Live: European Commission Ricoh complaint is 'not legal action'

Complaint made in feb, apparently now its 'not' legal action
Just what the fuck is going on

Sisu have made a complaint to the EC, so firstly, the EC will decide if they think the complaint warrants investigation. If it is, the EC will conduct the investigation and also decide what remedial action is required, if appropriate. The EC will keep the complainant (Sisu), informed of progress on a regular basis. If remedial action is being contemplated, Sisu may be invited to comment. Once the process has been completed by the EC, they may possibly check with Sisu whether they agree that no further action is required by the EC and the complaint can be closed. Other than these minor consultations, Sisu will not be involved. As you can see, this is very different from Sisu taking legal action.

The above is based on my experience of making a complaint to the EC against the UK Government for maladministration.

Sounds more and more like a PR exercise to blame Sisu for everything again

The more Gilbert responds on twitter justifying releasing this 'news' yesterday the more it seems he's been played.

His comment about taking it to Europe is inaccurate isn't it? This isn't the legal case SISU lost recently being appealed to Europe.

Coventry City's proposed Ricoh Arena return blocked by European Commission

All the optimism gone within the space of 24 hours. Fuck every party involved in destroying our football club

The headline is very misleading, so let's get this straight. It's the insects that have blocked further talks. Presumably because Sisu made a complaint to the EC that the CCC broke the EU rules when selling the Ricoh to the insects. The point is that Sisu have not made a complaint to the EC about the insects. They were simply the beneficiaries of the alleged breach by CCC. This seems to me like pretty thin basis for discontinuing talks. Unless of course the insects have some reason to fear the EC investigation into circumstances around their purchase of the Ricoh?

Club released statement saying talks are ongoing so its all turned out to be bullshit from Gilbert

Gilbert now saying that all parties only found out this week in regards to the complaint, making it up as he goes along

Well that is possible, because the EC may have only recently decided to investigate the complaint. CCC may not have found out about it until they were notified of the EC intention to open an investigation..

This is a fun thread to watch unfold
He's not wrong. The Lucas thing infuriates me. How you can openly and repeatedly lie to the public and there not be any comeback when you're found out is beyond me. Tried complaining to the local government ombudsman about it only to be told you can't file a complaint about something like that as it doesn't impact you as an individual.

Sisu’s complaint to the commission is not a legal process per se.

“The European Commission is in charge of policing state rules, so Sisu’s complaint is very much like referring someone – in this case Coventry City Council – to the police.

“It is probably fair to say, therefore, that Sisu are not bringing any legal action against the Wasps.”

So effectively, in February they just tried to grass the council up.

It sounds like it is reporting somebody to a governing body, no different to people shouting at the EFL is it?

Tell you what though, I bet the news about the council's bullying culture has been buried and forgotten ;)

Weren’t Simon Gilbert part of the cover up of the ACL sale because “it was public interest”
That was when Reid was there, he didn't agree with their decision to cover it up and got pushed out. Not sure if Gilbert was there in a more junior role prior to taking Reid's place.

If you ask him about it on twitter he claims to have no knowledge about it, bit strange for someone who's written a book about the whole saga.

It's interesting when it comes out that PWKH was claiming Reid was on SISU's payroll and that Gilbert also gave evidence to say he was. Later turned out he wasn't and he won his claim against them and the editor just happened to vanish the same day.

The SISU Payroll is an interesting one, especially when it comes from somebody like PWKH. Same bloke who threatened people on here with his family of lawyers but it turned out needed multiple accounts to try and push rumours against people. Funniest thing is that most of the people pushing things have actually turned out to be on the council's payroll.

You’ve got to admit our club know how to keep things in the news during the closed season. Anyway now I’m seriously worried as against before just concerned that the talks were taking so long.

Maybe the EC will think fuck it, you're leaving the Union and we don't want lots of problem cases dragging on for years, so do one.

There seems to be a good chunk of peeps jumping in quick to point all the fingers everywhere but SISU again ?! What a shambles !
