To be fair, if we had a strong, united government to lead Brexit negotiations, there wouldn't be any need to pull the brakes on.

IMO of course.

Only, the idea of leaving the biggest trading block in the world which has increased UK trade and prosperity no end, is a flawed concept presented by disgusting demagogues. It cannot make the UK better off than it is. The reason why people are angry is austerity and UK government policy. All blamed on the EU. Madness.

For those who are old enough to remember him it is a disastrous move for Labour. And an idiotic move by Corbyn as it gives the media yet more ammunition.

Agree completely. Hatton is a chancer. I wouldn’t wish him on the Brexit party. Even worse than they are.

I am not arguing. It is a sorry state. There is no silver lining at the moment.

They are all about protecting their own interests. The fact they even get the media attention is a nonsense.

And as a Labour supporter it’s embarrassing to see our former MP’s sharing a platform with Soubry who has just defended austerity saying it was ‘necessary’ in their press conference.

My last political action in Cov was to support a liberal at the time of the split in the 80s. I delivered the most leaflets in the ward. Was with them all the way. Then I learned that the candidate was stealing electricity by bypassing the meter.. and had been caught. That was me out of it. Politician corrupt at that level. My mother was a Tory councilor for years and even got mentioned in parliament by Nellist for speaking out for school meals as Thatcher was doing away with free school meals for the poor. Spoke against Tory policy.

Yes, but the thing is that there is no charismatic leader anywhere in sight who can get up and say „Brexit is a huge mistake, let’s put it back to the people before even more damage is done“. We need someone with balls to pull the Rees Mogg’s and the BoJos apart and wipe the floor with the turdish demagogue Farage. So much BS being exposed on a daily basis. We need someone with balls to call the bastards out.
Balls and integrity. Anyone anyone literally anyone???

Well if nothing confirms the point further... these MP’s want the public to choose now they are fully informed... yet not one will hold a by-election.

Hypocrisy at its finest.
Realism at its finest. Has anyone ever resigned the whip and gone to a by-election ever????? If not then custom and practice

Protecting their own interests?

Most have a massive majority as a Labour MP. Protecting their own interests is giving up on a massive majority?

Hasn't bringing back Hatton made you think that the many that have spoken out about the way Corbyn is running our party could be telling the truth?

But no. Let's blame the media. Let's blame those speaking out. Let's blame the MP's leaving the Labour party. The skeletons in Corbyns closet are all false. Hatton rejoining the Labour party after being kicked out over 30 years ago is just a coincidence although Corbyn tried to overturn Labour kicking him out.

The Tories are in a right mess. Why isn't Labour running away with it?

So. Phillip Lee has said that if the Tories continue to morph into UKIP light he’s got a big decision to make and depending on what happens come the end of March predicts there could be a mass emigration from the Tories. Got a feeling that we’re heading for a general election.

Derek Hatton suspended by Labour
Not sure what’s wrong with his tweet

Nothing really as far as I can see from how it’s been reported in the link. I think you would struggle to explain why it’s anti Semitic or anti Zionist. If our government was bombing hospitals in the worlds biggest ghetto that also happens to be the worlds most overcrowded space in the world with cluster bombs that get set of by children playing in the streets long after a ceasefire has been called I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect people to criticise that behaviour whether they happen to be the same religion, creed, colour or whatever as the government in question.

Protecting their own interests is them being unaccountable in a job that pays in 75K + expenses (and that’s a hell of a lot more) whilst simultaneously being paid ad hoc for thinktanks and ‘consultancy work’ at a rate of £500 an hour. And when the MP salary goes they will have this and more to fall back on ad infinitum. And yet they will still sit around in their clinics bemoaning that everyone else has politics wrong and they are the only ones right.

For someone that appears to champion the transparency of politics you don’t seem to get this most obvious notion. I find it odd.

They are speaking out against anti-semitism yet they are embroiled in a racism storm after 5 hours. They’ve brushed that one under the carpet, yet have the gall to accuse Labour and Corbyn of the same.

As I said before - I don’t know about Hatton, I’m too young to know about it. But he’s suspended now anyway.

Everyone is in a mess. But to suggest this band of non-principled clowns is a breath of fresh air to politics is absurd. And yes it’s all about the status quo for them.

You voted remain. Of course you did. Taking lessons from the neutral guy. Here's the fucking catastrophe that all the remoaners bored on about but I never voted for it, I'm just a martyr for democracy. Fuck off.
For your information go back to the start of the thread & you can see for yourself.
There isn't a catastrophe...just people like you full of doom & gloom. Jobs being lost is never nice or good...but a fact of life...so I guess your life must be summed up by the words you choose - "fucking catastrophe" as you seek anything you can find to pin on Brexit in order to justify your rants.
Meanwhile plenty of people out there are probably seeking opportunity to prosper from all of this. Out of chaos come order.
So you fuck off yourself - whinge about anything & everything along the way, & cry yourself to sleep if it helps.

Angry Frank is a leaver for sure.

If 20 gazillion Romanians try to come to the U.K. to work in the service industries, pick fruit, work in nursing homes, fixing things, doing the jobs we don’t want to do ourselves all while paying into our tax system I’d say NO! Get back to your own country you tax paying void fillers.

You brush off the points I have made then push forward the ones you want to make. And then you make other things up to back your claims.

I have been saying about bullying, making up charges against Labour MP's and antisemitism in theLabour party for ages. It keeps getting denied by the same people. The MP's that have just left have said the same. Yet you hit it at an angle where you say they have done it for their own benefit.

So you don't know about Hatton and he has now been suspended so it doesn't matter now? More like they didn't expect the backlash so have looked for a reason to reverse the decision. And not knowing about someone isn't a defence. You have good old Google to help you out.

How can you pretend that all is well in the Labour party and continue to blame everyone and everything else all the time?

In my experience they draw far more in in-work benefits than they pay into the tax system.

I assume there's some context somewhere? Or they're looking for an excuse to stop it.

To be clear, not sure Hatton should be returning (although... Nellist back would be an interesting one!) but am not sure at what level we restrict criticism of states.
Can you think of any reason why Hatton should be allowed back into the Labour party?

Because he believes in the Labour movement?

It'd be pretty crazy for me to justify someone coming in however, when I've just said I'm not sure they should be returning.
I'm sure he shouldn't be allowed back in the Labour party. I have had enough of those with a dodgy past taking over my party. His last time in Labour told us the whole story. People have lost faith. We have no chance of a Labour government when it is being run the way it is now. It took one of the best politicians of my time to rebuild the Labour party after Hatton and others destroyed it. And the problem is that I can't think of one coming through. We are going to be left with a Tory government for many years if nothing changes.

Well he believes in bullying thuggery and general loutishness - as well as feathering is own bed - so yes he should fit in nicely

Crikey. It’s almost as if he’s a politician. Maybe that’s the career he should pursue. Best thing he can do is join a political party.

Trouble is he is a liar, crook and hypocritical. I don’t think what he says about being a socialist is remotely true. He is just on the take. Looking for a new angle.

But, now my pub is host to the young liberals for their „pub nights“.... So, I‚m probably going to be disappointed again..

Get some Ricin in especially.

Sounds like when we walked into a pub in Bristol and there were lads sat in there drinking soft drinks playing board games at 11pm on a Saturday

I don’t think Nellist was a crook. That would be a bit different. Wasn’t Mutton militant tendency?

Luckily we don’t have to rely on your experience. As we have data.

It’s immigration from outside the EU you want to stop. You know, that thing all the leading Brexiteers have been promising to increase to prove they aren’t racist.
