This is crunch time and the ball is in SISU's court. Whether we continue to have a football club will possibly depend on the value of the training ground against continued trading.
I hope they decide to drop the court case and not realise the value of the training ground through a liquidation process.

How is my comment divisive when it’s fact?

Please lease enlighten me with your intelligence as you clearly think you’re the Aristotle of the Coventry City fan base.

Whilst you’re at it tell me what you’re doing to help this plight we current find ourselves in? Were you the one at the front of the pitiful Walsall march banging the drum?

I’m doing the same thing that I’m doing about the weather: accepting there’s not a lot I can do, hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

You’re the one assuming insight into the minds of others. Why would someone who wants the club to fold not just walk away?

Council response:

A joint statement from Leader of Coventry City Council Councillor George Duggins and Coun Allan Andrews, acting leader of the opposition Conservative group, says: “Coventry City Council has been clear in its message for more than two years now – we are willing to talk to the football club once the legal process has ended.

“The football club keeps saying it wants to meet with us but what would the purpose of the meeting be?

“If it is to come and tell us what the football club means to the people of this city then we are already well aware of that.

“If it is to say that they do not have the power to stop the legal process then what is the point of the meeting?

“What is noticeable from the football club’s statement following the EFL’s announcement today is the complete lack of any mention of their owners or their role in this.

“The club seems to think that everyone apart from SISU has a responsibility for the future of the football club yet we all know it has always been in their gift to end this.

“We suggest that rather than coming to meet us, the football club lobbies SISU to take responsibility and end this long and drawn out process so we can all move on.”

How are they aware of it? They don't seem to give a shit about it.

The Wasps bloke has already contradicted the last thing Duggins said.

It is obvious what the purpose of the meeting would be, isn't it?

They are the words of people who know they can say whatever and not give a shit.

At the time of the Ricoh sale :-

Council leader Ann Lucas, said the Labour party insisted on three ‘deal-breakers’ before agreeing to back the move.

She said it must allow continued regeneration of the north east of the city, allow Coventry City FC to remain at the stadium and must not disadvantage the city’s existing rugby team - Coventry Rugby Club.

if this does become reality - Ann Lucas can get nowhere near the position of Lord Mayor

They clearly werent Deal Breakers - time to Go Forth Ms Lucas

Then why are you piping up then when you're just completely contradicting yourself?

If you have to ask such a question then perhaps it's you that's been 'off at the shops' or 'watching TV' as you clearly no nothing of the situation.

Trust statement

The Sky Blue Trust notes that the English Football League have notified CCFC that the Club has until 5 March 2019 to update the EFL Board on the Club’s home ground for the 2019/20 season. The EFL have stated to the Club that, if a satisfactory solution is not found within the next two months, an Extraordinary General Meeting of Clubs will be held ton 25 April 2019 to consider CCFC’s expulsion from the League. This is seriously alarming - but not surprising - news.

The Trust has been warning about imminent homelessness of Coventry City FC for some time. The latest statement from the EFL means that our home game versus Shrewsbury Town at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday 28 April may be our last game in Coventry - not just for the 2018/19 season but for ever.

To avert this rapidly approaching disaster, the Trust calls upon SISU to put an end to all court action involving Wasps and Coventry City Council, to enable urgent discussions to take place over future use of the Ricoh Arena by CCFC. SISU could also help to resolve the crisis once and for all by agreeing to sell the Club to new owners who would secure a long-term sustainable fitter for the Sky Blues in Coventry. We understand that an offer for the Club was made last year and is still ‘on the table.

We also call upon Wasps and Coventry City Council to do everything in their power to come to the negotiating table to deliver an agreed solution to this crisis. The real victims of CCFC’s expulsion from the league would be the Sky Blue community - its loyal fans for whom their football club is a vital part of their lives. We implore all those involved to think selflessly and act urgently to save our club from extinction.

Is everyone forgetting that after wasps bought the stadium SISU then included them in the legal action....
They were quite clear last year - agree to another year but we won’t talk again until to stop the legal action.
Fair enough in my view.

All the bullshit that fisher and boddy spout about them being completely separate in all this - Joy employs them to run the club on her behalf, in fact employed Fisher specifically with going down the path they have done since the rent being withheld.
Am I happy that CCFC don’t own the stadium and a London rugby club does - no not entirely - but SISU have only got themselves to blame, and are in this mess by trying to force a hostile takeover by trying to put acl Into admin by not paying the rent, getting the club relegated (twice) and not buying the shares in the stadium when they had the chance 10 years ago.

