Kelly might slight edge Doyle on the pitch now but Doyle brings out more in those around him and needs to play

I’m sorry but I don’t buy this. Where was Doyle when we were winless and five and he was playing? Gifting the ball away for them to score. I saw people say Doyle would have helped in the walsall game, are we really saying him being on the pitch would have stopped a keeper coming for a ball that was never there to be won?

Genuinely not sure.

He was often the one putting in crosses, or the ball would come back out and he was stood at left wing back.
Don't get me started, strikers playing on the wing .

He has got some aerial presence but all too often he'll flick the ball on when he must surely know he's the furthest forward player and there is absolutely no one in front. He's not blessed with a great deal of common sense, surely.

I can't remember too many times when he actually got off the ground to jump for the ball today.
Robins has 4 strikers, he needs to get at least 2 of them to develop a partnership and start scoring.

Yeah, I heard him say that-but of an odd one that is.

I think he was chancing it, hoping JW would get through the game unscathed and thus help us get a result.

On another note, why am I reading some on here slating Bakayoko as a waste of money? It seems he has barely been given a chance and, when he was, he tore Charlton (were we always bloody lose) a new one when unleashed.......could Baka and Chaplin as a front two be a viable option?

Another miserable Ricoh experience for me. Don't get down that often and made the trip back purely for this game. Not quite as bad as we were at Blackpool, But worse than at Fleetwood. Why does Robins not revert to 4-4-2? I might be wrong but i think thats the formation we played when we won 5 in a row. JCH needs to be dropped, I'd like to see Chaplin and Hiwula up top together, The few games I've seen those 2 link up best and seem to be on the same wavelength.... even if neither of them can finish. 1 up top just doesn't work with us, JCH is static, When breaking out from defence Hiwula is on the edge of our box with nothing in front of him.

I would have Ponticelli starting ahead of any of this current crop of strikers he can’t do any worse raw yes but great natural movement & can finish

Still, on the plus side, Timplerley is a nice part of the world so at least you've got a nice locale at home once you get back up the M6.

Not marking on far post and burge too far towards near post when corner taken.

Sadly he was at fault AGAIN today any ball in the goal area has to be the keepers, whether he catches it or punches it. Really disappointed with his performance. And as for his kicking and distribution enough said.

But to be fair his overall performance this season has been very good. Hopefully this is only a blip. And his confidence is not too badly effected.

Robins said after the game, Willis got injured in training in midweek.

So why risk him when he could of played Hyam.

I think Robins is losing the plot.

I may have misheard but did he not say Willis fell on Bakayokos leg in training causing an injury (to Bakayoko). The fact no one else has mentioned this makes me think I have this wrong, but that was how I heard it

A loss against the best side I have seen up the Ricoh since the championship and a team full of confidence. Luton players trusted each other.
Let me tell you that coming from Riyadh this morning to a freezing Coventry was not pleasant but I wouldn't have missed it with my two sons for the world.
You can see the team are going backwards, the body language is that of a side on the slide(we have seen this once or twice over the years!)
One of the issues I believe we have is that the crowd are NOT not with the players and are ready to go moan at a moments notice. Shit support.

Agreed. Luton are by the best team to come to the RICOH all season. I had an uneasy feeling we were going to get a good hiding after the first 10. I also agree with your point about the fans not being behind the players. There’s actually a bit of a toxic atmosphere when things aren’t going our way. Admittedly, even I got agitated today and I’m usually pretty stoic at the football.

To me, the team looks like it lacks confidence. The conditions were poor, and the final ball was lacking for both teams at times. But, Luton moved the ball with a lot more confidence and our spread today was far too spread out. Chaplin not taking that penalty speaks volumes about his confidence right now.

This is a young, naive team and they need more experienced players around them. This team seems bipolar, I could see us going on another run when we get the win — that’s my gut feeling when it comes to the team’s temperament.

Men against boys is all I heard where we were sat as well. Totally outplayed today, can’t remember a 2nd ball won all day. And showed nothing at all going forward.
Was a massive problem. They won just about every single header and every single second ball.

Burge kicking long was a tactic that I don't think worked at all, all day long.

No that’s how I heard it, maybe this week he could land on kellys leg there will be a good chance as he won’t be far away!

I can’t be bothered to go through all the pages how long will Willis be out after that shocking tackle (how they had the nerve to protest the yellow card) it’s ok though as we have the cover of hyam but another injury there and we are in trouble, at least we have four fit left backs!

Brown is improving but the rest had shockers and were set up to defensively again we need to play a version of four four two and attack the opponent not worry how they are setting up.

No Andreu yesterday on the bench.

Looks like he's been completely bombed out?

I forgot he even played for us.

The lack of goals really is a concern, especially with the money spent to improve our forward line. The fact JCH is seen as our #1 striker says it all - very worrying

He said 8 weeks for Bakayoko because he was in a challenge with willis in training.... they will find out how willis is early next week so he is not 8 weeks out.
Okay.

I thought I heard him say two players were out for 8 weeks.

Did I hear that wrong then?

I remember something that Brendan Rodgers said years ago when he got sacked by Reading(?). He said that he had a long term vision for the club and brought players in to develop a certain style of play, but didn’t put enough into the current ability of the team and as a result never got to realise his long term plans. I feel this is what Robins has done in bringing in our attackers. Out of the 4 strikers, none of them seem good enough right now and we have 4 (maybe 3 if you discount JCH) development projects that may work over time but aren’t offering anything immediately. I don’t think anyone would have a problem if we had signed 2 of Chaplin, Hiwula and Bakayoko alongside a striker with a decent record in this league and a good level of experience, but as it is we don’t have the necessary options to make it work right now.

He definitely said something alallong the lines of 'He's out for 8 weeks.' then Linnell said something and Robins said 'and HE's out for 8 weeks.'

Maybe he was just repeating and reiterating what he had just said.

If you think about it, post match interviews are always very raw your thinking of the negatives all the time after a defeat, its natural although i do think the question was miss laid to him and he repeated it and got it slightly wrong.... i think Linnell forgot to ask about doyle in that interview.....

I heard that the Stonemasons pub has closed down after being tarted up? Funny really an affluent area but very little pub wise
It closed down for a refurb 12-15 months ago and was then taken over again in August this year and closed for 2 months for another refurb.
Got the Quarry bank just round the corner that does a decent pint and corks out or bar in the village if you want something a little different.

I thought the signing of JCH was a strange one, He wasn't good enough in league 2 last year and now he's our main striker.
