Do those stadiums have big fan bases? I wouldn't be surprised to see some people buying tickets to the next photocopier expo to show their support to the Ricoh.
Haha - I'll be the first in the queue to photocopy my arse!

I meant the cities haven't combusted, couldn't give a shite about the Ricoh. Might just have to go and get my brick back, oh and we'll have to move Jimmy of course!

edit: Having "Ricoh" in my name is just unfortunate!!!

Led by the trust. David Johnson will camp out there overnight having dressed up as printer by painting his bin bag sleeping bag grey and with a sheet of A4 paper in his mouth.

@ Nick

Your constant assertions that anyone who has a perspective different from yours or asks a question about your position on a particular subject says everything so feel free to leave this one be.

Unless you actually fancy answering a question directly. Not something you're keen on, normally. The normal strategy of conspiracy theory logic and obfuscation is getting really old now.
I can happily answer it. Many CCFC fans aren't from the city itself, so for those of us who fall into this category, the football club means a lot more to us than the City, so I couldn't care less about an empty stadium the council has thrust upon you.

Thanks for the responses. Like LG said just now, it's brought out just how much the Council's actions have alienated fans and hardened folks' stance.

I'll remain a giant Hippie and feel CCFC and Wasps both feeling at home at the Ricoh would be a good result but accept that's a minority view! : |

If SISU have the best interests of CCFC at heart, they should try to buy a 50% stake in the Ricoh. That way the WASP's could pay of a large proportion if their debt, we could have all of our match day revenue, maintenance costs would be halved and we could have half the wonga from all of the concerts etc. Seems like a no brainer to me. I don't really care if the Wasp's play there or not, it does not affect my life in anyway. Travelling to MK or Burton every week does. My kids worrying about where we are going to play next season does. Doing housework or DIY on a Saturday because there is no football is a terrifying prospect

I'd be fine with the club paying half of what London Wasps did for half but I wouldn't be happy if we had to pay half of their current valuation i.e. £30m for what they got for a few million not long ago.

Also I wouldn't want any exposure to their debt. I don't see how that can happen when it's loaded against the arena.

that can only happen with a 50-50 share of ownership

If the club can’t but a share in the RICOH, then our long future has to be building our own stadium.

Why does a section of our fans have this weird attachment to the RICOH? It’s brought nothing but disaster for this club even before SISU came to town.

Ultimately, the stadium is Wasps’ problem now and if they go bust or they leave Coventry that’s on them. The council have weighed up the risk/reward too, so each side has to take ownership.

I’d be happy if we could at least get half a share of the RICOH and cooperate with Wasps. But, the alternative is building our own stadium.

I'm trying to get my head around whether I see the ground situation differently to most or if the issue that's bothering me is on the mind of others.

I care about my city more than CCFC. For that reason, I want the Ricoh to be used, I want CCFC to use it and I'm happy if that means sharing with Wasps.

Some seem comfortable with a scenario where CCFC have a new stadium, Wasps fold or move and the Ricoh sits unused. I can't understand that point of view.

I understand folks feelings towards Wasps but a link between CCFC's success and Wasps going backwards seems like Race-to-the-bottom scapegoating.

Big picture wise - is having the Ricoh sitting unused while we play elsewhere in the city a good thing? What's more important to you - the club or the city?
Then the club should have been allowed to buy the Higgs 50% they bid on but that didn't happen. Why should the club now be at the mercy of Wasps just so we don't risk making the council look bad.

If you care about the city of Coventry you should care about its football club, irrespective of if you are a supporter. It is one of the most recognisable 'brands' the city has.

Do you really think people at these overseas trade shows the council take Wasps along to see Wasps and think 'Coventry'? Now imagine if they took a couple of the 87 cup winning squad along. Which one do you think gets more attention and therefore is more beneficial to the city.

The council are taking a huge risk based on their own personal vendetta.

