I'm trying to get my head around whether I see the ground situation differently to most or if the issue that's bothering me is on the mind of others.

I care about my city more than CCFC. For that reason, I want the Ricoh to be used, I want CCFC to use it and I'm happy if that means sharing with Wasps.

Some seem comfortable with a scenario where CCFC have a new stadium, Wasps fold or move and the Ricoh sits unused. I can't understand that point of view.

I understand folks feelings towards Wasps but a link between CCFC's success and Wasps going backwards seems like Race-to-the-bottom scapegoating.

Big picture wise - is having the Ricoh sitting unused while we play elsewhere in the city a good thing? What's more important to you - the club or the city?

Strong debating skills.
Sadly you have poor "try to mask it" skills. Don't be so obvious.

Have already pointed this out to you on another thread. The one where you tried to say people wanted to cling onto sisu.

In answer to the last paragraph. If it was possible to play elsewhere in the city yes. CCFC owes the Ricoh nothing.
In the realms of fantasy but if Wasps went bust or fucked off back to London and CCFC had already moved until a new stadium. I would not bat an eyelid about the fait of the Ricoh. The treacherous bastards on the council could go and find the next project for it.

Why should ccfc be the pet tenant of wasps? Supplementing their income at the clubs expense. The council have proven they give not one toss about the club why should the club care if the ricoh sits there unoccupied? It's my ideal scenario now.

Your constant assertions that anyone who has a perspective different from yours or asks a question about your position on a particular subject says everything so feel free to leave this one be.

Unless you actually fancy answering a question directly. Not something you're keen on, normally. The normal strategy of conspiracy theory logic and obfuscation is getting really old now.

It says nothing in comparison with what you try to achieve. Lots of people have different opinions to me, strangely I point out the most obvious ones like this.

Getting really old? This is your second thread in how many years? It's always strange how people seem to be experts in posting behaviour.

Feel free to leave this one be and not point it out? Are you worried you won't get free tickets to wasps any more?

Why would a ccfc fan care more about the ricoh than their club? That is as strange as you trying to make out people are desperate for sisu to hold onto the club on another thread.

@ others

Thanks for answering the question. Genuinely interested to get my head around how folks see it and why.

Plenty of debate on here with people that disagree with one another where people don't get accused of certain things. People that turn up and post properly instead of jumping straight in and make it obvious get called out. Do you charge by the post or by the hour?

You are obviously desperate for sisu to own the club, conspiracy theorist etc etc.

That's what I'm trying to understand as I don't feel that way. My city has a stadium which CCFC can play in if shit gets sorted and it's fit for the ambitions most folks have for the club. I don't want that to be wasted. Anyway, job done.

The same as you were trying to push that wasps should be credited for cov rugby doing well, the same as you said people were desperate for sisu to hold onto the club, the same as the majority of your posts are defending wasps.

If you want to support your city, going and cheer the council house or the Godiva statue. Maybe you can just use your freebies for wasps?

I even tried to give you tips last time on using a few fluffer posts to make things less obvious, obviously went over your head. ;)

Glad I made an impression. Good memory. Put all the words in my mouth you want and twist posts I've made and selectively recall my posting history as much as you like. I couldn't give a fuck.

I don't need to be selective, just click on the post history.

The impression was how obvious you were. Do you really not see it?

Get back to your rugby and waving your plastic flag about.

Well done Nick. Another wasp found out and swatted.
Any genuine city fan wouldnt ask a stupid question like that

I'd rather stay at the Ricoh, but only if we had a stake in it. If that's not possible, then I'd prefer a new stadium that's our own.

My ideal scenario is for the club to move into a new stadium which is fit for purpose and growth, wasps fuck off out of the city hopefully fold on the way down the M1 and the Ricoh lies empty and ruined. We owe the Ricoh nothing and have no emotional tie to the place. The second scenario is the same outcome for wasps and we move into the Ricoh and take our proportion of the spoils that come with it.
The likely scenario will be an extension of the current deal but at a higher cost, the new stadium stuff will go silent again and we will be back to square one

I feel the best thing for my city is the traditional clubs prosper. Wasps handicap that, and won't have the association with the city from the general public. Therefore, Wasps need to go. If we have a new stadium, the fate if the Ricoh is irrelevant. It then becomes a development opportunity, much as wherever our new stadium would be until it was built.

