Did you see Gary Newbon's column in the telegraph on Tuesday?

He said "I understand there is a newish member of the Hoffman show who is a very wealthy rugby club owner"

Did we already know this, or at least guessed it?
Is it Derek Richardson? Has this thing gone full scooby doo?

I heard this a few weeks back...Richardson was part of the consortium...posted somewhere on a thread, can't remember which one...
Was convoluted how I heard... a literal heard from a friend who etc...
Didn't fully fathom what my mate was saying... something to do with a guy who's company made all of the olympic torches, based in Cov... or something like that...

Also fits in with one of early statements from Nick Eastwood about in the future both clubs working together (or something like that) and could be why, and maybe club knew because they called them out on it, the members of the consortium were not disclosed....

What a lot of unsubstantiated rumours popping up.

If i recall, my mate said something like.... he knows the guy that owns them, he's done quite well out of it all and knows Richardson off the back of it.... something like that... but anyway... crux of it was that he said Richardson was in consortium.... so is there any thruth now Gary Newbon has mentioned it??

Breaking- New Consortium Bid
Coventry telegraph. Note he also talks about setting up a new team....

Says Solihull only founded in 2007....pretty sure Moor Green and Solihull boro, both very well established non league teams, merged and took Moor Greens league place which at that time was higher than Solihulls.
Said before, people that think the non league "journey" might be fun are sadly mistaken. A new club would more than likely be around about step 4, currently Sphinx, Cov Utd at step 5, Stratford, Bedworth at Step 3, Leam, Nuneaton at Step 2. (Although Beduff and Nuneaton will be relegated). Some absolute holes of places and comared to lg1, poor standard...
Many many clubs have thrown a lot of money at promotions and failed many many times....

Agree. The idea that you drop 6 levels and then you somehow rise up in a glorious ascent through the leagues is romantic guff. Having a bit more cash than everyone else and being a big fish guarantees nothing more than a weekly fixture on a parks pitch against a team that plays like it's a cup final.

Jesus Christ, it gets worse. You know he hasn't just made that up and someone has fed it to him.

Also why has he got a column in the Telegraph?

Not the sort of thing you just come up with is it?

I guess as he’s been involved with midlands sport. He is in the CT once a week.

Where's schmeee to shout conspiracy? Wonder if the trust will comment?
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were fully on board with the set up of a new Hoffman lead club to play at the Ricoh and their recent relative silence is them keeping their powder dry til our groundshare is announced. Then there'll be the fanfare and the announcement of AFC Coventry Hornets and how we should all back this new team in Coventry. With Wasps, Council, Trust, Hoffman's consortium all in on it.

There's been too much flat batting questions away recently from all of those parties, makes me suspicious that they're all following the agreed party line. Force the club out by not negotiating and start over with a new one.

Newbon was?
Surprised at that, never saw him in there myself and always had him down at anti City.
Never liked the man every since he barged past me outside Highfield rd in the 70s. Not that I'm one to hold a grudge over something trivial.

You're not from Sunderland by any chance are you?

Strange, this was never mentioned other than that. He has now mentioned he has heard there might be a groundshare and its fired up ;)

So, Gary Newbon has heard that Wasps have teamed up with Hoffman, hinted at a new club if CCFC move and now Wasps have "halted talks" with some random demands.