Personally I don't even think a 50% share of the Ricoh would do us any favours at this point unless we get it on the cheap. We'd be saddled with the debt against the stadium and at the minute, it's hardly making any profits. No doubt Wasps would love us to take on half.

If the Ricoh belonged to CCFC would I want to share it with Wasps ? , no because the pitch struggles with Rugby and Football.

Fact: CCFC bought the land the Ricoh is on, did the deal with Tescos to fund the stadium. Ran out of money, borrowed from the Council and tried to pay the council back, but they wanted to keep the stadium.

Opinion: Our owners moved us away to destabilise ACL, who countered by installing Wasps. CCFC going into administration and he council selling to Wasps removed liability of ACL from both parties.
Court cases are destabilise Wasps who now run ACL.

In my opinion the Ricoh will not be empty as Sisu will get it at a knock down deal before any other stadium is built.
This is only my opinion based on previous actions not on any inside knowledge.

Ultimately the club needs 100% revenue. The Ricoh is a clusterfuck of contracts that are not helpful to any sport owner of the stadium.

With 50% of the revenue the ambition is capped. The fact the council designed the Ricoh this way is their fault and not that of the football club. If it goes tits up that’s on the council, I have no attachement to something heavily linked with the football clubs downfall

It seems to me you are just repeating an argument that agrees with your opinion/wishes without having analysed the numbers. If not can we all see your analysis, what contracts and what are the numbers etc.?

I never expressed one on that, I'm asking the poster to justify his assertion that there is a clusterfuck of contracts.

Isn’t a high % of food and beverage already owned by Delaware? On top of that the casinos lease is already agreed as is the Hilton?

Would you want the club to have full control of said revenue? Further to this a football club is likely to bring in higher revenue with regards to naming rights - why would we want to share them?

What else financially can the club gain from these existing contracts?

That isn't an analysis, it is an admission that you don't understand how those contracts work & why they've been made.

I agree a joint approach for sponsopship/naming rights would bring more money in, how it would be shared is the issue but that scanario isn't on the cards right now is it.

If SISU got hold of the stadium 100% I remember Fisher stating that they would of got AEG in to run it for them,AEG being an American sports and music entertainment business. Total opposite of the socialist led council who run ACL

Go on then, explain how a joint venture into those contracts would benefit the club greater than if they were in full control?

Won’t AEG operate the running ? They’ll bring in better revenue than ACL. Again why would we want to share

You're the one who raised the issue, you explain the situation. I won't hold ny breath because from your posts so far it looks like you are struggling with it.

Hint, perhaps you can explain why CCFC has contracts with Ticketmaster & Just Sport, what benefit do they confer.

Annoyingly for us AEG have a habit of buying clubs that operate in the venues they run and pumping money in to make them winning teams that bring larger crowds. What might have been ...

We do it because we haven't got a pot to piss in and it means we don't have to spend money out upfront.

Partly true, it is a cost control measure that sub contracts to experise in a field.
A fee is paid and a service is provided, in some cases reduced profits are shared.
Like the Hilton hotel, the Delaware facilities management and the Casino operation.
Saves the club dealing with the intracies of an operation they don't understand (like SISU had little idea about how to run a football club for some years).
Makes fiscal sense & guarantees finiancial boundaries.

Yeah haven’t they paid up front for a % of our merch and ticket sales off their platforms?

Delaware have paid a hefty sum, already to wasps. What we gonna do? Ask them for a rebate

25 year contract, bet they're shitting themselves too, they lost £1.35M on £85M turnover last year.

You've changed your argument. You originally said the contracts were unhelpful to the stadium owner, well they are helpful to the current owner.
That's the situation, I'm not saying that's any help to SISU/CCFC, I never said that but you seem to think that's what you were talking about.

Cor who wants that, a successful Premier League football team in Coventry making millions in the process from concerts and the like as well as all additional tourism it would generate. Our council don't want that lets have 3000 paying London Wasps fans instead and fuck the football club off!
