Looking forward to today, it's going to be cold though

I wonder if any stadiums have heated seats?

Just been outside, it's a little bit icy but don't think the game is at any risk at all.

Will probably all be clear by then

If Bayliss is back I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped one of Hiwula or Chaplin, put Bayliss in and pushed up Thomas and Bright.

It's amazing how quickly things change.

After the summer signings, we might have predicted a line-up this season along the following lines:

Burge

Sterling
Willis
Davies
Brown

Ogogo
Doyle
Bayliss

Jones
AB
Andreu

Bench: super sub Allassani etc.

With Brown, Ogogo, Jones and Andreu as the key men.

From that line up:
Brown - out of favour and always looked a little shaky to me in terms of positioning/decision making
Ogogo - gone. A pretty disastrous signing.
Doyle - gone.
Jones - re-injured.
AB - hardly featured (which I think has been unfair)
Andreu - gone and hardly featured after an impressive first game.
Allassani - loaned out and hardly featured.

So 6-7 players who I would have expected to feature in the team this season in August have in reality only made marginal contributions. It seems very hard to predict how signings will work out. Except Adams panic signing of the poor and much abused Kevin Kyle all those years ago - that seemed like an obvious disaster to most observers from the get-go. I'm sure there are other even better examples. Alan Brazil as part of the Gibson deal anyone?

Random question..... friend of mine asked if they could take drinks in to the ground for the kids? I personally didn’t have a clue but assume this is a ‘no’ given the usual issues with the staff taking bottle tops etc?

Tell your mate to buy drinks in cartons, no plastic tops .

Never normally an issue, but last week they stopped people going in with drinks, even asked people to remove their hats.

the reason for it...... there was trouble at the previous game..... i have to say going into the Ricoh at the minute feels like we are criminals..... not friendly at all! gone real down hill since Chris O'Neil was layed off

To be fair, if I hadn't removed my hat they'd never have discovered the bald patch I was trying to conceal.

Agreed the French are much better than us at striking. It’s a shame he does it when playing.

Match day predictions: crowding downstairs around the bar areas before the game and long queues for the toilets at half-time. As for football: if we score first, we're away; if not, it might get a little bit ugly and people will stream out with 15 minutes to go.

Lots of jester hats and half and half Oxford scarfs.

I guess that’s a worthy attempt at combining banter and politics Grends but predictably for you a complete fail on all counts.

I do agree though with your new stated view that Max is a great striker. Well done for seeing the light

Could we move to a 4-3-3:

Burge
Sterling-Willis-Hyam-mason
—————Meyler
———kelly———Bayliss
-Thomas -Chaplin-Bright

Addai,Davies,grimmer,Westbrook,new winger, Baka,hiwula

Looking forward today, not really sure why based on our form and the fact half the crowd won’t know anyone’s name and I’m anticipating ‘get it forward’ shouts at every opportunity....(I do think the Community Day is a good idea by the way, I’m just being a moody ST holder (and I hate idiots)).

Meyler should be a level above and we don’t have the certainty of JCH coming on to the detriment of our play.

I’m hoping he’ll go for Hiwula or Bakayoko up front, whatever your view of Chaplin he cannot play as a lone striker, his movement, positional sense and ability to hold up the ball are all too poor.

Assuming MR sticks to 4-2-3-1, I’d go:

Burge
Sterling Willisa Hyam Mason
Westbrooke Meyler
Wakefield Bright Thomas
Bakayoko/Hiwula

Unless Kelly/Bayliss are fit in which case I’d start either over Westbrooke.

2-0, City.
