Personally, I thought Kieran Westwood was our best keeper - logically the best keeper in sky-blue history by a country mile has got to be Reg Matthews who played for England national team whilst playing for Cov City in the third division ( must have been some keeper)

Best I ever saw was Bill Glazier. But for a broken leg may have made it into the 66 World Cup squad, Next best Jim Blyth.

Too young to have seen him, but from bar room discussions with people who saw us during the Jimmy Hill years all have Bill Glazier as our best ever keeper.

Magnus Hedman was a good keeper. He replaced Oggy. Also highly underrated but never got enough playing time was John Filan.

Oggy wins for longevity and consistency.

Kirkland was better than Hedman, kept Hedman out the team. Not that Hedman wasn’t a good keeper.

Hedman was spectacular and athletic, not so sure his organisation and positioning was always as good as it could have been, so he ended up looking better than he was.

IMHO.

Glazier.

Toss between Glazier and Hedman in the years I have been going up

Hedman was excellent until his final season or two.

That performance away at Leicester in the cup was phenomenal. They absolutely battered us, and he kept us in the game

Always Oggy for me, played in the top division forever, behind defences that weren't always top quality, and rarely made any howlers. And all that over an epic number of games.

Kirkland next, imho, if it wasn't for the injury problems I think he might have had a truly stellar career.

Westwood the best of the rest, maybe...

In my years of watching, Oggy was the best. I was incensed when Jonathan Gould briefly took his place. Since then, Hedman, Kirkland and Westwood stand out.

Stockdale obviously never let a goal in !!

Jim Blyth - carried off the pitch on supporters shoulders (IIRC) after letting in 4! Saved a last minute penalty when we beat Norwich 5-4 many a Boxing Day ago!

I loved watching Bill Glazier, a spectacular and exciting goalkeeper but Oggy would still be my choice for number one. Sheer consistency and all games played in the top flight. Glazier would be my second choice and Jim Blyth third. I never felt Hedman was that good. Certainly when it came to the bravery stakes, Oggy would always put his head in where it hurt. I’m not sure Magnus ever did that.

Oggy then Glazier and i would put Les Sealey right up there, certainly better than Jim Blythe.

I think Sealey spoiled things a bit with some of his antics for another club (may have even been Villa) when playing against us after he left?? Or did I dream that I heard that....

Arthur Lightning, I always wondered why he stagged on to pitch, I was to young to relise he was drunk. Signed for Middlesbough played a few gams and went back to South Africa

Think he well and truly fell out with us and was very critical of Cov when he left, didn’t help his popularity with out fans at the time but that doesn’t take away his ability while here. He played behind some poor defences too

Us old 'uns will mostly favour the greats that we remember, and yes, my all time choice would be the fantastic Bill Glazier. Jim Blyth was okay, but I remember watching an international between England and Scotland. Blyth was the Scots keeper. I was really proud to see a city player on TV in an international match, but cringed when a defender rolled, yes rolled a back pass to him (you could back then), and he let it slip through his hands in into the goal! (I might try to find this on YouTube!)
