Im sure most city fans would say Hiwula and Bakayoko have been successful signings, who both have the potential to improve to be at least championship players. Don’t think the point about not signing a replacement for McNulty is relevant, none of us actually know how he would’ve faired in league 1. Out of his depth at Reading in the championship but now firing again in the Scottish peek, which is equivalent to high league 2/low league 1 outside of Celtic & rangers.
He would have set league one alight with the chances we created

Very true: Genuine question how many points has Burge cost us this season against how many he has earned us with match winning saves, compared to how many good chances Luke Thomas for example who I rate, has spearned or delivered poor final balls to team mates has cost points.
Isn't that his job to earn us points not drop them

He can’t be too bad - he’s still playing at 38
At L2 level mostly. He was abysmal and even worse than Burge! Lets not forget though that Shearer was punching above his weight in the Championship and was clearly out of his depth. Burge who seems to believe in his own hype and thinks he will get a move to the Championship will also be shown up in the Championship.

I don’t really understand this view on Burge. He has said he has not been offered a new contract. How can he sign a contract that is not there? He has generally been the number one goal keeper for the past 6 years. During that time we have had 5 managers who have pretty much consistently picked Burge as the number 1 keeper and have not tried to replace him. That is why he has played so many games, because those managers had faith in him. Is he a great goalkeeper? No, I don’t think many people think this but he has grown into the role and I think improved year on year. He does make mistakes and has cost us points this season. So has De Gea for Man Utd and probably every other keeper too. He has also gained us points with outstanding saves (example, from Scannel the other day). It is unfair to do this because, as has been pointed out, those who miss gilt edged chances aren’t held to account in the same way; I would say he has cost us points at Walsall, at Luton, at home to Burton. That’s total points lost between 4 and 9 depending on how you look at it. (If we had not conceded first against Walsall, we probably wouldn’t have conceded the second.)
I do think he is made a scapegoat with his his mistakes magnified and his relative consistency selectively ignored. Can we do better? Probably. However, after his honeymoon period, unless he is exceptional, the same characters who harp on about Burge will be on at the new guy too.

I want to believe there's a good keeper in Burge. But I just can't. Now and again he pulls off some good saves, and you catch a glimpse of some ability. But he's just too error prone. He has zero command of his area, and once he flaps at one he struggles to recover from it. That then puts pressure on the defence, because they can't trust him.

I do wonder if there is a coaching issue. I seem to remember Oggy being a pretty good shot stopper, but for his size didn't really command his area. I'm going off memory from when I was young, and from the bits and pieces I've seen in videos.

Doesn’t have the concentration levels and heart to be a professional footballer. I had Burge weighed up from the first minute. Sadly I was right.

Love the so called experts on here. He missed three punches today and could have caused 3 goals. He most certainly wasn’t the reason we lost the game

You’re certainly no expert on goalkeeping, otherwise you’d see that Burge is probably one of the worst keepers in this league. Thank god he’s not under contract and hasn’t been offered a new one, otherwise we could’ve been stuck with this fool even longer! Are you saying you know more than Robins, as he clearly doesn’t rate him enough to give him a new contract.

The same robins who hasn’t signed a replacement and has played him consistently in his time as manager. I’m certain he won’t get another contract but what a meltdown on here if he does !!!

I'll bet it was a cheerfull bus ride back, knowing he's cost us again. I would lock the fucker in the toilet and make sit on the bog all the was home, Robins should tell him to give training a miss from now on cos nothing seems to make any difference. Got to give Addai the next couple of no-meaning games to see if he's any better, if not fuck them both off and start again.
