How many players in that starting 11 will be here next season?

4?
Just like the Mowbray second season, it will be a complete squad overhaul.
We will regret not doing better this season.

That’s what happens at league 1/2 level.
Just remember, we are safe with 10 games to go.
Whilst I agree the season has been frustrating at times, it could also have gone a lot worse.

I thin Willis will stay once ground is sorted

i think it comes down to where we are actually gonna be playing Willis I’m sure would of signed by now had we been playing at the Ricoh but we will prob end up losing him due to this fucking mess.

Yeah I'd think 4 or 5 most likely. I'd expect Willis and Bayliss to be missed most of all if we don't have them next season. Sterling has been pretty good overall and probably a target for loan in the Championship. Hopefully we recruit well and have a couple of younger players who step up to keep the momentum going, all bets are off with the total uncertainty over a venue though.

Like others have said it’s going to be a hard sell to any player if the unthinkable happens and we have to ground share next season. What will be more difficult is the season after may we’ll see us fighting to stay up as the budget will be based on the ground share attendance which depending on where could be on the Northampton scale.

I’m sure they said There was a club option on Davies I’d guess
Defence: Davies, Hyam, Willis,Rose, Mason, McCallum ( Grimmer, Sterling, Brown to leave)

Midfield: Jones, Bayliss, Kelly, Shipley (Thomas, Meyler gone)

Forwards Chaplin, Bakayoko, Hiwula, Ponticelli (Bright to go)

That’s off the top of my head, I think Willis will sign. So I think we need a couple of Goalkeeper, A right back, couple of wingers and a goal scorer

if we kept willis, davies, kelly, bayliss, hiwulla, jones thats not a bad league 1 core to build around

likes of chaplin will defo till be round, and adding players from u23 like williams, rose, wakefield and allisani rob get a proper crack next season

so 6 or 7 new players, not so bad if scouting ntwork can get it right

hopefully its an overhal for the championship though!

The problem will be is that next season we will be in the Championship. We will struggle at that level with the team we have.

I was speaking to an Ipswich fan last weekend and their owner cannot afford to compete in the championship. They feel they would have more fun in League One.

It is my concern. Think Robins has done a good job in the main, and had certainly seemed like he was building long term, but there are some big holes to be filled if the out of contract players go, along with the loanees.

We're where we are for a reason, the squad doesn't quite have enough, so what can we do. If we went up we'd be fucking woeful, and come straight back down.

At this level it's always year by year. We've signed a lot of young players, so there's a bit of a long-term plan in place. Hopefully we can just have a good go, and be better equipped than this year. Gradual steps!

They had a manager who had them competing while at the same time reducing the wage bill but because the football wasn't reminiscent of Sacchis Milan they chased him out the club the fucking idiots.

Some people on here a few weeks back were verging on following this approach with our own situation and manager especially in the “I’ll say it ..” thread.

What I am confused about is the conundrum and questioning of:

Is this squad not good enough so MR is overachieving with them?

Is this squad about good enough to be in their current position and therefore MR is doing about par for the course?

Or this squad is full of talent and MR is underachieving with them all and we should be winning more games than we are?

Which one is it??

Ipswich have been treading water for 10 years in that league, no wonder they want a change of scenery. I think they would struggle in league one personally

Our squad is a mid table league one side so we are slightly over achieving this season. Playoffs will be a miracle in my view

For me the squad has the potential to be the best in this league. But we are a very young squad and players still developing both physically and skill wise; because of this I believe we have not taken the number of points we could or should have. I believe if this same group of players were together in a couple of years they could compete comfortably in mid championship. Unfortunately a number of the most talented players are on loan and I fear the breakup of the team at the end of the season.
Robins has done a good job in building the squad and developing the potential of players. We have sorely missed an out-and-out goalscorer.

I'd say the squad is currently mid-table level and so I'd say Robins is just about over-performing.

I think the squad/starting 11 is short of the following to be a playoff squad:

RB - once Sterling goes back
2 x wingers - incl Thomas going back
1 x striker

If we replaced those positions with "play off" quality and didn't lose anyone else I'd think we could expect play offs in this league.
