Have we another year in our favour with him?

No idea. Nothing was said at the time of the deal but then again, it was the same for Davies and then revealed later that we have an option. I’d hope we’ve done the same with Hiwula

Mason would get a lot more cover if Hiwula had the work ethic and tenacity of Thomas and Thomas would get a lot more goals if he had the finishing and instincts of Hiwula. Together they'd make a complete player!

Hiwula actually does quite a lot defensively.

To think he started out of the spot light. So much so I didn’t even realise he was actually ours until my mate pointed it out well into the season.

To think that baka came in, and was in the spotlight because he wasn’t Chaplin. Chaplin came in with so much pressure on his head after the transfer was dragged out. Yet Jordy comes in, gets played out of what we think was his preferred position and gets the job done. Has more often than not put a shift in whether out wide or up top. Pleased to see it coming off for him

I think he has done well, but along with the rest of our forwards he must take some responsibility for not scoring as many as he should have. Having 69% on target is great, but actual goals scored is really the only stat that matters for a forward - although I'll accept assists as well....

I'm not suggesting he's lazy - he presses hard from the front. I genuinely don't think he gets up and down the pitch like Thomas though. For me Sterling gets much more direct support from Thomas than Mason does from Hiwula. It might even be a deliberate tactic as Hiwula almost plays as a 2nd striker at times, running beyond Baka quite often, while Thomas drops deeper and wider to find his space.

He has a nice habit of scoring against his ex teams and he has quite a few of them. Also when he scores against his former sides he celebrates which I like in a player

This is a pretty good example for not taking stats at face value. Hiwula has had a strange season. He definitely has quality, and has contributed positively at times to the teams cause, but in certain games he offered very little, and missed a number of easy chances, some of which he hit straight at the keeper, and which would therefore be counted as a shot on target.

Missed some sitters along the way but it was great to see his first time instinct kick in for his goal against Portsmouth

We'll ignore him being top scorer as that's a ridiculously superficial statistic (Jesus wept)

Fair enough, yes he is top scorer with 12 goals. If that is a statistic precious to you though, then 18 players have scored more league 1 goals than him, which kind of puts him in his rightful place in the league 1 pecking order, for this season at least. That said he has finished the season well, which is a positive sign for next season when hopefully he will kick on and get the 20 or so goals that he perhaps should have had this season.

Has really kicked on since Christmas and has struck up a great understanding with Bright and Baka. There was a spell earlier on in the season when he couldn’t get a game. Could arguably have reached 20 if he’d hit form earlier (or put his sitters away). Hopefully next term for a player who has consistently scored goals at this level for a number of teams in the past.