IMO it's actually got to the point where for many of those who find themselves under the Wasps/Council banner/s would rather the club go under if it meant they were rid of SISU. Sentimentality associated with the club and the city got thrown out of the window years ago.

Yes, unfortunately I’ve seen/heard that over the years too. However, I call it the ‘idiot’ banner.

If you want to be depressed just have a look at the replies on Facebook. We’re fucked. The fan base is fractured beyond repair. Nobody has a clue how to get out of it.
The fact that we are at this point and there is still a large chunk of the fanbase who just want to moan about the owners is thoroughly depressing. Yes we all know they are appalling owners but there are more important matters.

I don't want to without a team next season while others are celebrating how we got one over on SISU.

This is a simple one to sort out FFS.
If you dont want no deal then sign the fucking deal....Oh sorry thats Brexit
As I say this is a simple one to sort out FFS.
Sisu - If you want CCFC to stay and survive call off the legal action and sign a deal.
Hope that clarifies it!

I think you are missing the point.

CCFC going out of business doesn't mean SISU do.

I would think that Wasps would want a water tight undertaking from OEG, ARVO, SBS&L and SISU that this is the end of all legal cases dealing with Wasps gaining ownership of the stadium. You just know that is not going to be easy to obtain.
I can't imagine any company agreeing to a contract that contained clauses preventing them invoking a legal option if required, also can't imagine any lawyer letting that through without huge alarm bells sounding.

They will try to find a way the wrangling, scheming, slimey fuckers!!! Proper pissed off with this now! Just want to support my team and enjoy the ‘beautiful game’ once more.
Remember when all we had to worry about was a bigger club nicking our best players?

I know and now half of us are self-confessed PR guru's, lawyers and accountants!

I agree. I think the wider fan base world wide must be several times bigger than 10k.

How do you put a figure on it? It’s not just season ticket holders. It’s not just the aggregate of all who have attended a game this year. It’s everyone who has ever supported the club. The club’s demise would affect everyone who has ever had a dad, brother, girlfriend, mate, whatever, who has ever supported the team. It would affect everyone in Coventry in so far as the city would no longer be represented by a league football club. It would likewise affect everyone in Warwickshire in the same way. It would affect business when the name Coventry meant less than it does now and certainly less than it did when we won the cup.

Higgs weren't blameless in this, SISU are hard nosed business people whose only commitment is to their investors, I'd expect them to play hardball.

We were relegated under their tenure but were mismanaged in other ways and had a budget to be competitive. Poor managers and poor recruitment had as much to do with our demise - unless you're equally giving them credit for our play-off success and Checkatrade win (which I don't either)

The deal for the stadium 10 years ago was at circa £20m for a 50 year lease. Vastly over-valued as was the £1.2m per season rent. The whole stadium was then sold to a London franchise for two tranches of £2.77m + £1m to extend the lease to £250 years. They did take on the Council £14m debt too, but with no time limit ever set on repayment. Effectively the whole thing for £6.5m and now worth £50m. It wasn't a level playing field. That said SISU would have kept the purchase in a separate company and rented it back to CCFC so as owners would have been no better, other than we wouldn't be having homelessness issues now.

And there we have it. After months of anyone who dared suggest the reason the trust wouldn't put any pressure on Wasps or the council was down to a potential takeover being called an idiot the trust themselves show it to be correct.

Does anyone really think that if people on social media and forums like this can spot it that SISU haven't?

Exactly.

The most worrying thing is that the Trust seem to genuinely think everybody else is thick as fuck because they have their strings pulled time and time again on half a promise.

SISU will be sat waiting for it to happen, all lined up.

Meanwhile the Trust are sniffing around arses like dogs in the park.

Both sides are playing hard ball tbf. WASP know CCFC is a vital cog in going forward. Building a hotel will need financial stability to get backing. CCFC provide some stability with not only rent but ancillary income streams topping that up. (I noticed the thread regarding beer and casino monies. Actually it's a lot even with 500 people passing through CCFC fans are contributing much needed cash measured as a couple of hundred grand) many commercial aspects are also important to WASP. If CCFC gain a promotion this has potential to increase exponentially too.
WASP could suggest the type of deal on the table once legal action was withdrawn that involves them but they are not doing that are they? SISU could state they await the court decision on appeal then will decide their position and regarding the Ricoh allowing WASP to have an end date of sorts. But their not doing that are they?
The EFL are pussycats in all this. What they say isn't worth putting on a postage stamp. Threaten to revoke the Golden Contract and then the club might listen.
