Burge- 8 deserves credit for tonight coming back strong after Fridays nightmare
Sterling 5- didn't do enough for me seems in dreamland sometimes
Williams 7- young lad done well on his debut
Davies 6- still looks out of sorts maybe rusty but got stronger
Mason 3 was absolutely dreadful, got beat on numerous occasions and was a massive liability
Bayliss 4- very poor today, seemed lost in what to do
Meyler 6- looks unfit still but battled on
Thomas 5- I am sure he doesn't have a footballers brain, fast as hell but then his decision making is woeful at times
Shipley 4- nearly cost us with a terrible back pass chickened out of tackles
Hiwula 7- extra point for the goal and what a goal it was
Baka 2- what is the point of him? no control no apparent desire awful

Subs
Brown 7- thought he came on and got stuck in well won numerous headers
Wakefield 4- never got into the game
Grimmer n/a

Struggled to win but clung on I had to be revived several times but glad of another 3 points

"Kelly was stuck on the M1. he's only 45 mins away and the road is closed. The country needs to get its act together. one bit of bad weather and the roads are closed"

"Dom Hyam is fine, will start training again this week"

"LOB is fine, been training for weeks now and he's ok"

Kelley couldn’t get here but HerneBayGaz managed to getup from Kent via M1/m6. Suppose it all depends what time you set off

Doesn't sound like Robins is pissed off at him so assume he wasn't somewhere he shouldn't be but would have thought the players were at the club hours before kick off. Don't we have someone who prepares their meals?

Pretty sure he lives in MK. Plus if he was stuck there for 4 hours and only arrived at HT, suggests he left plenty of time to get to the ground as MK is only 45-50 mins away. Just one of those things

Burge 8 - motm, looked a totally different man. Demeanour was much better as was performance. Give us that until the end of the season.
Sterling 6 - gone a bit off the boil of late but nothing particularly bad
Williams 7 - extra point as it was his debut against a great attacking line. Potential
Davies 7 - much better than Friday
Mason 6 - usual from him, some great stuff some frustrating stuff
Meyler 6 - experience was vital in such a young team
Bayliss 6 - took a soft booking think he held back a bit with that in mind
Shipley 6 - for me that was his most effective performance of the season. Despite the mistakes. Wish he had an extra yard of pace
Hiwula 7 - excellent goal. Shame we couldn't get him the ball more in dangerous areas
Baka 6 - excellent hold up play and work rate. Should have done better when put through though.
Thomas 5 - work rate was there. Looks a bit tired though.

Burge 7 had a much better game probably his best for since Christmas.
Sterling 6 seemed to struggle abit today
Williams 7 looked composed and not far off a regular 1st team player has continued to improve from his earlier matches in the season.
Davies 7 thought he was slow getting going in the first 15 minutes then was back to his best.
Mason 5 Wonder if his best position is as a wing back defensively was caught out several times yet created going forward.
Thomas 5 thought he looked tired and not really interested first half did close to nothing.
Bayliss 5 gave the ball away far to often looks tired and would benefit from some time on the bench.
Meyler 6 you can see his class and ability he doesn’t yet though appear to have got with the speed of third division football seems to think he has more time than he does. Will definitely be a key player for the run in.
Shipley 6 other than at the end trying to give Fleetwood a goal thought he was okay. Stands off his player though far too much which in the last 10 minutes was quite telling.
Hiwula 7 great goal and overall thought he played well can be so dangerous when he runs at a defence.
Baka 6 certainly not my M o M generally had a good game but seemed as to game went on to only have one speed slow.

Brown 7 thought he improved the back 4 when he came on few telling tackles and blocks.
Wakefield didn’t really do much.
Grimmer did okay for the short period he was on.

Bakayoko is a weird one. He finds great goalscoring positions at times without seeming to make much effort to get into them. And sometimes he controls the ball really well, and then couldn't trap a bag of cement. He can be amazingly inconsistent in the space of just a few seconds. He gets a 7 tonight from me.

Burge - 8 made some decent saves, came for 2 or 3 early crosses really well. Think he got a bit too confident as there were a few he flapped at shortly after but good to see he didn’t let Friday night affect him too much.

