Terrible scenes and it seems unlikely that it will end without loss of life. Truly sad.
The Thai owners have been brilliant for Leicester City.

Know someone who knows John Rudkin (director of football) and he wasn't on board, nor apparently was the Chairman's son.
Strong reports coming in that Chairman was on board, and amongst those that may tragically have lost their life. RIP.
Extremely sad news and thoughts go out to those affected by this.

Terrible that!

Twitter is going to be full of people claiming their distress. Fair enough BUT do you know what really grinds my gears?

When people put..."From a United fan" or "...and I'm a City fan" like it's some heroic thing to overstep the football rivalry thing. Another horrific instance of a bad situation that people will flood social media in search of 'likes' and "Yes that is terrible but look at ME. Please give me attention"

Fuck off.

I think you’re being harsh there.

There’s nothing wrong with showing compassion from other teams fans. And nothing wrong with saying things like ‘shocking....hope all is ok. From a Cov fan’.

Easy to assume comments are for likes but sometimes things transcend football rivalries and it’s ok to show compassion from the other side.

Such a shame as for a change the ownership of a football club was all one way in a positive form, very sad circumstances.

Seems BT sports was jinxed on Saturday with Hoddles illness too

Sorry, to clarify - i've no problem with other fans saying stuff but why add in who you support? Who cares? It's not about you.

Dont even get me started on peoples urgent need to post anything on social media when stuff like this happens. "Must rush to Twitter to heap up my thoughts and prayers" fuck off.

As a coventry fan I agree

Thing that really annoys me, who thinks to create a Twitter account pretending to be a news source to make things up

But surely don't people say 'from a Cov fan' or 'from a Man U fan' to show solidarity and universal support and to show we are all in it together?

I have no problems with it at all myself.

Must be heartwarming to Leicester fans if Derby and Forest fans are sending their condolences and all the other clubs' fans from around the country.

This is awful. My thoughts go out to all the friends and families of those effected. And to the Leicester fans, who had been at the ground minutes before.

It's not heartwarming to me it's the bare bloody minimum. Otherwise it sounds like "usually I have an irrational childlike hatred of you even though I don't know you because the team of people you pay to watch aim for a different net. But hey wait one of your guys died time to press football faaaaamily button"

It's stand with Paris, smile for Bradley, Alfie's army, like if you hate cancer slacktivism
But surely that's a sweeping generalisation.

You can't say that everyone who posts 'from a Forest fan' etc isn't a heartfelt sentiment.

I'm sure the vast majority are heartfelt sentiments and sincere.

Doesn't mitigate the tragedy any, but we've just heard that the LCFC-supporting husband of a friend of my missus eventually turned up safe. She was beside herself last night as she couldn't raise him on the phone after the match. Turned out his phone had died during the game.
She's told HE'LL suffer similarly if it happens again.
Thoughts with those that didn't get home.

"Thoughts and prayers" utterly meaningless shite.

Tbh it's a mega rich foreigner who runs a football club, it doesn't really bother me and it's not really a football loss as such.

Spot on Otis. If it’s heartfelt, nothing wrong with it.

On the Leicester forum loads of fans from other teams have signed up simply to post messages passing on their thoughts and good wishes. They're hardly likely to want to fish for likes of FoxesTalk, much more likely they wish to genuinely express themselves. Yes it may be meaningless in terms of what difference it'll make but some Leicester fans on there seemed genuinely pleased that fans from Leeds, Derby, Liverpool, Man U, Rangers, Celtic etc has been in touch. It's like sending a 'in sympathy card's to someone whose family member has died.

At first they wouldn't even say if he was on board, today we got that he was on board but have stopped short of saying if he died in the accident or not or who else was on board

I guess they will have to wait for him to be formally identified, which given the state of the helicopter after it crashed will be harder than normal.

Thoughts and prayers winds me up. Bad enough Americans using it all the time but it seems to have caught on over here.
Bit isn't it just the same as people saying rest in peace? People just say it as a matter of course even if they don't know the person.

To me it's just another saying. Doesn't bother me. Anything that gets overly used as a phrase obviously gets diluted, but c'est la vie.

It's the same when any comedian dies. 'He was the greatest comedian of them all. '

Until the next one dies and then they were the greatest comedian of them all.

Either that or they were 'a true legend.'

I just let it wash over me. Not worth getting grumpy over.

I'm sure there'll be some 'innocent banta' about it on Twitter and Facebook.
Some awful stuff. I reported one tweet. But 99.9% sympathy.

"Can't stop thinking about ...... insert tragedy here" really affected me.

1 hour later taking doggy ear selfies in pub, no longer affected

There’ll be minutes silences aplenty to mourn.

I think it was Villa, that because of the scheduling timings of their matches, had 4 different periods of reflection for Fabrice Muamba and fella hadn’t even died. If someone dares say, it’s a bit much this, it’s music to the ears of those that love to be seen as ‘compassionate’ who’ll shout them down.

Please tell me people do not actually do this. If so then that IS something worth calling out.
