Like all plans, it needs permission, funding and a club who can consolidate at least in the Championship. The plans are quite clever though and the increase in capacity and facilities to the stadium were to pay for themselves by attaching that building work to selling accommodation In the form of retirement flats I think that would complement those already in the area plus some retail potential.

Speaking of development plans it caught my eye that Wasps blather about buying land around the old Whitley Pumping station near the Higgs centre on Allard Way has come to nought, some other developer has taken a serious interest. Was in local rag a few weeks ago.

If somebody has been out preaching to the press about how wrong it is for sports clubs to move then in the background doing a deal for another to move it's bullshit isn't it?

You’re intentionally generalising to “sports clubs”, but there’s lots of sports where moving a club just isn’t a big deal compared to football. I don’t see protests about Blaze for example. I’m just saying I don’t know enough about rugby culture to know if it’s conparable.

All im doing is pointing out the council's hypocrisy.

Can't believe Wasps have sold 30k for their 'Christmas cracker'. Shame we'll only managed 10,000 for our boxing day game.

CRFC appear to be doing quite well without getting tp heavily involved with either sisu or wasps.
I think they've got too much sense and are quite happy to pursue they're own plans. Good luck to them. Still need to try and get to one of their games!

Next home Cov Rugby game which doesn’t clash with CCFC home game is when City are at Plymouth and Cov have Cornish Pirates at the BPA 19th January

I await the 84 threads about Blaze and how they need to fuck off then.

Wasps weren’t the first sports team to move to the city and they probably won’t be the last. I find the outrage slightly selective.

There's differences between the 2 though.
Both have moved from their own City/Town to come here.
Blaze moved here to without a history of moving every couple of years. They were struggling for a fan base in Solihull and were just struggling full stop. They haven't moved into somebody else's ground/rink nor into a City that already has an ice hockey team.
W***s have previous (numerous times) of moving grounds, changing teams, trying to become a football club, failing and becoming ANOTHER rugby club (Harlequins). They moved into somebody else's stadium and into a City that already had a rugby club (hence stealing potential fans through the gate).
Blaze also moved 10 miles, w***s over 100.

Think the point is still flying right over your head.

I think the WASP's should change their name to Coventry Wasps! that way i can accept it when Midlands today do the report on midlands teams and they are included
perhaps that may make them more acceptable to Coventry people?

'Our official coach partner Zeelo offer easy, hassle-free coach travel service to and from Ricoh Arena. Services currently run from destinations such as High Wycombe, Hillingdon, Kenilworth, Maidenhead, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick'

Those destinations for Wasps travel suggest the type of demographic they are targeting around the Midlands ?!
It's a sad fact of life that people are very shallow these days and that their Facebook page just won't be as 'cool' if they had pictures of a visit to the BPA instead of the Ricoh and all the hype !

Those types will only go when there's a bandwagon and they are winning. They aren't actual fans.

I know a fair few from Birmingham that go to Wasps games, I think the lack of the 'coventry' in the name helps attract customers from all over the Warwickshire and West Midlands area.

There has been a couple of people wearing those colours around most of the season round the family stand - not sure if it's the same people every time.

They did so at the expense of another Coventry sports club though. Not sure why you defend them so much, can only assume you have some sort of involvement.

Isn't hard, I feel sorry for the actual fans who actually pay very week.
I don't. If ppl are stupid enough to by a ST or tickets regularly when there's so many freebies going around so frequently the more fool them.
Guy I work with was given 6 on a Friday night in the pub a few weeks back so took 4 for him and his family (won't hold it against him, he is a spurs fan after all). He was walking to the shop the next morning and was offered another 5 by somebody else and turned them down. When he got the the Ricoh later that day for the match was offered another 3 as he was about to enter the ground. When he finally got in there he said (and I quote) "was alright taking your beers in and it was a good game but there's more atmosphere in a graveyard"!

Anybody I have ever asked "what was it like", their first answer was "you can take your beers in"
