The pace in that vid when he burned past Hendry is unbelievable

It’s always a good idea to remind Hendrie of that career defining day.

This was my sons 1st away game, 5 at the time & it was absolute pandemonium behind the goal when we scored.
He was deafened by the noise, possibly one on loudest we ever had at an away game.
End of the game some seats had fallen apart (Honest gov City fans didn’t bounce on them), he picked up part of seat up, stuffed it up his jumper & still has it somewhere.

Fantastic day had by all.

I was one of those packed in the concourse of the east stand going mental, not even 10 but knew it meant something to beat Villa away.

Huckerby was all but unplayable when he was on it. Not only was he quick, but he had good control and skill. It was only ever his tendency to stray offside that let him down. If he'd been at a 'big' club, he'd have earned England caps.

He was a great player. Hugely underrated.

My celebration would be the Robbie Keane somersault complete with a machine gun celeb into the holte end and sprint into the villa box and piss on John Gregory’s shoes

Most amazing thing about that video is that after an hour (at 0-0 as well) we took off a defender and put on a striker. None of this wait until we're 2-0 down and then take off one striker on the left wing and put another striker out on the left wing.

Think I was in the Trinity upper? for that one. Both had to sit on our hands when it went in. Good times.

We did have the flexibility of moving Dublin into defence though to be fair.

True, and we also had Marcus Hall filling the left wing slot...Amazing to think that we lasted so long in the top flight with some of the defenders that we had. A quality centre to limit the amount of time on the pitch that Shaw/Williams had and we'd have been fine.

I was actually at Elland Road that day watching Birmingham v Leeds (Dad was a blue nose, friends of ours were Leeds fans) young me was told not to celebrate if we won.... you can imagine 9 year old me going mental when Aston Villa 0-1 Coventry come up on the scoreboard...

Further on, Sheffield United made me cry just a few weeks later.

The reason why they’re my most hated team

great footage, slightly spoiled by the sight at the end of a foil covered cardboard FA cup.
Would have them above knives and pyro on the list of objects that shouldn't be permitted to be brought into the ground.

I miss those times so much. What a great team we had throughout the 70's, 80's and most of 90's.
I just pray that one day we are back up amongst the bigger boys with the same dread most of them had when they played us.
I do wonder how the young fans keep on going , at least us old farts have memories like this game to keep us going

Just watched the video. Enthralling to watch. I can remember beforehand and afterwards but hardly any of the action shown here. I do remember the goal of course.

Underrated player was Trond, amazing how he did not score in this game.

Makes me sad and long for these sort of days and those times.

Ive always believed that Sheffield United defeat was a "sliding doors" moment in our history.

I too hate them the most alongside Leicester.

Sheffield United and Crewe for me... still remember hating McSheffrey for that shit last second free kick in the second leg when their defence was panicking.

Convinced to this day if he just lumped it into the box we’d have scored a third

Completely agree, I was convinced we were gonna win the cup that year. We should of battered sheff Utd at home and if I remember correctly oggy nearly cost is the game towards the end of the second half

I still hate Sheffield Utd to this day

My uncle is convinced we’d have beaten Arsenal and Newcastle.

I remember that event at the Ricoh a few years back, and Huckerby said the players were perplexed at strachan’s decision to play Dion at Centre back and Moldovan up front

A bit harsh on Crewe as fans are they are harmless. I was at that game freezing having just flown in from Melbourne on previous Saturday.
Literally arrived at Manchester airport at Saturday 1300 and went straight to pub near Bury ground close to our house and won game easily.

Yes Crewe were shell shocked with late that burst of goals just like the Coventry fans! Really could have be 0-3.
