How much does a 10,000 seater stadium cost to build ? (2 Viewers)

...Just thinking ahead. I know there's more to it than just building a stadium, there's everything that goes before it to get the go-ahead. But has anyone got any ideas of a basic price for a basic stadium , with room to expand in the future?
how long is a piece of string …..

I know it cost about £7.5M to build Burtons stadium which is just under 7,000 so my guess would be in and around £10-15M maybe

Chesterfields 10000 seater Proact Stadium cost around 13 million, I thought it a decent stadium for a new ground.

I'd contribute towards a new stadium if there was an official campaign to raise funds, I really would, once this nightmare is over and assuming the worst happens. If there was a realistic chance of the people of Coventry actually involved in such a venture I think it would be a great thing to do. A far cry to what we are used to . To be able to say "I helped to build that " would give a sense of ownership and link to the club in a way never felt before.
I'm very naïve.

It’s not the cost of a new ground so much as where it could be built. Apart from a large piece of land there’s hoops galore to get over, planning, parking, nimby neighbours could take two or three years just to get planning permission and that’s IF a suitable location is found, I can’t think of one large enough vacant in Coventry

I’ve an idea - buy up all the houses around Highfield Road then flatten them and build a stadium there!
Simples!

that's exactly what I'd do if I had the money!

edit: though thinking about it, if you had serious cash, and could form a good working relationship with Jon Sharp and the CCC, would probably be a lot cheaper to buy the retirement village at an inflated price and flatten it, buy the Butts park, (the actual park opposite the Broomfield), and develop the whole site.
Pie in the sky but as we are pretending to be billionaires for the sake of this scenario that's what I'd do.

Yes I like that idea, I'm in once my Nigerian windfall comes in

Even though I live over the Stoke Wyken area I would think the old Canley works site where the Village hotel is would be a great location. Good road network. railway station, easy to walk from the city centre and with Craven St and Earlsdon a stones throw it would make a good day out!

10,000? Why are we thinking so small...we are a massive club and any minute now we shall be in the Championship and have new owners and everything in the garden will be rosy again!!

Wouldnt be any good though, would it? We need a massive stadium of at least 40K seater according to those on here who were arguing against the Butts model.

Once SISU go, they'll come flocking back in their thousands. Just like a new club playing at the Ricoh in the Conference. The fanbase is there.

You'd need to do a lot of knocking down buildings around there now. Can't be used for this purpose (well, legally I'm sure they could overcome the hurdle if they wanted) but Hearsall Common in that area would probably be big enough (though the local road network might need upgrading, but it is relatively close to the A45)

I reckon there's going to be quite a few retail parks that might be suitable in the next few years

I like the idea of a sporting quarter. Put a new stadium where the tax office used to be, use the bit of retail 6 where Burger King and American Golf are as well - should easily be big enough.

Then you've got CCFC, CRFC, Coventry Bear and Coventry Blaze all in the same area. Right on the ring road, city centre parking (or stick a multi-storey at the station / retail 6), right next to the train stadium and pretty much all buses go to town. Regenerate the Queens Road / Hertford Place area with pubs and restaurants.

Build it instead of any one of the random city center projects.

Would it fit in CCS?

Hoffman and consortium should join forces with sisu build a stadium and thrn we take our city back

We could all just get some bricks and start building.

Bonkers!
We would need a stadium big enough to hold around 30k as a minimum tbf. Yes while we are in the depths of despair we average 10/12k but you would have to think ahead sensibly.

But we get more then 10,000 now so it wouldn't be big enough.

Well, fans would have to buy season tickets then to ensure they get a seat. Look after the hard-core support.

RECENT history as in since the 90s (not 60s/70s when attendances were bonkers) a 15-20K stadium would cover is on AVERAGE.

If we could afford a 30k stadium, we could rent the Ricoh.
