Britain takes over New York on Saturday night. Should be comfortable wins for AJ, Smith, Kelly and Buatsi. Coyle in a much harder test and can see him retiring should he lose.

Katie Taylor has the chance to unify the division in a tough fight against Persoon. I’m slightly surprised that more isn’t being made of this fight given the attempted rise of women’s sport at the minute. The media seem keen on pushing women’s football but are ignoring Taylor potentially making history on Saturday.

In other news, Wilder has agreed to rematch Ortiz with rumours of the Kownacki fight being scheduled after. Looks like it could be AJ v Pulev next and the unification fight is seemingly getting further away.

agree, I think there are some sports in which the women's game can be taken as seriously as the mens and boxing is certainly one of them.

Looks like AJ wont fight Wilder for a long time, not sure if that's the authorities wanting to keep the belts separate or more likely the TV deals they have in place. Personally rather see him go toe-to-toe with Fury as a big British showdown. Feel sorry for Whyte also, keeps getting overlooked for big fights and a different prospect to the person who was beaten by AJ a few years back

AJ won’t fight Fury and he’s signed exclusively to ESPN. If Whyte and fury win their next fights, that fight is ordered. Can’t see fury taking it though as ESPN won’t want purse bids.

Whyte and Fury will be a great bout. Shame the sport is all about money unlike football (oh wait....)

Apparently Fury has pulled out of the Whyte fight , If true that’s a real shame.

Completely agree about Taylor and it is a massive shame she doesn’t get the coverage she deserves as she is everything you want to see in a boxer.

She’s aggressive, a spiteful puncher, has great footwork, doesn’t mind mixing it up and is a genuinely nice person and speaks very well.

It's Taylor who won me round to the potential of women's boxing. She's a good boxer - not just "a good boxer for a woman". Technically very decent and got the character skills a good boxer needs

Unbelievable upset, couldn’t be bothered to watch it but he looked well beaten. The guy had about a stone and a half on AJ too. First fight in the states and gets put on his ass, oh dear

People massively misjudged Andy Ruiz because of his body shape. The guy can fight, it seems to be the casual fan’s expectation that truly top class boxers are built like bodybuilders and that clouds their judgement.

Remember the ruthless monster Mike Tyson? Utterly destroyed all before him for 37 bouts...& got put on his arse by one Buster Douglas.
The ruthless monster Vlad Klitchko...he got put on his arse by AJ.
Even the greatest got put on his arse eventually!

It is a sport where lady luck & complacency can make an overwhelming difference. Almost all boxers get found out at some point - then the work starts to make sure they can cope under similar circumstances in the future.

Listened to it on the radio. Never saw that coming to be honest. AJ not as good as he thinks he is ? As for his opponent being flabby and overweight, fat boxers can still fight as Joshua found out.

I think the difference was buster Douglas was actually half decent in an era wheen heavyweight boxing was superior, and tyson was sniffing cocaine until 4am thinking he'd walk the fight.
Vlad got caught by AJ but was winning the fight.... He was old and past it by a long way.
AJ got wobbled by whyte, vlad, povetkin and now this lad... He's no good

I mentioned on a boxing site that asked the question " Which 2 heavyweight boxers past or present would you like to see in a contest ? " I wrote Marciano v Mike Tyson. Got told Tyson would destroy Marciano. As Mike would be too big and strong etc. Watch Marciano on old clips, could take big shots round after round, and keep coming forward, and had a knockout punch too. In heavyweight boxing as AJ discovered don't underestimate your opponent, looks can be deceptive.

I know that’s what everyone is thinking but Ruiz record is pretty good(although not sure who has fought). Isn’t it 31 victories and only 1 defeat?

He was well beaten too. Just watched the fight and Ruiz was systematically taking him apart for a good couple of rounds before finishing it in the 7th. Joshua looked completely out of ideas.

It was shocking really. Struggling to remember when a defending champion beat the count and then refused to carry on as well. I think Ruiz did a proper number on him in the end both physically and mentally and all in the ring. Fair play to him.

He really needs to win that rematch now. Hopefully it is in the UK and at a decent time so i can watch it. It will be interesting to see whether Ruiz looks after himself a bit better now and comes in next time in better shape. At least it has added a bit of interest to a division that was starting to look rather dull again.
