishing up his half time team talk. Meanwhile Dave Boddy will have nicked a helicopter and will fly it over to St Andrew’s to take everyone back to the Ricoh, and Joy Seppala will leave unnoticed to go buy more handbags from a mall in London.

Great statement Tynan.

I bought my ST last night, time to back the team and MR.

My mate messaged me last night and implied that it was coincidental that both statements were released within an hour or 2 of ST’s being announced.

Personally, whilst there appears to be a degree of sugar coating the move to Birmingham and tugging on the heartstrings of the fans, they would’ve still been released irrespective of ST’s going on sale.

Let’s hope they keep up the communication on this scale going forward. Robins’ statement was full of passion, loved it.
