I went out into my garden after a recent rainstorm and noticed the rocks looked very pretty when wet.
So I assembled a few of the nicer ones, cleaned them with an old toothbrush, sprayed water on them, arranged them on a paper plate and shot this:

Stonehenge last week, very over rated, It's a few rocks in a field.

Bloody rip-off admission price as well! Just to see a pile of old rocks! I think it was about £15 each about ten years ago when me and 'er indoors went!

It was £22, + £6 for a guide book. Horrendously overpriced and the place was rammed.

I went there on a school trip in the 1960's. It was free and you could walk right up to the stones and touch them.
They were just some interesting rocks in a field.
No commercialisation. No fence, rope or anything.

A good theory but those stones were brought in from somewhere else.
The landscaping companies here use what they call 'river rock'.
You can buy it in various quantities to use in gardens.
I've no idea where it comes from, maybe they really are dredged from rivers.
Some of the stones look like granite and the one at top right looks volcanic.
But you are right they have all been smoothed by moving water or tumbling against each other.

There's a cave like that in Kephalonia. Melissani Cave. Boat trips were a couple of Euros. The water was so clear, you could almost see the bottom, and it was really deep!

With a bit of playing around with the ISO and shutter speed, I managed to snap this in the old Cathedral. I quite like how I was able to make 9:45 AM look more like dusk!

I love caves. I went to the Caves of Arta in Majorca many many years ago.
There's a good cave in Jamaica too. Can't remembere the name of it but to get to it we had to travel hours on a rickety old train.

That 2nd photo is fantastic, I really like the blurring of light on photos, definitely adds something. What is the building in the background of that one?

Until I visited Budapest in the summer and had time on my hands to test my camera, id never managed a long exposure shot. On that holiday over 2 days, I tested it against Trams! And was very impressed with the outcome!

Not sure who the old boys are;

One of my favourite types of photography. It's called Light Trails. Long exposures, best set up on a tripod and obviously taken at night but not necessarily needs to be. You can take long exposure pictures at lighter times of the day but just adjust camera settings. Great pictures as well SW88!

I'm actually looking forward to buying sparklers soon! You can get some fabulous long exp. shots using sparklers. A few examples.....

I had a small tripod I used. Again I’d not really used it much before but will definitely use it again

Tripods are a great investment and they can be bought quite cheaply. No need to spend silly money. New ones can start for as little as £30-£40. I have two. One smallish one and one a fair bit bigger.

I'm a sucker for lizards Gaz. I always look out for them when I'm out and about. Spotted some when in Ventnor Botanical Gardens on the Isle of Wight a couple of years back....

Few more photos from my trip to Utah, these were all taken in the town of Torrey.
A sign for a local eating-place.
A hand-painted street sign.
An old abandoned house, sitting in the middle of a field. It looks well-preserved.
The mountain in the distance to the left is an extinct volcano.

A couple more:
Some riverside grasses near the Fremont River, Capitol Reef State Park, Utah.
A shot of Lake Powell on the Utah/Arizona border.
It's impossible to convey the stunning scenery in a photograph.

I'm a big burly git of 16stone, shaved head and tattoos. Basically, thug-like. BUT! I have a passion! And that is my wee dog! He is a long-haired Chihuahua who I would give my life for! Anyway, why I say all this is because he is so photogenic and I have literally hundreds of pics of him! I've chosen a few at random....

When we first got him! He was irresistible!