Fuck the Ricoh. I've never felt attached to the Ricoh. I can't stand the place and have nothing but bad memories from the place. It's shit to get to, it's a shit atmosphere 99% of the time and has been nothing but a haemorrhage on the club.

I'd much rather we had our OWN smaller (maybe 20k with room to expand) ground elsewhere. Butts would be ideal for me. Perfect location for access from everywhere in the city, enough room to fit around a 25k stadium.
If w**ps fail and fall flat (which I don't think will take much longer, especially without us) and the Ricoh sits empty then so What! The council should of thought about that.
Before they used the club as a cash cow, before they sold the club out to w**ps, before they tried to strong arm the club from the owners.
It'd make a lovely full time concert venue for the city. We know how good at laying on concerts the council are. Never overspend on godiva do they?!?! All in helping out their egg chasing mates.

I don’t think it has to be which do you love more, club or city. The city of Coventry would survive the Ricoh folding. The whole project from start to finish has been fraught with difficulties. The fact that the stadium inspired by and built for Coventry City is now in the hands of a franchise rugby club means that the football club will never truly thrive. I would sooner we stay at the Ricoh as I think it is a fantastic venue, but only if we had the chance to eventually own it. If we could have our own stadium elsewhere in the city that has a capacity of 25k+, I wouldn’t worry about the fate of the Ricoh if that happened, it wouldn’t bother me if it was empty and had to be pulled down. I also wouldn’t worry about the fate of the city of Coventry as the Ricoh will be a pimple in it’s overall history. Best case scenario for me would be Sisu go, Wasps go back to their roots in London, we own and play at the Ricoh. Second choice would be a new stadium and not worry about what happens in Holbrooks. (In this scenario I would still want the Wasps “project” to fail as I would not want a franchise club to succeed).

How is it fit for the ambitions most people have for the club? What are those ambitions?

I’m City first CCFC second. So on the face of it I shouldn’t be against Wasps coming to my City and bringing money and jobs.....

But this was always going to be doomed because of how it was conceived by our useless elected council.

Sell a stadium meant for the City’s football team to a business who would bring in a sport that the City is already represented at through Cov RFC.

At what point was the Council thinking of the City or the people of our City....this decision was made to achieve 2 things.... move a potential white elephant on as it threatened finances and get one over SISU.

So yes I hope Wasps die quickly and if CCFC can’t get it I hope the Ricoh becomes an empty shameful constant embarrassment and reminder to Duggins and Lucas of their short term self preserving ego fuelled decisions and what it did to the City’s 2 great historic sports teams.

I want Wasps to go, but it would be sad to see the Ricoh vacant and left to rot. I would definitely like to see it as asset to the city of Coventry.

Maybe turn it into a permanent performance venue and exhibition centre.

I love my city and the all the sporting clubs, Bees, CRFC and CCFC, would love CCFC to have an owner like John Sharp who is a local passionate guy. Would love our own 20k stadium but not to far out of town. The councillors and CCC are a joke and not fit for purpose, Ann Lucas ex Bernie Inn shop steward, Mutton ex milkman, O'Boil ex Peugeot shop steward, don't what Duggins did and then you have the guy from planning who used to work for waste management all running a multi million pound business. In no other industry would you have these numptys at the controls.

Maybe we can just protest for Jon sharp to take on ccfc as well as cov rugby? :)

pretty sure there's quite a few cities with more than one stadium... none of those appear to have spontaneously-combusted.

Do those stadiums have big fan bases? I wouldn't be surprised to see some people buying tickets to the next photocopier expo to show their support to the Ricoh.

Personally I couldn’t give a toss about what would happen to the Ricoh (in the very unlikely event) of us building our own stadium.
The city’s own council didn’t give a toss about the impact of selling the stadium, built for the football team to someone not even Coventry based on a 250 year lease deal! Not a ten year deal with a condition that if the football club were flourishing they would have first crack at buying it back, noooo a 250 fuck you ccfc deal!!

As sad as it is I’d almost love to see if left empty and a huge problem for the council, but then we all know this is pie in the sky and we won’t get our own stadium built.

I wouldn’t piss on the council or any one of them if they on fire in front of me.