Sterling - 6 fairly quiet game. Didn’t do too much right or wrong. Few nice bits of link up play with Thomas.

Williams - 8 my man of the match. Probably more because it was his first league start and he had to deal with two very experienced strikers but he looked class. Was nervy on the ball and often went back to Burge but no problem with that as he gains confidence in the first team

Davies - 7 thought he was class second half but looked shakey first half. We miss Hyams ability to start attacks from the back because although Davies wins nearly every header, his short passing isn’t anywhere near the same.

Mason - 6.5 some great stuff, few misplaced passes but good performance overall

Thomas - 6.5 few good runs but again not as involved as he was early in the season, decision making is still poor.

Bayliss - 5 almost cost us on a few occasions with poor passing in dangerous areas. Was better in second half when deployed further back next to Meyler though

Meyler - 6 great second half, poor first half. Midfield was dominated in first 45 but with tactical change to drop Bayliss in, Meyler took control of the centre of the park

Shipley - 7 one of his better games with the caveat he got very lucky with a terrible backpass. His fitness seems to have improved as he covered a lot of ground in last couple of minutes without looking like a zombie

Hiwula - 7 such a strange player. Absolutely class goal, moments of brilliance, then just floats into wilderness doing nothing for long periods

Bakayoko - 7 what he lacks he technical ability he certainly made up for in endeavour tonight. Ran his socks off, and can’t ask much more than that. Probably the worst goal I’ve ever seen but deserved for his workrate

Brown - 7 impressed when he came on

Wakefield - 5 didn’t really do anything, has been similar everytime he’s brought on, but that’s probably more to do with situation than him personally

Grimmer - 6 helped see out the victory in the unfamiliar role of CB

Agree completely. Case in point for me was when he made a great tackle in the center of the pitch, made a nice little turn and run, only to spoil it all with a weak backwards pass that was more like a through ball to their striker.

Still a decent performance though and can't fault his effort and decent ability in the air

Brown 7 will start Saturday
Wakefield 6
Grimmer 6

Burge 8: very good performance. Some decent saves and more confidence in air. I noted he was back on pitch with oggy during halftime. Don’t think I have seen him do that before. Excellent response to the Friday jeers.

Sterling 6: gone off the boil. Improved defensively second half.

Mason 5: didn’t get near the winger first half. Lost count of the number of crosses that came in. Improved second half.

Davis 7.5: little shaky at first but grew into game. Stronger as game went on. Helped talk Williams through his debut. A mature and solid performance.

Williams 8.5: my motm. His debut and didn’t really put a foot wrong. Helped by Davis but stood up to a decent attack. Will be a regular within a season and a bright future.

Meyler 7: looked leggy throughout. Surprised he lasted the 90. Having said that he did help organise midfield well and kept things ticking. You could see his quality and want him 100% fit.

Baylis 6: blew hot and cold for me. Some great touches and vision followed by sloppy passes and looking lost.

Shipley 6.5: cant fault his effort and did provide support for those around him. One horrendous backpass where even he covered his face. Showed his importance to squad.

Hiwula 8: superb goal and decent touches but doesn’t get in the game enough for me. I know he is out of position but would like to see him demand ball more.

Baka 7: works hard often thanklessly. Good forward play followed by schoolboy errors. An improving asset and whilst at Luton unlucky not to get penalty got the lucky bounce for goal...showed good persistence.

Thomas 6: got to get the lad into game more. He has talent but body language beginning to suggest he has lost confidence and drive.

Subs
Brown: I questioned the substitution but robins was spot on. Won a number of headers and important challenges. His throws also got us moving up the line.

Grimmer: again good challenges and important headers won.

this.. works hard holding ball up & gets up well for little knock ons, but then is really frustrating by not being sharper for the chances he had! would have been a 6... but he was sharp enough for that opening goal so that pushes him to a 7 :)

Burge stepped right back up last night.. it was either crumble and fade away for the rest of the season, or step up & show people what he can do. Glad to say he did the later. Looked well up for it & long may that continue

Burge 8 - Looked like a good keeper today and a great save in inury time.
Sterling 6 - It's been along first season in men's football and while not playing badly, nowhere near the levels he was at 2 months ago. A bit fatigued I feel and with Grimmer's 2 recent substitutions maybe it's time to sit him out for a couple of games.
Williams 8 - Thought it was an amazing debut for an 18 year old especially given the forwards he was up against. Put his body on the line, was quick over the ground and could pass. Lot of potential there.
Davies 7 - That type of 2nd half is what Davies is made for - backs to the wall, head on everything, last ditch heroics. First half though Fleetwood should have had at least 2 goals from his mistakes. First a back post slice for a corner that luckily Madden switched off for and then later failed to get enough on a cross that skimmed off his head to a Fleetwood player. Hopefully that's him back to his best now.
Mason 5 - Can't fault his effort or his commitment to getting forward but has a lot of development still. Get's no support from Hiwula so really feel we need a better defender there.
Bayliss 6 - Another mixed bag and hampered by his early booking. Played some lovely passes 2nd half and should have had another assist when he put Bakayoko through
Meyler 6 - Hope it's just match fitness making him look so leggy but his football brain is a class above L1.
Shipley 6 - Did ok today, horrendous backpass aside. Clueless in the final 3rd of the pitch though, just doesn't have that creative streak. Needs to be a central midfielder who arrives in the box to score, not one trying to thread the eye of a needle
Hiwula 8 - Fantastic goal and our only real danger. If he can build up his play with back to goal he deserves another chance through the middle.
Bakayoko 6 - Plenty of endeavour but no real threat last night. Too inconsistent still to be leading the line in L1, really ought to be an impact sub. When Bayliss put him clean through he looked like a Great Dane trying to find a tennis ball that had got stuck underneath him.
Thomas 6 - Maybe Friday's miss was weighing on him a bit but thought he tried a bit too hard last night to produce something and too often ended up trying to beat 3 men.

Brown 7 - Best LB at the club and showed it. Was a brilliant cameo.

Burge - 8 caught well and did everything he could. Definite chalk and cheese

Sterling - 6
Davies - 8
Williams 8
Mason - 6

Shipley - 6 would have been much lower if that backpass went in
Meyler - 7
Bayliss - 7 - in the minority, I thought Bayliss did alright
Thomas 5 - didn’t really do anything, one of his most ineffective games to date

Hiwula -8
Bakayoko - 7

Wakefield - 5
Brown - 6 - thought he looked better defensively than Mason
Grimmer - 5

Burge 8 - great come back after his shocker on Friday
Sterling 5 - lacked concentration at times and struggled with their pace
Williams 7 - a promising debut and played on for a while while injured/cramped up
Davies 7 - looked rusty in first half, but was excellent in 2nd
Mason 4 - had a mare - Fleetwood targeted him - looked very vulnerable
Bayliss 5 - very patchy performance
Meyler 6 - very slow and obviously not fit, but stood out in a poor mid-field
Thomas 5 - not at the races today
Shipley 5 - lots of effort but error prone
Hiwula 7 - an extra point for an extra special goal
Baka 4 - 10/10 for effort and work rate which led to a fluke of a goal, 2/10 for skill on the ball. He's improved a lot, but still nowhere near good enough

Subs
Brown 7 - a bit wild, but got stuck in with some no-nonsense defending
Wakefield 6 - played well in patches
Grimmer 6 - did a good enough job playing out of position

Robins: got the substitutions right

Hiwula is starting to become a very important player for us. Can have an average to poor game and then come up with a goal like that. Has been improving all season.

Did anyone else not think Sterling looked very tired?
I appreciate he's come from under 23s football to playing pretty much every week in a proper competitive league so it's hardly surprising.
When I saw Grimmer coming on I thought it was going to be for him, surprised that it wasn't.

Sterling has looked at odds for a few games now, his spark has disappeared maybe its tiredness but he lets players get behind him quite frequently and don't appear to be putting much effort in to close them down, still has great control of the ball though

He got forward towards the end of the first half and the defender got a toe to the ball to put it out for a corner but it wasn't a given that it was going to go out of play but he didn't chase it to try and shield it he just turned a watched it roll out, he looked knackered.
